  1. Eric, Obviously I have no control over how a person post (or doesn't post) remarks about their shows on the PTE Forum. Ken has alluded to what often happens here on the forum. For years on Beechbrook I have provided a method or vehicle which allows authors to post notes about their shows. Some use it, while others do not. Again... I have no control. I also provide an automated method for announcing new shows on my site which gives a link to my download pages. Only a tiny fraction of forum visitors use it. If one subscribes to these notices, choosing the embedded link will give the download size of the shows and an option to review any "Author's Notes". Again, if the author neglected to leave any remarks, we have nothing to review. The "Author's Notes" section was actually suggested by a visitor several years ago following their frustration in obtaining additional show information. (Yep, a long standing problem). I wrote the code, placed it online, and to my knowledge that visitor has never returned. Oh well ! As always I remain open to visitor comments and suggestions as to how to best serve the PTE community's needs. Best regards, Bill
  2. Mary, I appreciate your interest in my site and your recent donation towards my maintenance and hosting costs. And I'm ready to host your shows whenever you are ready to release them. Bill
  3. Thanks to those of you that took the time to comment on the recent changes for Beechbrook. As always I appreciate your interest. Hopefully in all the years of posting email addresses on the download pages, no one has suffered negative consequences because of it. I've heard from a few users that wish the PTE Automatic Notifications to remain. So they will ! I receive very few comments overall about the good verses bad of Beechbrook. Therefore I have limited data to rely on. I am always open to your views, suggestions and comments. If the current configuration works for the masses, I'll continue with this format. If there needs to be changes, well... I'm open to that also. Regards, Bill
  4. Greetings all, Here's an update of recent changes for Beechbrook.com. Since my early days of hosting PTE shows, a portion of the author's email address has always been displayed on the PTE Download pages. Today I have modified the code to show only the author's name. Email addresses and names are still required during the Upload session; however email addresses will no longer be displayed publicly. This is also true in the Author's Notes sections. In my 20 years of working with Beechbrook, no one has ever complained (at least to me ) about this requirement. Today I simply removed it. Hopefully it has been seen as an asset in helping visitors make contact with show authors. Going forward, the PTE Forum may be the alternative method for making such contact. Additional changes; There appears to be little need for my PTE RSS Feed anymore, so as of today it will cease. Of the tens of thousands of downloads from Beechbrook yearly, few visitors have opted to be automatically notified of new presentations. This maillist feature may be removed in the near future. I welcome your questions and comments. Best regards, Bill
  5. Maureen, Another fine presentation. I know many of us on the forum always look forward to your shows. And yes, you are once again a step ahead of me in getting your images sorted out and into a presentation. I was right there with you throughout your show. Like Jim Robertson, Karen and I visited the area back in 2009. My images still await a proper show! Thanks for your good work, and taking us all on another of your journeys. Bill
  6. This is not new information, but related to what Ken is suggesting. If uploading to Beechbrook.Com, an area is provided during the upload session entitled "Author's Notes" where users can add a 64,000 character description related to their show. This information is made available to everyone via a link posted along with the author's show on the PTE Download Pages. Additional options are also available on the PTE Download Pages to view Author's Notes sorted by title or by author. Regards, Bill
  7. Dave, So good to see you back again!! Yes, it's been ages since we last had a presentation from you. However, you certainly haven't lost your touch. Hope to see much more now that your 'school days' are over. Well for a while at least. Knowing you, you might just try something else!! And congratulation on a successful completion of your recent degree. I remember you saying back when you first started it was going to be challenging. Now on the your next adventure. All the best, Bill
  8. Greetings and Happy New Year to all ! In the last few days I've received several new PTE presentations on Beechbrook. What I find is that often times shows are uploaded, but for one reason or another the author never post anything about them on the forum. My MailList for automatically notifying folks about these shows only has a few subscribers. Please accept this as an invitation to see some really good and creative work that some of you might not be aware of. Regards, Bill
  9. Thanks Gayland. Yep - 2500+. Lots of work to do before anything comes from them though. And as others on the forum know... I'm light years behind on putting something together from several of our travels. All the best, Bill
  10. Season's Greetings everyone! We have returned from our holiday, and I have reopened the PTE Upload Utility on Beechbrook.Com. Regards, Bill
  11. The PTE Upload Utility on Beechbrook.Com is temporarily closed while we are on holiday. I will reopen the utility later in December. Regards, Bill
  12. Howard, A very engaging and moving tribute! Thank you for sharing this with us. Your presentation allows us all to 'Ride to the Wall'. It was beautifully crafted with stirring images, music and commentary. I look forward to your future work. And congratulations on your MPAGB award (http://www.staffs-av.org.uk/News.html). Quite an accomplishment indeed !! Bill Here is a direct link to Howard's tribute on Beechbrook - A different take on Remembrance
  13. I added a link to Jeff's post about his new shows. Bill
  14. Congratulations on another wonderful presentation Maureen. You can be quite proud of your photography while there. It certainly shows in the presentations you allow us all to enjoy. Such great depth of field, sharpness and composition in your images. Wonderful color and light. You continue to inspire and amaze me. Thank you for sharing once again. Bill
  15. Andrew, We've been to Edinburgh, but never to the Tattoo. We've been to Highland games in the states, but not in the UK. Even attended a Fringe festival before, but you've managed to put it all together, and quite well indeed. Thanks for sharing!! Great job. You could see that Scottish pride in many a face. Regards, Bill
  16. Maureen, You just don't quit cranking out those marvelous presentations do you ??!! WOW. I've got to get a copy of your workflow someday. Just great stuff. Wonderful colors, perfect music (sort of mystery like). And of course your perfect photography. Crystal clear, tack sharp images with great depth of field. Enjoy your upcoming holiday. I'll expect more from you on your return! Regards, Bill
  17. Trust me... there is no virus coming from my site. You must be receiving a false positive like often happens with certain Anti Virus programs and PTE. The file has been scanned and rescanned, both zipped and unzipped!! Bill
  18. Maureen has provided us with yet another wonderful and soothing show. Great photography, wonderful prospectivies. Makes you want to catch the next ship! IMPRESSIONS OF THE ADRIATIC available on Beechbrook.Com. Bill
  19. Beautiful Paul. Thanks for sharing. - Bill
  20. Bert, I am certainly no authority on this issue !!! However, when I make shows that I wish to watch on my HDTV, I always make them 1920x1080 which gives full screen on the HDTV. To my knowledge it has nothing to do with the resolution set on your PC. While you are waiting for a true authority, (DaveGee or Lin) to respond, why not make a short test show using 1920x1080 and see how it shows on your TV? Regards, Bill
  21. Tom, Great video and just an amazing grandchild. I've watched this over and over and marvel at his abilities. Thanks for sharing. Bill
  22. Davy, Enough said. Lets put it to rest. Beechbrook has guidelines. My decision, end of discussion. Now on with the A/Vs and slide shows. Bill
  23. Call it what you will Davy, those have been my guidelines since 1992. That's fairly close to 20 years. With 611,682 downloads to date, at least there are a couple of folks that don't mind my rules.
