  1. That's done the trick. Don't know how it got un-ticked as it seems to be ticked as default on my system and I didn't know what it did anyway. A little bit more knowledge learnt so thanks very much, Peter.Peter
  2. A problem I have with one specific show that I have been working on and off for a number of months in that when I click and any of the buttons to get Fullscreen Preview from Current Position the visual works fine but the audio starts from the beginning of the show. (Whether it is relevant or not but back in June I had a problem with the show in that I could burn a DVD but it would not play on either of my DVD players but would on WMP. Igor found a solution and did an update which cured it.). It is not a great problem for me and as I say my other shows do not have the same problem but it may be of interest to Igor or other experts. I have done all the usual thing - re-boot,update, reinstall etc. Mickp
  3. Burning DVD's seems to have become a big problem for all sorts of (apparently) different reasons - see a number of previous posts including mine. Guess it needs some deep overhaul. mickp
  4. Are you saying that to follow PAGB all photos must be 1400x1050 - surely not. Our club rules are that photos should not exceed 1400 wide nor 1050 high. I does not mean that you cannot put a photo in at 1400 x 787 (16x9 almost) it just means it will not fill the screen top and bottom. Mind you it would be nice to have bigger resolutions. Mickp
  5. Maybe 3 or 4 a year. I create iso images and burn from there with Image Burn.
  6. I think that was the answer I was looking for although how does Eric's point about increasing the pixel size of photos that one might want to heavily zoom. In that case if producing an NMP4 this would have no effect. Anyway I will do a trial and let you know how I get on. Mickp
  7. Hi Dave, No I have not as I do not have a problem in achieving a 3 x 2 AR on my TV Screen - I do it by using the default pixel setting in Project Options/screen of 1200 x 800. I only have a problem if I use 1620 x 1080 (my slide sizes) so I am asking what difference there is in using the different figures - if none then I shall I have no problem, if there is a reason like loss in quality, I will have a go at your suggestion. thanks, Mickp
  8. Hi Barry, I recently visited Tuscany and visited a number of old towns with tall buildings and not much space around, so cropping top and bottom is not an option, plus I like 3 x 2 format. I do understand about format and pixels. I first set up Aspect Ratio "3 x 2" Project Options/Main. This then defaults to 1200 x 800 pixels in Project Options/Screen which previously I was happy to accept and if I wanted to view on the TV via the usb port then the show displayed in 3 x 2 format with black bands down the sides which was okay by me. Recently I thought I may be loosing some quality by not entering 1620 x 1080 in Project Options/Screen (the size I crop my slides to) but in doing this I could not get the show to display as 3 x 2 on the TV no matter what I did. Reverting to 1200 x 800 did the trick. So what I really wanted to know is am I loosing any quality by using 1200 x 800 instead of 1620 x 1080 or are there any other disadvantages. BTW my photo club, which has a strong A/V section, has a projector at 1400 x 1050 and 1920 x 1080 does not look very good on it. Thanks for your interest. Mickp
  9. Thanks for your replies, I'll have another go with a test sequence but I think I can achieve what I want without understanding the concept of Virtual Size of Slide - a bit beyond me I'm afraid. Mickp
  10. Can somebody explain what "Virtual Size of Slide" in Project Options/Screen does. I have recently been changing the default setting of 1200 x 800 for a 3 x 2 format to 1620 x 1080, the size I have cropped my slides to. It does not seem to do anything except when I play an MP4 via USB on my TV I cannot get it to show in the 3 x 2 format on the TV screen. Reverting back to 1200 x 800 seems to solve the problem but it would be nice to understand what it does. Mickp
  11. Peter, thanks for the advice. I publish very few to DVD but I will try out Igor's suggestion and report back. Mickp
  12. Thanks Igor, run out of discs so will get back to you in a couple of days
  13. I love looking at old photos and these were exceptional, thanks for researching and posting. One comment, I should have liked to see some of the photos in their original format rather than panning up and down. I would have been happy with the light strips (or preferably dark strips) down the side as you did in the last couple of shots. But still very fascinating. Well done. Mickp
  14. Hi Barry, Many reasons why we create A/V's:- Tell a story; create a mood or feeling; depict the beauty and charm of a place etc, but also I think many of us use it as a showcase for our photography and in that case why not allow the viewer to choose to go back and study individual photos in more detail, hopefully after they have viewed the show all the way through. They have that option on a DVD player anyway. If the show is for a competition I would totally agree with you. Mickp
  15. Hi Snapcam, Great landscapes and Seascapes. I keep saying I must go to Ireland but the rain keeps putting me off, although I hear that the pubs are a great refuge. Mickp.
  16. Hi Igor, 1) Toshiba SD-230E and SD-220E 2) Yes okay with 7.5 but video builder sometimes hung so I burnt iso files 3) Burnt Video-TS file and plays okay on TV but re-burnt full show using "Burn DVD disc" and this still does not play. The Video disc will suit my purposes now and normally I do not burn many DVD's now but I will still be happy to help if you need to resolve the problem. Mickp
  17. Thanks Barry, but I did something similar. You may remember that I deleted the second half of my show and the DVD worked ????? I then went on to replace all the second half slides with others from another folder keeping the timings the same and the DVD then would NOT work. I given up now anyway and my ticket to Wnsoft appears to have been ignored. Mickp
  18. That's very kind of you. Off out now but will PM you tomorrow. Regards, Mickp
  19. Hi Eric, Thanks for the offer but see my post replying to Barry. I only wanted to put the show on a DVD to send to the chap who did the carvings, as I thought he was not really into computers (he prefers snail mail to emails). But I shall just put it on a cheap memory stick and hope he can sort it out. I've got seriously side-tracked by this, as I do like problem solving but that's enough. Thanks to you and everyone else who has tried to help. Regards, Mickp
  20. Hi Barry, I was not trying to open any particular file I was only double clicking the DVD icon in "My Computer" to open it up to see the files and I get that message. I can do the same by Rt clicking/open and this works okay. I do not see how you can associate a DVD drive with anything. It is not a problem for me but thought it might be symptomatic of something else wrong. I've decided enough is enough and I'm not going to bother with creating a DVD anymore, but thanks for you help. Mickp
  21. Thanks Peter for your advice. Where the captions overlap I will put a space between the two paintings similar to the others. The background to the wood extracts will need a bit of thought. and my brain is too addled at the moment. Mick
  22. Well if it is a computer problem my end, I cannot understand why it will play okay with half the show (both shows, Stations and Canterbury) and will play okay the whole show on WMP. BUT... Double clicking on my DVD Drive icon produces the error message below. This also happens when I Rt click/play but Rt Click/Auto play works fine as does autoplay when inserting a Don't know what to do about this so advise would be gratefully received. Also all my data files are on an external hard drive but don't see why that would be a problem
  23. I have sent a ticket to Igor on this as it does not seem to be a problem with individual shows and yes the music issue is irrelevant as it occurs with and without music. Mickp
