Free Music / SFX Resource - Over 2000 Tracks
Eric Matyas replied to Eric Matyas's topic in General Discussion
They turned to dust long ago, but their stories live on... "STORIES OF LONG AGO" - (Looping) - is this week's brand new music creation of mine. As always, it's completely free to use in your projects with attribution, just like my thousands of music tracks, sounds and images. You can listen to it here: https://soundimage.org/wp-content/uploads/2026/10/Stories-of-Long-Ago.ogg And download it here: https://soundimage.org/fantasy-13/ Attribution information is here: https://soundimage.org/attribution-info/ Praise for Soundimage I don't often "toot my own whistle" but I am very proud of this: https://soundimage.org/praise-for-soundimage/ To those of you who have reached out, thank you for being so supportive! 🙂 -

Scrolling Through File List and Slide List Using Mouse Wheel (Mac)
GordW replied to GordW's topic in Troubleshooting
After thinking about you suggesting different programs and set-ups, I thought I would try using my Apple Magic Mouse on my backup Mac; seeing as the Magic Mouse has horizontal scrolling. In Lightroom, Lightroom Classic and iMovie it works exactly the same as my Logitech mouse; the expected operation. Of note is that it ALSO works the same way, as expected, in PTE AV Studio! When the cursor is positioned in the file list, scrolling vertically works, scrolling horizontally is disabled. When the cursor is positioned in the slide list, scrolling horizontally works, and scrolling vertically is disabled. Obviously the issue is the mouse set-up. I'm not sure if it's something within PTE AV Studio or the Logitech software that is causing the unexpected behaviour. Thanks, Gord -
Scrolling Through File List and Slide List Using Mouse Wheel (Mac)
GordW replied to GordW's topic in Troubleshooting
Hi Igor, Thank you for the follow-up. It makes sense that you concentrate on the 'typical' setup. I had not thought to check and compare how my mouse works in iMovie. In Lightroom Classic, when the cursor is in the image display area in grid view, the vertical scroll wheel scrolls through the images and the horizontal wheel is inactive. Positioning the cursor to the filmstrip area, the horizontal scroll wheel scrolls. Interestingly, the vertical scroll wheel also scrolls when the cursor is posotioned in the filmstrip area. In iMovie, when the cursor is positioned in the browser area, the vertical wheel scrolls, the horizontal wheel is inactive. Positioning the cursor in the timeline window, the horizonal wheel scrolls and the vertical wheel is inactive. I hope this helps. Please let me know if you would like me to do any further testing on other programs or set-ups. Thanks, Gord -
Scrolling Through File List and Slide List Using Mouse Wheel (Mac)
Igor replied to GordW's topic in Troubleshooting
Hi, Could you check how the mouse works with other programs on your Mac or Windows computers and compare with PTE AV Studio, specifically in programs that have list (panels) with both - horizontal and vertical scrolling? For example, the free iMovie app on Mac might be a good candidate for such a checking. It’s difficult for me to verify this myself, as we don’t currently have Logitech MX Master 4. Our assumption was that the typical, primary setup on Windows and Mac - a mouse with a single scroll wheel or Magic trackpad on a Mac. -
Hi, Could you clarify where this link ("Get free music") is located? In PTE AV Studio (Project Options), forum, or WnSoft website? 2. And what link do you see in your browser when the 404 error appears? Please copy the exact URL from the browser. I'll check the link.

Greetings, Ok...I cleared the Recent Recent Projects and started over. When I open a .pte from File Manager, the Slides get populate with the show's images. Ok. But then I have to go to the directory list and find the associated folder for the images to appear in the 'File Name' window. Wouldn't it be nice if the File Name window gets populated automatically once you Open a .pte file from File Manager? It is a pain to have to hunt through the folders to locate the associated images once the .pte has been selected and populated in the Slides. Gary

Greetings Igor, I had already updated to version 12, and I updated to import setting from the previous version. Haven't had any problems. However, when I just updated to of 12.0.5 (just the free update), the problem started. When I do a File/Open and choose a .pte show, PTE will show the images of the show in the Slides. But, the 'File name' window in PTE retains the files from a previous show or jumps to some other unrelated list of Directories. It does not populate with the files from the show I just opened. Didn't do that before or am I just losing my mind???? There is something not right and it only started when I did the free update to the current 12.0.5 version. The fact that the 'Open Recent Project' did not show any of the recent projects, and only showed very old projects, there is something not working correctly since I did the update. Gary

I can't open Styles and Themes in PTE 12.04 [SOLVED]

I uploaded a poem to chatGPT and asked it to create a slideshow. Each line in the poem stanza added one second to the slide duration. It was interesting. I still prefer manual creation over the AI version. Tom

Hi Garry, We didn’t change this behavior in V12. When you installed V12 for the first time, the program prompted you to import settings from the previous version (V11) on first run. You need to confirm this action. Right now, you can uninstall V12 and reinstall it, importing your settings from V11. Sorry, I'm not sure that understood rightly. When PTE is opened, you can open projects from the main menu > File > Open... or by clicking the Open icon in the top toolbar. The File panel displays only images, videos and audio files. Not project files.

I updated to 12.0.5, Build 2. It did not save my ‘Recent Open Project’ list or my ‘File Open’ default location. Sort of a pain to re-input that info. Why would it have done this with this update when in the past updates kept all my settings? The 'Recent Open Project' listed a bunch of very old projects that I have not opened in a long time. And...when I have PTE opened, and click on a folder for a project to open, only the files show up in 'File name'. It does not open the PTE file to show the project. What's going on????? To open a project, I have to click on the .pte in MyComputer. Gary

I've been thinking about this for a while. Quick test with ChatGPT. Prompt: Changes: Music: “The Lusty Month of May,” Julie Andrews and Ensemble. Duration: 91 seconds. Music starts at the beginning and fades out over the final 5 seconds. Resolution: 1280 × 720, 24 fps. All 15 photographs retained. Camera movement eliminated to address the jerkiness. Smooth one-second dissolves between images. This version emphasizes the photographs, music, and transitions without distracting camera movements. Pretty basic. Verdict? I prefer turning the wrenches (spanners) myself. It's more fun. Cotswolds_Camelot_720p_Under7MB.mp4

It is so easy to edit the music in PTE. Make the music fit the slides, not the other way around. But always keep the natural start and end of a piece and edit it in the middle. I can spend hours editing the music so it fits the images precisely. Then the image timing and transitions also fit the music. The two are linked and the timings have to work for both. But in my AV's the music is very much part of the work and dictates the pace and flow of the story. But if your music is purely background wallpaper then it should be very easy to edit. Just listen and look at the waveform. PTE does an excellent job of blending two pieces together when you overlap them. Jill
-
Similarly I always end up struggling to deal with the music. For my travelogue shows I typically end up with 200+ slides, some of which are jpg images and some mp4 clips. I try to add those first and then follow it up with music. Some of the music clips are just nice background cuts but I also put in pieces that relate to particular slides (e.g., Tie Me Kangaroo Down for images of Kangaroos at a wildlife preserve). No fault of the program but it is sometimes excruciating getting the various timings right.

Well, I think it’s an option worth considering. Since photos are the most commonly used content, I’d say the most useful features are photo restoration prompts, as well as quality enhancement, and a whole host of other things. You can already use it on WhatsApp with Meta AI, or in a browser with Gemini, and many others, but having it more readily available within PTE would be really interesting. Although, as they say… you’ve opened a can of worms, there will be both positive and negative opinions, but to each their own. But the ones who need to look into this interesting possibility are Igor and his team. Edited Sorry about the translation, it doesn't really translate the way I wrote it.
