  1. Some image editors (like Pixelmator Pro) allow you to save an image as MP4. This creates a high quality single keyframe video file. I can then set the duration in PTE to 5 seconds. It then works in Object and Animation editor but not in mini player or preview. I can Publish as MP4 but not as .pteav file. Not a serious problem but interesting.

  2. I have been testing AirParrot 3 to stream to my bedroom HDTV. It is an older Sony HDTV with one HDMI port and that does not have integrated support for any of the 3 popular wireless display technologies. Instead I have a Google Chromecast device. I have Airparrot 3 setup as Display 2 when using PTE so I can preview my slideshows on the HDTV without using a HDMI cable. I had previously tried using Google Chrome Cast Desktop option but was not happy with the results.

Available for Windows and Mac. I use the Mac version. There is a downloadable 7 day demo version.

My Chromecast device. It is often on sale at Amazon. I think mine was $25 for the 4K version.

  3. If I remember correctly the Windows 64 bit for both .exe and .zip limit is 4 GB. If you create a .pteav you can create larger file sizes. I remember testing a few years ago and I had a slideshow of many videos with a duration of days. Then you can associate the player in Windows to run the .pteav files.

  4. Windows laptops usually have an option to run from the CPU graphics (Intel HD) or external graphics( Nvidia). I think if you right click under properties I think you can change the graphics mode. You might try the opposite to see if the problem is better or worse.

  5. While testing some Google fonts I noticed that many do not include bold versions. When the bold option is enabled PTE does a font substitution. If possible create a synthetic bold version of the font like Boxy SVG does. I think Photoshop has Faux Bold option too. Many graphic editors just have regular font with bold disabled.  Also the font rendering on Festive looks different.

  6. Generative AI is very interesting. The background fills are sometimes very good. Mona Lisa has been a favorite subject for fills.

Tested in photopea. One image I told it to fill with mountains. For the other image I did not tell it to fill with anything and it added some random objects. I have no idea what machine learning algorithm it uses to fill in with objects. The colors it chose are very good overall but the blending is not perfect.

AI is also being used to create music, design, and write. AI copyright is a hot topic.

Maybe some day PTE will have AI. "PTE, design a presentation lasting 3 minutes about my holiday in Hawaii using my photos and tropical music."

  7. Very nice.

I wonder what it must be like for children that grow up with the internet and smartphones/tablets everywhere. I was about 35 years old before the internet was available with the world wide web and did not get my first smartphone until I was about 50 years old.  I know my nieces and nephews started using tablets before they could walk or talk. Sometimes I miss newspapers, comics, handwritten letters, and research in libraries.

  8. Hi Denis,

I agree it would be a nice feature. Currently on a Mac (11.0.3) it's possible to create a show with HEIC files and publish as a Windows Safe Executable for PC. When the Windows PC tries to run the show it will show an error message on a HEIC file. Ideally Windows version of PTE would support HEIC or the Mac would provide a compatibility warning during publish.
