  1. Terry, This can happen if you have a lot of transitions very close together as v.4 attempts to play each transition, so can get behind in time. The timing can also be different in this case than it is in the timeline preview.
  2. Craig, Congratulations for persisting with this. CD drives can be tricky sometimes, especially when it comes to auto-running. By the way, what type of music are you using in your show? Sometimes CD drives have problems sorting out "wav" files in PTE shows, so "mp3" is the way to go. The "exe" files should play OK from a CD if you double-click on them in MS Explorer or MyComputer. Maybe an older drive or possibly a defective one?? Try it out on a couple of other pc's first before giving up on it.
  3. I received a note from AVG that they are looking into this possible false positive indication. Meanwhile, it seems to be only shows created with a certain older vintage of PTE (similar to the previous outbreak of false positives concerning PTE shows). As indicated in the images below, the Explorer icons for these shows are all of the same design (and vintage of PTE). FYI, I have also included the warning messages from AVG to indicate the type of virus AVG is claiming these files possess.
  4. Craig, I'm a little confused by the direction this thread is heading. You started out by asking for a way to number the slides (you can do this in "Proj Ops / Comments / Set text comment for new slides" and choose the "Slide Number" option. Don't forget to click on "Set for existing slides".) Then you asked about an automatic expiry feature; this will work only in an "exe" file, not a dvd as created in "Video Builder" or other video software. To use this feature, select "Enable time limited usage" in Project Ops, and then create your slideshow as an "exe" file, and "copy" it to a cd or a dvd (a cd should be large enough to hold it, unless it is a very large show, or you are including a lot of the original images for your client). You can make the cd (or dvd) autorun by including an "autorun.inf" file in the same root directory as the exe file. The "inf" file should have the format as described in the following forum thread: http://www.picturestoexe.com/forums/index....&hl=autorun Best of luck!
  5. Barrie, Welcome to the Forum! It sounds like your new laptop should easily handle the sequence as you describe it. Maybe you have other processes running on it simultaneously that are using up the resources and interfering with the running of the PTE file? If you post the show with the airplane on a website or via "mediafire", some of us could have a look at it to see how it performs on another pc.
  6. Mario, I don't know if anyone has mentioned this in any of the tutorials or previous posts, but it is also possible to copy objects (along with their keypoints) from one slide to another. Depending on the timing of the receiving slide, the keypoints may be a bit mixed up and not make much sense on the second slide, however. Worth a try, though, as it may be possible without too much effort to make the necessary adjustments in order to have them work properly.
  7. Welcome back, Igor - glad you finally had a good vacation. It is good to replace the air in one's lungs with that in the mountains and at the sea on a regular basis. It is a credit to you and your team that no serious bugs in PTE have surfaced while you were away. And, we're looking forward to many more ingenious developments in PTE and VB in the future!
  8. It will if you add your title as an object to each slide. It's not difficult to do - just copy and paste it to each of the other slides in O&A. Instead of using the main "slide effect" transition to slide the main images, though, you may have to use PZR effects instead, in order to maintain the title object in a fixed position. Lots of ways to "skin a cat" with PTE. But this way is better than trying to pack all of your images onto one O&A screen.
  9. Mario, Put all your slides on the slide list, add the appropriate transition in "Customize slide", and then apply the PZR actions separately to each main image. (i.e zooming in, etc - you can use the "slide" transition in "Customize slide" to move the image off-screen and bring in the next slide)
  10. Pedro, Welcome to the Forum! That looks like a real plumber's paradise and you have captured it quite well! The twirling images are reminders of the turning of the many valves in what must have been an engineering marvel in its day. The addition of some sound would enhance this effect. Thanks for sharing it with us.
  11. FYI, today during an anti-virus scan (with AVG), the program, while going through my directories containing various saved shows which I had downloaded over the past year or so, started tagging them as containing the "BackDoor Hupigon2.KG" Trojan horse virus, and deleting them. Fortunately I happened to notice what was going on and stopped the program before too much damage was done (I also had most of them backed up as well). I have written to AVG to verify whether this is a repeat of the problem we had with them some time ago, or whether the threat is real. In the meantime, be careful what you scan with either AVG or Kaspersky, as I had a similar problem with the latter a-v program when I ran their on-line trial scan yesterday.
  12. yguy, I looked at your pte file, and the only anomaly I can detect with "Adjustor" is that two of your "Text" objects, (one on slide #2, and the other on slide #7), appear to use the "Fit to slide" mode instead of "Cover" mode, which is the default for this type of object. This is a mode parameter that is not normally adjustable in PTE so I suspect that something may have distorted your PTE file in the creation and/or process of trying to get it to work.
  13. Jeff, I had included my email address, but taking it off your website works just as well, too. I downloaded your example, and everything appears to me to work as it should. The only thing I can see is that, because the left side of the first horizontal image is very bright, and is fading to black, it appears to persist longer than the rest of the image. Otherwise, everything looks fine to me.
  14. Hi, John, Welcome to the Forum! This is a new twist - usually people ask how to let the sound keep on playing during the following slide. To cut off the narration when the next slide starts, add the narration using the "sound comment" line (on the bottom right-hand side of the main window), and leave "Don't interrupt sound comment when next slide appears" unchecked in "Project Options / Music". Or, if you want the sound interrupted only when certain slides appear, add the sound file in the "Customize slide" menu, and then check "Play new background music file(s)" in the "Customize slide / Music" menu for the slide which you want to stop the selection playing. You can leave the list of music blank, or you can add new sound which will start up and replace the other when this slide is reached. Hope this helps.
  15. Jeff, I would be interested in having a look at those images - alrobin @ alrobinson.com (remove the spaces). Good luck in solving this. It sounds like a video memory thing.
  16. non, Welcome to the Forum! Make sure you change the codec from "pictures to exe" to "MPEG4" or some other codec that works best for you. Otherwise, the temporary avi that is created when using the "pte" codec will be erased when you close the ".pte" file. It is only a temporary "avi" to be used in conjunction with a 3'rd party program such as Nero or Premiere Elements, etc.
  17. Bart, Where you will notice the biggest difference is where you have several transitions close together, and also where you use several objects in O&A, with many PZR actions happening at once. It should also smooth out the little glitch in PZR action at the point where a transition ends, or the next one begins.
  18. I would like to second Brian's suggestion re RJL's autorun utility. I was having intermittent problems getting the simple autorun to work on my pc, but on Brian's advice I installed the Autorun program from RJL and have not had a problem since.
  19. The problem is one of logic, and definition of just what is meant by "scaling". Igors note HERE gives a little insight into the magnitude of the design work required.
  20. Bart, I would say that it is worth upgrading the video card, especially if you are happy with the performance of your present system on other applications. You should even be able to find a second-hand video card with at least 128 or 256 Mb of VRAM that would be compatible with your system. Make sure you determine first whether your present card uses PCI or AGP control. I suspect it's "AGP". The only other upgrade that might be worthwhile would be to add another 512 Mb of system RAM.
  21. I don't know why it wouldn't work for you - on my system when I select "Customize slide", check "Scale keypoints ...", and then change the duration time for that slide, the times for two test keypoints remain fixed, as indicated by "O&A / Animation / Keypoint Time". Then when I de-select this option, scaling continues as before.
  22. Dave, Congratulations - that worked quite well! You have an interesting variety of transportation over there!
  23. Beth, I don't know if this was pointed out yet or not but you can also set each slide so that it will wait for manual control by highlighting each slide on the slide list, and then selecting "Customize slide / Main / Timing / Stop at the end of this slide".
  24. Hi, Peter, I don't recall any mention of a keyboard shortcut for sound editing. That is an interesting menu option that you pointed out. Looks like it may be there for future use as a shortcut. On my system the program seems to remember the "Audition" setting. Haven't tried opening PTE again after rebooting the pc, though.
  25. That may be the source of your trouble - PTE v.5 requires at least 64 Mb of VRAM, and a minimum of 128 is recommended for smooth running of some of the more complex sequences. You should also check to ensure you are running Direct X 8.1 or higher (see "Systemrequirements" section of "Help" menu in PTE v.5.3). You could try reducing the image sizes even more (say to 50 - 100 kb per image) to see if that makes any difference.
