For enthusiasts who would like to see how future Anti-shimmering option will work in v5.6, can try this option right now (in v5.5 it works in the editor, mini-player, AVI, DVD and not in EXE file): In .pte project file, find object and the next line: MipLevels=0 Change to MipLevels=1

For images which you will use for Zoom effect: 1. Don't use nor Bicubic Sharper resampling, nor Unsharp filter. 2. Sometimes it's necessary to apply slight Gaussian filter or enable "Blur" option in PicturesToExe for that image. In some cases shimmering still can occur (especially if you set zoom from large size 100% to very small - 1% for example). In future version 5.6 we'll add special anti-shimmering option which completely removes moire in any cases, but the image will look a little soft.

I bought Epson TW2000 (1080UB) projector mainly for movies and secondly for watching slideshows. This projector has 1920x1080 screen resolution which exactly matches to Blu-Ray movies. Of course, the most of other slideshows I have seen created for 1280x1024 screen size. But I plan create my future slideshows at 1920x1080, because I'll burn these slideshows on AVCD disc or Blu-Ray disc. Also I watch quickly created sequences of my new photos on the projector at full 1920x1080 resulution. And photo look very impressive on a large screen with deep colors and high resolution. As I know only projectors for home cinema (now it's 1920x1080 FullHD) delivers highest quality of a picture, high contrast (natively 4000:1 and more) and deep rich colors. Low fan noise. Epson TW2000 (1080UB), JVC HD100, Sony VW60, etc.

Lin, Yes, in Beta 7 or 8.
-
Ray, I confirm this problem. Sorry about such obvious bug. Cor, I'll check up tomorrow.
-
Ops, I'll fix it in Beta 7. Thanks
-
Al, Please explain in more details, I didn't understand, sorry. - As I know you can drag a new slide from the File panel and insert to the time where you want. - In Slide list you can insert new slide between two current one. Don't forget about state of "Hold time points" option in status bar when Slide list on the screen. I have just added "Set End of Last Slide at End of Music" command to "Timed points" menu in Timeline view to next Beta 7. Also I added auto-adjusting when you set splitter near to end of slideshow (+/- 200 ms.) to precisely end the show with end of music.
-
Peter, I think it's a good idea and Al also suggested this option (as Project options). Having read your thoughts why it should be accessed as a command (not as option), I finally received confirmation to my own thoughts how it should be done. I'll add this option to "Timed points" menu.Andrew, I'm thinking about this possibility now - can it be realized or not.

Beta 6: http://www.wnsoft.com/apr/apr-deluxe_beta.zip (5 MB) + Updated some language files. + Click on time label (0:14) in mini-player sets the cursor to very beginning of the show. Click on slideshow duration label (7:77) moves cursor to the end of a slideshow. + Faster work of the timeline on very long slideshows (one hour and longer). + Light table (F4) can be accessed from Timeline mode. + You can adjust end of a slideshow on the timeline (dragging vertical green line after last slide). Please look at this screenshot: Barry, I hope that problem with Windows Vista will not occur anymore in this beta.
-
Haver, It's not a visual bug. Place two slides, each one with 1 sec's duration and 1 second for transition effect. And you'll see.
-
Barry, Press Shift+Del to remove only transition point keeping slide. Because Timeline and Slide list both are located in the main window they should utilize same common functions and hotkeys. For this reason Del removes slide. You can do it via popup menu | Explorer sub-menu. There is a danger if we add Del key for this, because all other file operations of PicturesToExe in the main window are virtual and don't delete real files.Concerning problem with Beta 5 under Windows Vista. We've added some changes and I hope it will not happen again. If crashes will occur again in Beta 6 or later, please let me know.

Thank you for all your responses, suggestions and bug-reports! I'll reply step by step on all messages. Barry, The bug you described in post #121 with selecting and dragging keypoints or slides: http://www.picturestoexe.com/forums/index....ost&p=52471 I have already fixed in Beta 5. It happened when an effect duration is equal or longer than duration of its slide. Al, I'll add this function to mini-player. I can't do it technically. After integration to the main window, timeline is only alternate view of Slide list. If slide exists it should be displayed in the timeline, impossible to hide keypoint of a slide. Thanks, I already know about this problem and thinking how to fix it. I'll make moveable this vertical red line to ajudst duration of a slideshow. I thought about an option with automatical adjusting of duration, but it causes various logical problems if add new slide to the end or re-arrange slides. I'll try to make it possible. Technically it possible, just I have to add one more layout. If it really necessary, I'll make it in the next version(s).

Grid will appear in Beta 6 of version 5.5
-
Barry, 1. It happened only once, or Beta 5 doesn't start under Windows Vista at all? 2. Did you try previous beta versions under Vista? 3. And how version 5.1 works? p.s. I'll reply on other questions tomorrow. Thanks!

Beta 5: http://www.wnsoft.com/apr/apr-deluxe_beta.zip (5 MB) * Fixed bugs of previous betas with displaying of some images in "Original size" mode. (It didn't affect on created EXE files). Thanks to Jean-Pierre who helped us to find and reproduce several such mistakes during beta-testing of v5.5 * Fixed small other bugs in Slide list. * Fixed bug with error messages because of mini-player on some project.
-
Barry, Thanks! I'm very glad. There is huge Play/Stop "button" - just click left mouse button on mini-player
-
Sorry, I have forgot about your request. Please remind me the problem.

Brian, Version 4.49 still available on our website and anyone can download it and buy a license key. For new version 5.xx we've developed a brand new slideshow's engine which can work in two modes: - Using hardware acceleration of a video card (for smooth playback of Pan/Zoom effects). - Or using only CPU for all graphical computations, like v4.xx. To turn PicturesToExe into the second CPU based mode you have to disable "Use hardware acceleration..." in Main menu | View | Advanced options and in Project options | Screen tab. In this mode PicturesToExe utilizies almost same memory volume as the old version 4.49. All effects (excluding Mosaic with 300x300+ parameters) work with same smoothness as in v4.49. We couldn't realize only "Transition effect from/to desktop" option, because it works not enough well even in 4.49 under Windows Vista. I think other changes appeared in v5.xx has improved PicturesToExe: Ken Burns effect, Undo/Redo, scalable objects of a slide, creating DVD-Video discs, etc. To successfully compete on the market, we had to do these changes and improvements. I admit that we could release two products, but it complicate things, I think.
-
Ron, Did you try previous beta releases of new version 5.5? And what current version of PicturesToExe you use successfully? Please let me know about version of Windows and video card. Such problem may points that there is a problem with drivers of video card. Download and install latest one.
-
Brian, It's impossible to include v4.49 engine to v5.xx. Sorry.
-
Not yet. I have an alternate variant, but it would be better if ATI could fix it in their drivers. I'm trying to convince a person from ATI that it's necessary, but no success yet. They understand and confirm this problem but have no time to fix it.

Beta 4: http://www.wnsoft.com/apr/apr-deluxe_beta.zip (5 MB) * You can add transition point during playback with preview and music doesn't interrupt. * Fixed small bug of previous betas - added images display with bold font in File list. * Fixed bug with incorrect display of tiled background in previous betas. * Fixed bug of mini-player when error message "Exception EInvalidOp in module apr.exe" could appear in previous betas. This beta allows to add new transition points on the fly. Colin, Please try now with Beta 4.
-
Colin, Thanks, I've reproduced this bug. Will fix it in Beta 4.
-
Andrew, I know, we're working now on modified mini-player which will allow to add new points on the fly without interrupting of music and with preview. It will be ready not earlier than in a week.
