  1. Beautiful photography, Lin! Mind telling us how large those images are? My system (with older ATI 9600 vid card and monitor set at 1680x1050) was able to handle them quite well. This beats HD.
  2. That's correct - I could not find any way to edit that comment in Lightroom. But Lightroom knows that it is there because it saved it in the "xmp" file. Maybe you could edit it in the "xmp" file, as it appears to be just a text file. It's purpose is to transfer metadata from one application to another, particularly in the case of proprietary "raw" images. But I don't see how you would re-associate that data with a jpeg image, itself.
  3. Lightroom doesn't display the "comment" EXIF field. It doesn't even include in the list of possible data to view for one's images. (see second and third images below). However, it does recognize it and will include it if you request an ".xmp" file. (see first image below). I verified this by creating a comment right in the camera's "Menu", and looking for it in Lightroom and the information page in IrfanView as well as "Exifer" (see attached 4th and 5th images). And, PTE picks it up just fine, as expected, as an EXIF "comment" (see last example).
  4. Hi, Dominique, I'm very happy to hear that you have found some commercial applications for your templates - more power to you! We understand fully that you can't be expected to give away designs while others are willing to pay you for them. Many of the users of PTE are using it in commercial applications, and it must be very encouraging to Igor to know that his invention is bringing financial success to others. All the best in this venture!
  5. Geoff, You're right - this is not a big problem - merely a potential annoyance or example of illogical operation. And, you're also right in that, in an all-manual show, there would be no reason to pause it. However, not all shows are totally manual - I have been working with a friend on a presentation where she wanted to have some slides stop dead until advanced manually, but wanted other sections of the show to run in timed mode - unless she wanted more time on a particular slide, in which case she would use the space bar to pause. If, during the presentation, she forgot that a particular slide was "stopped dead", and pressed the space bar, intending to pause the show at that point, under the present conditions it would advance instead, thereby destroying the continuity of the show. Also, if she were to send this show to a friend that person would not know which slides were stopped and which were not, so attempting to use the spacebar to pause a slide and finding that it advanced instead could be frustrating. But, you're right - it's not a big deal, but one which I have had personal experience with already, so it could be a bigger problem in some circumstances.
  6. Yes, I agree this is the way it works now. However, don't you think it could be a little confusing if someone is a little late clicking on the space bar, and suddenly instead of "pause" he or she causes the slide to "advance" instead? One millisecond the spacebar could signal "pause", and the next millisecond it could signal "advance". Why do we need the spacebar to advance in this case? - there are sufficient other ways to continue the show (eg. right arrow, mouse button). The space bar should be reserved to toggle between pause and continue in the normal manner. "Continue" doesn't mean "advance" - IMHO, if a slide is being held until a "forward" command is requested, the spacebar shouldn't provide this forward command. The show should still wait for an arrow key or a left or right mouse button, even if the spacebar is pressed several times in succession for a slide which is customized to wait for a key or mouse click before advancing. This is not a huge problem - the ambiguity only occurs in the split second before the animation is complete so if it's a difficult thing to program, I wouldn't be concerned about it. It's just that when running your ATI test show I experienced it myself, and was surprised that all of a sudden, pressing the space bar actually caused the slide to advance instead of merely toggling the "pause" command off.
  7. Igor, I agree with you - the spacebar should be reserved for the "Pause/Play" toggle switcher. Maybe I'm not making myself clear. The problem is that the space bar already causes the show to advance to the next slide when "Customize slide / Wait for a keypress ...." is selected for a slide. In your ATI test example, if I wait for 5 seconds with the first slide waiting for a keypress, and then press the spacebar, it will advance the slide to the next one.
  8. Igor, Pressing the spacebar still advances the slide if option "Customize slide / Wait for a keypress or mouse click" has been selected and if the slide has reached the end of it's programmed time on screen. This makes operation of the show confusing to the viewer - sometimes the spacebar advances and other times it pauses.
  9. Thanks, Igor. I just posted an additional finding relating to this problem, in the same thread.
  10. I confirm the findings by Geoff and Stu. Customize slide calls the default mode "Wait for a key press...", but in fact the default mode is "Show next slide after indicated time". And, as already mentioned, even if "Wait for a key press ..." is checked in Proj Ops, the slide show advances per the timing indicated. There is another anomaly, too: When in "Show next slide ..." mode, if I check "Permit control of show ..." in Proj Ops, I can pause the show using the space bar. However, if "Wait for a key press" is selected, and the slide has reached the end of the time indicated, the slide advances to the next slide. If the slide has not yet reached the end of the time indicated, pressing the space bar pauses the show as one would expect.
  11. Most of the drivers still in use are dated either 21/11/2006 or 19/10/2006. A small number are dated 21/10/2003.
  12. Yes, that is what I found too. Igor, it seems to pose a difficult problem - however, since PTE seems to adjust for gammas which are set via the ATI colour panel then maybe everyone should attempt to use this for monitor calibration in the future. Maybe a note in the "Help" file could instruct users to use this utility instead of Adobe Gamma in the Control Panel in the case of ATI video cards.
  13. Igor, I think I may have found a clue as to my findings. If I change the gamma in the ATI "colour" panel (in "Display / Settings / Advanced"), then the test slideshow has no adverse effect on the display. However, if I change the gamma in "Adobe Gamma" on the Control Panel, it does make a difference. It's the latter that I have been reporting on.
  14. Yes, the shift occurs in all of versions 5.0, 5.1, and the special test show. However, in this case it's a shift in overall brightness, not only a single colour. The shift is exagerated to make the test more obvious, as can be clearly seen in the screen photos in my previous post. I intentionally chose a gamma correction that would show up very dramatically if it were present, and it definitely does change when the test show begins, or when I click on "alt-tab" or "Windows" or anywhere on my second monitor. It's not a correction that I normally use, so the "shift" is not a problem for me. I normally use the default setting, so normally this shift is not a problem.
  15. Igor, I still see the shift when I press the "Windows" key, and it reverts back when I click on the slide. My Gamma setting is a brightness setting rather than a colour shift. I set it up in "Control Panel / Adobe Gamma", and saved it there as an "icc" profile. However, it should behave the same as a colour adjustment.
  16. Fred, Yes, I should have mentioned that I also tested using Igor's example exe file. Below are screen-shots, with my digital camera set on manual, of the image he provided (first image), versus it's appearance in the show (second image). The images are purposely blurred to eliminate the Moire patterns. And I chose a gamma correction for the test that was noticeably different from the Adobe RGB setting I use normally.
  17. Igor, Your example displays in exactly the same way in either PTE v 5.0 or 5.1, beta 10. If I set a new Gamma profile, PTE cancels it in both versions of the program, in the same way as it always has, and then returns it after I exit from the show. I'm using an ATI Radeon 9600 "All in Wonder" video card. The effect can be demonstrated readily by clicking on "alt-tab" after the show has started. The gamma settings are restored until one clicks on the screen to start the show again, both in version 5.0 and 5.1.
  18. Dom, Your signature url works fine for me. Ken, don't be such a cheapskate, and go download the latest free Adobe PDF player! :-))
  19. Lionheart, Welcome to the Forum. You have to create a custom avi, using a codec other than the "Pictures-to-Exe" codec.
  20. K10, To provide access via your own web site, just upload the show to it (best to zip it first, as Ken recommends) the same way that you would upload a photo or web page, and give your clients the link. If you want to link to the file via one of your pages, add a line to the page, with the name of your show, and add a hyperlink so someone can click on it and be taken to the file for downloading. Here is an example: http://www.alrobinson.com/av/sequences1.htm
  21. Felix, It sounds like you have "Play new background music file(s)" checked for one of your slides, without any sound or music added, in "Customize Slide". Go through the slides near where the music stops, and make sure no slide is cutting off the background music in this manner.
  22. Felix, Tell us a little more about how you are adding your music, and what type of music file(s) you are using. What happens if you do check "synchronize"?
  23. mogendavid, There are three ways to accomplish this: 1. If your show is synchronized, then it is best to add a selection of silence of the appropriate length to the start of the background music. 2. If your show is not synched, then you can either follow solution #1, or simply add the music through "Customize slide" to the appropriate slide. 3. In both of these cases you can also add music to a particular slide using the "sound" line at the bottom right-hand side of the main PTE window. Be sure to check "Don't interrupt sound comment when next slide appears" under the Music tab of the Project Options menu. Hope this helps in your particular application.
  24. Another way to accomplish this is to place a copy of the Intro slide after each photo so that when the photo times out, or is advanced by manual click of the mouse or arrow key, the Intro slide will automatically appear again. In this way there is no need to use a black slide as a control point.
  25. One way is to add a screen-size transparent "button" to the dark slide and program it so that when the viewer clicks on it, the show is returned to the intro slide.
