  1. Colin, Thanks for posting your show. Sorry it's taken so long to comment but my home internet connection is so slow that I had to download to a stick in the office and bring it home to watch. Although I love black and white photography, I think you are right in that all the photographs in the presentation are better in colour. The music blends in well. I can't wait to see your airshow presentation. Regards, Paul
  2. Davy, I really enjoyed your presentation. Good moody shots and I liked the consistency of tone of the photographs. How did you achieve that effect? Looking forward to your next show! Paul
  3. Maureen, Thank you for posting this show and to Bill for hosting it. It brings back memories of a trip to Skye and Harris/Lewis in 2009. We, however, did not bring back such beautiful photographs. Well done to you and Mark. Regards, Paul
  4. Dave, Thank you for posting your show. I liked your animated intro and thought the candid portraits were brilliant. Nice camera, great lens, talented photographer. And that's from a Canon man! Paul
  5. Frans, Mickp, John and Andre, thanks for your feedback, it is most appreciated. I was taking so long getting the show finished, that I was starting to loose confidence. It is great to have it "completed" at last. John, I will check the level of the sea/loch and adjust accordingly. Its amazing how many times I have adjusted each of the photographs, but still find something I have missed as soon as I play the show. I was a bit concerned about the shimmer in the sky on the fist slide, and was not too happy with the movement of the poppy wreathe as I felt it was a bit juddery. If there are any hints on how to smooth that out, I would be most grateful. Paul
  6. A show done to the music "Brothers in Arms". 22mb file, resolution 1920 x 1080px, run time 4:46. This will not be eveybody's cup of tea, I'm afraid, but I welcome any comments and suggestions. Photographs were taken mostly in Scotland but also at the National Memorial Arboretum in Staffordshire. This is a moody show in keeping with the music. http://www.mediafire.com/file/iwfjl3ex395njd6/BROTHERS%20IN%20ARMS.exe
  7. Lin, I like your idea of the modular User's Manual but would not be able to help out with the writing of it due to lack of real experience with PTE. I would be more than happy to assist in any other way such as proof reading for example. Regards, Paul
  8. Paul (and Igor), No problems on the forum pages nor on the two webpage links Igor posted. I had to give up after over 90 minutes last night on Barry's "Echoes of Sky". I tried again this morning, with the same result. I also tried Beechbrook and another dead slow download. My dial up modem in Zimbabwe was faster! Maybe, one day, I will get to see Barry's show. Regards, Paul
  9. As I write this, I am downloading Barry's "Echoes of Sky" and it will take another 58 minutes to download the remainder 9.8MB! My ISP is BT and while normally slow (because of the exchange I am linked to) this is seriously annoying. So it may not just be you Paul. Regards, Paul
  10. Lin, I had not heard of Il Volo. Thanks for posting the link. Regards, Paul
  11. Dave, I really enjoyed that. Your photographs are spot on and I liked your use of the moving ball to lead us into one of the change-overs. Confirm you have spent many hours on the side of the pitch, perfecting the capture of those wickets falling! Regards, Paul
  12. I have just finished my first run through of Barry's Monochrome Magic and have picked up a lot of useful tips from this disc. I, for one, am grateful that Barry posted his "advert". I hope to translate this tutorial into better mono work and should be posting one or two projects that I have in early planning stages before too long. Regards, Paul
  13. I wonder why so many are battling with Windows 7. My Dell desktop came loaded with Vista, with which I had no problems. However, I purchased Windows 7 Home Premium from Amazon when it first came out in late 2009, basically just to play with it. I had the choice of loading it as 32 bit or 64 bit. I went the former route but wanting to make full use of the 6Gb RAM I have installed on my system, I reinstalled Windows 7 about a year ago as 64 bit. I had to reload all my software (MS Office, Photoshop, PTE, iTunes, Cool Edit etc) but have not had a single problem. My system updates itself regularly on the internet and is on Service Pack 1 now. I use Eset's NOD32 Antivirus 4, which works perfectly fine with 32bit and 64bit software on the computer. Maybe I should count myself lucky? One thing, though. I regularly clean the registry, and defrag at least once a year. I also believe that anti-virus programmes cause an awful lot of trouble on computers which are blamed on either the operating system or software. Back to the original problem. Perhaps Lenzcap needs to right click on the PTE Icon on his desktop, choose "Run as Administrator" and then reinstall the key. If that fails, download and install PTE 7Beta9. Open as administrator, and under the help menu, load the key. If that works for PTE 7, he should find that PTE 6.5 is also fully licenced and functional. Regards, Paul
  14. Lenzcap, Not sure which version you have on your computer, but suggest you download PTE 7 beta 9. Once it is on your computer, open beta 9 and under the Help Menu, select Enter New Licence Key. Enter your key there. Check to see it has worked by selecting About Pictures To Exe on the Help Menu. If all is in order, you should be able to use the version you have on your computer already. Regards, Paul
  15. Lin, The problem is, could we remember what to do if we turned the clock back? Regards, Paul
  16. Ave J, I still have 5.6 on my computer alongside 6.5 and now 7beta9. I can happily use any and all of them on my Windows 7, 64bit desktop. Why not download 6.5 and give it a go. You only need to purchase a new key if you also want an update of Video Builder. I did this recently for my upgrade to 6.5 when I decided to upgrade Video Builder at the same time. I had absolutely no problem with the installation. Regards, Paul
  17. Ave J, I have just tested my copy of 5.6 on my desktop running Windows 7 64bit Service Pack 1. No problems at all. Regards, Paul
  18. Cor, An excellent production. Although I cannot speak Dutch, the smattering of Afrikaans I picked up from my school days in the neighbouring Rhodesia, now Zimbabwe, allowed me to follow your narrative. Helen Martins will have been ostracised by her society in those days and therefore her art will have been too. I think you have handled the story in a sensitive way and the photographs do justice to her art. I can't recall the music which means that it blended well with the photography and did not overpower the storyline. Thanks for posting the show. Regards, Paul Zietsman
  19. Barry, Thanks for the tutorial. It makes the choice much simpler and easy to understand. It also makes me wonder if my photo club digital projector isn't getting a bit long in the tooth as is my desktop monitor! Regards, Paul
  20. Sheila, I see that I have a long way to go! Well done. Apart from the base, as you mentioned, it looked good to me. To give me an idea, what sort of work time did that take you? Regards, Paul
  21. Lin, If that's not creative, I don't know what is. I thought that was brilliant. The paint brush at the start is genius and I liked the moodiness both in the music and the photographs. Thank you for posting it. Regards, Paul
  22. Ken, Colin, Lin and Davy, Thanks for taking the time to download and comment on my first show. It is really encouraging. I had started the project at about lunchtime on Friday while my wife watched the Royal Wedding. After being forced into some manual labour in the garden in the afternoon, I "finished" at 01:30 on Saturday morning. Before posting, I reorganised it again twice. It's difficult to know when to stop. To make matters worse, it was only after posting that I realised I had not smoothed the animations! Regards to you all, Paul
  23. Herewith my first posting of a show. The pictures are very iffy - I was unable to get either David Cameron or Nick Clegg to grant me an interview or photo oportunity so had to rely on what I could find. I started the work in Beta 6 and finished it in Beta 7. Project was in 1024/768 ratio. Although a tongue in cheek production, I am more than willing to accept my critical fate. Its the only way I will improve. Yours in trepidation, Paul http://www.mediafire.com/file/v10px1dg7rqwos6/avvote.exe
  24. Lin, Thanks for the demo, it shows the potential for some interesting AVs. I shall be playing with this later today but also need to learn how to use the small video camera I bought my wife a couple of years ago! I have never taken to video but now maybe a good excuse to give it a try. Regards, Paul
  25. Igor, Your health is of greater importance than anything else. Listen to your doctors and get well soon. Regards, Paul
