  1. Hello Mike, I think you are talking about the annoying yellow balloon tips Windows offers you all the time when you don't need them. There is a registry tweak to get rid of them: Open your registry (regedit) and find the key: User Key: [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Advanced] Create a new DWORD value, or modify the existing value, called "EnableBalloonTips" and set it according to the value data below Value Name: EnableBalloonTips Data Type: REG_DWORD (DWORD Value) Value Data: (0 = disabled, 1 = enabled) If you have never tweaked your registry before, you better create a backup or do a search on the internet to find a tool to do it for you. Hope this helps.
  2. Hi, Been busy for some time, but I try to keep informed about PTE V5. However, my graphic card cannot handle the demands of this new version. My computer keeps freezing anytime I try to watch a show. I know I shall have to upgrade, but that is not my problem. Real problem for me is I can't see when I download a show from Beechbrook which version it is! I am tired of the hangups, so I decided not to download anymore version 5 demo's until I have a new computer. But there is no way to avoid this when I can't shift out these shows. Wouldn't it be an idea to put version information along with the information of author and megabytes. Or, if this is more easy, within the title? There must be more PTE users with this problem... Anyway, upgrading before Windows Vista arrives is not an option for me. Have to save, I also want to replace my camera for a SLR!
  3. I am also using a Matrox Millenium 550 card. Notice the same jerkiness on scrolling down (or is it up?) the tree. All other effects run very smoothly. I very much like the quality of the pictures! However in the Flowers show I find the fading very unsmoothly. Can't think why, because this is a show with small pictures. I am using a 3.2 Ghz Pentium processor with 1 Gig DDR ram
  4. As I understood earlier from Igor, version 5 gets a complete new graphic engine. I can't imagine this is only needed for pan and zoom. I think to keep up with the developments in other software this change is also needed. The only thing we achieve in acting as impatient as some of us do now, is that major upgrades aren't announced early anymore. The actual version is stable and doing a perfect job. Seems to me this wanting for Pan and Zoom is a bit dangerous. Remember when we were children and wanted something very much. The moment you got it, fun lasted for a few days and then again there were other wishes.... Count your blessings and tomorrow is another day....
  5. Language is a strange thing. When I read this sentence (I am Dutch, so English is not my native language), I understand the meaning. But when I read it again... Shouldn't it be UNselfishly? Anyway, I use the applications of Boxig a lot. But I agree, sometimes I am in need of Dutch buttons, or a Dutch helpfile. And then I am busy for hours searching the internet for something only half as good as what Boxig has already made in English... I think everyone prefers to use his native language.
  6. I liked this show very much. Excellent use of transition effects. A nice voice to listen to. I have been hesitating to add spoken comment to my shows, would I have had such a voice in my neighbourhood my problems were over! But... well there is always a but Whom am I to give credit to such a good show? I should have expected at least a name at the end. Also most people will get curious to what music is used. When you don't want to put credits in the show, you could consider to add an explanation textfile to the uploaded zip. Anyway, my compliments for an extremely entertaining show of high quality!!!!
  7. I do not very much like the black and white effects. Seems to me like a too strong applied graphic effect (don't like the effect in the clouds for example). What I dó like is the very good choice of music along whit the shocking effect of use of the flames and later on the subtle use of the face in the car. What I miss is an explanation textfile and the title(s) of the music.... The show evokes strong emotions and thus it is a good show. In my eyes anyway. Deserves to be downloaded a lot and to be kept.
  8. Yes, but that doesn't happen with me! And that is what I want. And I know about the F key, but that is not the way I want it. I want to be able to close the file with the uppercorner cross. And using the F key shows another kind of full window. Perhaps I have changed something in the preferences, but I can't find it anymore
  9. Hello, I have been working with Photoshop for several years now. But lately I realized I do a lot of mouseclicking which shouldn't be necessary. I'll try to explain what I want, perhaps someone has a solution for me. 'Googling' didn't bring one. I am in the habit of opening maybe 10 files in one time. Then I start working on the first one, then the next, etc. Often I compare 2 or 3 pictures to get the best and leave the others. But Photoshop opens new files in a windowed mode. I click on the maximize icon and then I have my full working space. But whenever I change to another picture it is in windowed mode. So I have to click again to maximize. Once I have done this, after changing the full window stays. Question is: How do I tell Photoshop to open all new images in a maximized window? Conflow, perhaps you have a solution?????
  10. I have had problems in the past with screensaver taking over my show. I always give a helpfile along with my shows which I give to other people. But wouldn't it be possible to let PTE disable the screensaver for the time the show runs? Igor?
  11. Igor, Being a Matrox user, this is a relief to me Please take your time, me, I hate it when people rush me to do anything. But I am much to self-willed to let people tell me what to do
  12. Pictures to be jealous of!!!! How do you manage to get that close to animals? What camera are you using? One thing though, why are you using different formats for your pictures? I don't mean landscape and portrait, but I noticed some of the pictures are smaller than others. This is somewhat annoying if you watch the fading. I watched the show at a 1280x1024 resolution. Pictures were crystal clear. I don't live near the mountains (Holland is very flat), but I climb my way up every summer. Can only dream to make this kind of pictures.....
  13. I tried several, but some where to complicated to me because they worked with code, others didn't give enough options. But I ended up with two installers: Es-Wiz and SetupStream. Es-Wiz is great. Gives you the option to change the background of the installscreen. Gives you also the option to create a checkbox which allows the user to start the program (show) inmediately after the setup. But..... Es-Wiz is a slow starter. It took up to 20 seconds to show the setupscreen. If that is not a problem, use Es-Wiz. I finally decided to use SetupStream. There is no option to start the show and you can't change the background, but everything else you need is there. Starts up immediately after clicking the link and, being an impatient human, i appreciate that the most. But, see for yourself which one serves you. The homepage of Es-Wiz has changed. Can't find it on that page anymore, but you can download it elsewhere on the net. Here are the links: SetupStream Es-Wiz
  14. In my opinion is the pricing of PTE the best guarantee to avoid illegal copying. If only all softwaregigants realised themselves that a lot of private persons, who use their software just for a hobby and not for making a living need another pricingsystem than the professionals. I think this would bring down piratery a whole lot. For now, we all are goodwilling and search intensively for alternative free- or shareware. (Audacity, SetUpStream, QuickMenuBuilder etc.) Whenever I am asked how I made this "Powerpoint" presentation I keep it short. I tell them I use a nicely priced Russian program. And in the same breath I give them the url ánd assure it can be used in our native speak (which is nót Russian). It's a hard world we live in , but I think Igor rules in the end!
  15. I tried some demo's of paid programs, but when you aren't very experienced in programming, the possibilities are overwhelming. Most of the time you only need a few options. At least, if you only have to make an installer for a slideshow. Making an installer for something which interferes with the registry needs totally other options. Just try the different programs. Cost you some time, but in this case (freeware) no money!
  16. I always try to make my cd's at a 'dummy' level. Try to make it as easy as possible even to someone who doesn't know much about computers. I tried SetupStream for my last project. I also tried Ez-Wiz. Both programs are freeware. I liked Ez-Wiz because it has more layout possibilities and shows a checkbox at the end of the install to give someone the choice to start the show immediately. So there is no need to search for it. But... Ez-Wiz takes a long time to startup. That's why I finally chose SetupStream. If someone clicks on a link to start the setup and it takes for about 20 seconds before anything happens, they think nothing is going to happen at all! SetupStream does a good job.
  17. Eversince I joined the Pictures To Exe community in 2003 every version is getting better and better. Where my first show had some problems running on slower computers, my last show even did well on a very poor company networkcomputer (still using Windows NT). Looking at Pictures to Exe is like looking at sportmatches where the athletes sharpen one world record after another. Where does it stop? I have this terrific very big panorama of my husbands greatest nightmare: Mont Blanc de Cheillon (Wallis Switzerland). He had a narrow escape of a disaster on that one. Would be great to pan/zoom this picture in a show!
  18. Have you looked in the projectoptions whether PTE recognizes the right music duration? Maybe it is a matter of a corrupted mp3 file which does play but hasn't got the right specs... Marianne
  19. Hi, To start with, my family tells me I overreact a little bit (just scream very loud: Don't touch!!!) when anyone just as much as points a finger in the direction of my screen. But, ofcourse once in a while I do have to clean it. I don't have a laptop, but I own an Iiyama Vision Master Pro 512 which is a very clear, flatscreen crt monitor. I am still very much in love with it and clean it with care. I use someting which is called Screen 99. It comes in a spraycan. Just spray it on your screen, wait for about one minute and then carefully wipe it away with a soft cloth. Works perfectly. I don't know where you live, but it is a European product. For laptops I think it is called Safeclean
  20. Hm Brian, Aren't you confusing me with someone else? I never posted a link. Never even posted a show (yet). Where did you get that track? Marianne
  21. Whoop! I didn't mean to raise a row here! Dave: I didn't try resaving them because I know that mp3's act the same as jpeg's. Each time you resave them they lose a little more quality. When I work on a project I save the project until I am sure I am ready to resave it as mp3 to use in P2Exe. Brian: Whether or not you are right on this one, it can't cause my problem because I also used a whole track without editing anything. So I am pretty sure I didn't remove the mandatory lead-in of the track. Ed: I have used dBPower Amp to convert the original low quality (bitrate 128) mp3 to wav. Then opened the file in Audacity. Whenever it is mixed with another file the change of speed is noticeable. So not in the originally opened Audacity file, but only after the copy and paste action! I have compared them to make sure this is really so. Kurt: I looked again at the specs. But the conversion to wav is standard set to these figures. I didn't have original wav files, so that is also not a solution. I am very glad with all of your help. But I am beginning to think this is a matter of slightly corrupted files indeed. Furthermore, if I use these mp3's and resave them all with a bitrate of 192, what effect does that have on the original, only 128, files? I know that the files which where originally 320 are compressed more, but I don't think there is a way to decompress the low quality files to a level of 192. Or is this like it is with jpeg that I should better use the highest bitrate to resave? But doesn't that make my musicfile too big to handle for P2Exe? I am not always making my own mp3's, because than I would just use the not lossy WAV. And, come to think of it, when I use tracks of my own cd's, which I convert myself to WAV and then to mp3 I encounter no problems.... Thank you all for your very extensive answers! Marianne
  22. Hi, I have a weird problem. I use Audacity for compiling my music. I've done this several times and never noticed anything wrong. But now I have 5 mp3 fragments which I want to join. Whenever I cut and paste the speed of the track becomes different. I can hear it, because the sound gets either higher or lower, but I can also see it because in a track of nearly 4 minutes it can make a difference of up to 5 seconds! I have tried several things to find out what causes this speeddifference. Thought maybe the different quality of the mp3's were to blame (the bitrates differ from 128 to 320). Tried to convert them to wav before loading them into Audacity, but that doesn't make any difference. I finally sort of solved it by changing the speed by hand after the pasting. But this takes a lot of time in comparing the original with the final Audacity file. And I don't find it a very accurate way. I really can't tell if this problem was there before, because I usually don't use too much singing behind my shows. And I think in instrumental tracks the difference will be much more unnoticed. Any of you soundtechnicians have an idea?
  23. Harry, There is only one way to deal with this... Try to keep your thoughts as positive as possible. Medicine is of a very, very high standard nowadays. I work in a hospital and see miracles done with a regularity you won't believe. Your doctor seems not to be in a hurry. I see this as a good sign. If he is not in a hurry he is not too much alarmed. Keep this in mind! Marianne
  24. I'm not sure, but I think Daemon is the answer for your problem. Daemon is a virtual station, which loads all kind of images (.iso, .nrg etc). I don't think it is limited to a maximum size. So if you install Daemon, then load the .iso you can watch it as if it were on a dvd. As far as I know it is freeware. Try this link Daemon Tools
