I like Top to Bottom Pans (or vice versa) marginally better than I like upright images in a Landscape Project (is there any other kind?). P.S. I HATE!!!!! upright images in a Landscape project. Sometimes a necessary evil!! DG

Alternatively you could crop to 1080 high using the Aspect Ratio of the original portrait format image (to save space). There is no right or wrong way. DG

Photoflora, Maybe others can address your query specifically, but I would ask you to consider an alternative, easier and perhaps better method. I recently bought a BluRay Player, specifically because it has a USB input (as does my TV) which allows me to create MPEG4 files to play via the BR Player and a HDMI connection to the TV. The quality is the equal of the BR Disc approach and possibly better. The downside of this approach is when it comes to sharing the show - the person at the other end needs to have a suitable BR Player / TV or use the computer to view. The file size is such that a normal DVD usually accomodates it and transfer to a USB Memory Key at the other end is simple. Use a 1920x1080 or 1280x720 project size and you will be surprised at the ease with which you can get equivalent or even superior results. Best wishes, DG

No Problem. Try using a higher resolution for the project at the same AR. i.e. 1440x1080. What is your Monitor Resolution???? Try a 1 or 2 slide test and insert a suitable image into the show. The image (2400x1200??) can be inserted and will fit to the height of the slide (1080). Create an EXE and judge the quality by that. When you use Video Builder instead of burning the DVD opt for the MPEG2 option and play this in Windows Media Player etc. DO NOT play back full screen - it will play back at NTSC resolution - 720x480 or something close to that. That is what you are putting on your DVD when you burn to DVD - it is then upscaled by the DVD player to fill your TV screen. If you have a TV with a USB input it is far better to make an MPEG4 file at 1920x1080 and play this back via USB. Got to go now - back in the morning. DG

No, in Project Options > Main what is the ASPECT RATIO (AR) of your show? Project Options > Screen what is the RESOLUTION (Size of Slide) of your show? DG
-
What is the AR of your Project? What is the resolution of your Project? What is the size of the images used in your project? Are you playing the DVD on your computer or in your DVD Player? Are you in a PAL or NTSC Zone? DG

I got the iPad 4 on Friday as promised by the Apple Shop. Did a few experiments resulting in a 1920x1080 MP4 (for iPad3/4) being transferred via USB to Lightning connector and iTunes. I have never seen quality like this before!! If this is what an Apple Retina display looks like I want a 27" Apple Monitor for my PC!!! Amazing! I'm knocked out - thanks Igor!! I am not sure if the 1920x1080 is filling the width - need to modify test show with a more suitable BG for testing. DG

Some would find this very useful. I have always had concerns about re-saving JPEGs (even once!). DG
-
In that case I have voted no. I would want complete control over the process of resizing using my own choice of software. DG
-
Dom, Would this be a "virtual" resize or an "actual" resize? If you are suggesting an "actual" resize then are you suggesting that it be saved in the same way as a converted video? DG

KFSD makes ANYTHING to do with Video so much simpler. I can see from the first JPEG what is required and KFSD would acheive it so easily. Knowing the basics of Keyframing is really kid's stuff though. I'm sure that there is a tute there somewhere? DG -

Around 1955, give or take, I went to a well respected local guitar teacher to ask if I could be his pupil. He: "Can you read music". I: "No" He: "Come back when you can" Best advice I ever had!! DG -

Lin, KFSD makes it all so simple! DG -
Hi Bill, There is a video on youtube which suggests that it can be done and how to do it. I have sort of decided on getting the lightning to usb adaptor first and then the lightning to hdmi. I will report my findings and try to post the tutorial link. Best wishes, DG

Great, Can't tolerate MIA (Musical Instrument Abuse) . DG

Thanks Tom, I appreciate your comments. At this time I'm going to concentrate on 1920x1080 to get some uniformity across the different "gadgets" - TV; Computer; iPad. The output for iPad from PTE plays well in most players on my PC and when I manage to get one onto the iPad I'll report back. Then I'll see what, if anything, is necessary for full resolution playback on the iPad. DG

I've had an e-mail saying delivery is today or tomorrow. Other differences - Lightning connector - I will need one - don't know which are the most useful of the various versions. DG

Lin, Has the D41 survived? DG

Xaver and yourself should be able to talk for hours and swap stories etc. DG

Agreed! Now wait for others with different views??? Is there a danger that the competition will hang on to DVD support and take customers away? How long has XP been replaced by Vista and then W7? There are still people using XP. (I have all three - and soon iPad). DG
-
Igor, I think that you will have to continuously monitor this? As well as using EXE files on computer, I ONLY use HD Video / USB / TV for my own use but have been forced to prepare (Standard) DVDs for distribution of material. DG

Joy, It refers to V7.0.7? Beta 12 will not have overwritten that. DG
