Igor Posted September 24, 2007 Report Share Posted September 24, 2007 Barry,Both video cards in times faster than necessary in fact If I'm allowed I would like to recommend noiseless video card with heat-pipe cooling. I assume from your recommendations that the Nvidia 8600GT graphics card does have this heat pipe technoligy ?I have had a graphics card fail already due to the fan and it wasn't that old and what you say makes sense. Been having proplems with my main desktop for a while now and wanted to make it last another year, but thats not going to happen.I am OK with all the other componants of a PC, but want to be sure it will handle the premire slide show software without a hitch (PTE5)Barry Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

I think that heat-pipe technology is the way to go in the future for my own PC and would recommend it for others.Glad to hear that the 512MB GEFORCE 8600GT is recommend as I an also considering this card for an upgrade in the near future. Please contact to you computer store and ask for this video card with this cooling system. For example, Gigabyte suggests many models of video cards with using of heat-pipe cooling.Heat-pipe cooling is an excellent technology: noiseless and absolutely reliable.As I wrote above, NVIDIA Geforce 8600GT is an extremely fast and powerful video card for slideshows with Pan/Zoom effects. Previously I have purchased from local dealers that built the PC on site to an agreed specification and it was therefore possible to get to this level of detail. However lately it appears that all my local dealers have stopped building PC's in this way (at least in my part of UK) preferring to purchase in ready built units then "tweaking" them where necessary. This is driving me towards purchasing on the internet (eg from www.pcspecialist.co.uk) but I am reluctant to go down this route as it is easier to resolve problems with a local retail outlet. One I use as a demo machine for lectures and two were for my son and daughter-in-law. They both use Photoshop and do video editing and know their way around PC's. They are happy with their machines.A friend also recently bought another from them (only a couple of weeks ago) and is happy with that and I will get my next one there too.They do give a great level of choice and you can contact them too. Your comments on pcspecialist are encouraging. They are the internet supplier I felt happiest with. If I cannot get a local dealer then I think that is the route I will go.Thanks for your comments.
