Not sure what you mean, Ray? If I change the resolution of the show from 1024x768 to 1920x1080 this is reflected in the AR setting on the MAIN Tab. The reverse is also true. Give us a step by step of what you are seeing and what you expected to see? DG

Davy, I don't think that there is any need for this! George Melly: "If you can't say anything that's nice, then please don't talk at all - that's my advice" DG

Virtual Size of Slide: You can make a slide show the resolution of which is smaller or bigger than your monitor resolution. If you have a 1920x1080 monitor you could make a 1024x768 show for instance. Fixed Size of Slide: If you tick this box the show will present itself at the dimensions set in Virtual Size of Slide and will not "upsize" to fit a larger monitor. It will, however, "downsize" to fit a smaller monitor than the size set in Virtual Size of Slide. DG

Clicking on SIZE in the SIZE/POSITION box sets the object to 100%. However you have to do this individually - you cannot do it globally. P.S. You could possibly write an action in Photoshop which would take all of the smaller images and increase the canvas to 1920x1080 while keeping the image size at its original pixels. The result would be (for instance) your 1400x700 image with a black border making it 1920x1080. You could then drop all of these into your 1920x1080 project without the need for adjustment. The background that you choose could be either Black, White, Mid-Gray, Other Colour or Transparent. If Transparent the SAVE part of the Action would need to be "Save For The Web". Don't forget to include a Convert Colour Profile to sRGB (if appropriate). Is it less work than clicking on SIZE X number of times? Don't know, but you would only have to make the action once. Try this one: Resize Canvas.zip DG

are the connection methods different. ie hdmi dvi vga? dg

You're right - back to the topic. I just wondered why PTE users needed anything other than the Windows Zip and I think that we agree that they don't. DG
-
Tom, You have to admit that it must be annoying and that if Igor could do something about it ....... I wonder if it could be something other than IPS? My Sony Laptop and my Iiyama 24" don't display it and neither are IPS so why? DG

Ken, Right click - New Compressed ZIP Folder. Drag file(s) into folder. That's inefficient? Lin, Thanks for the detailed explanation. I don't necessarily subscribe to it and haven't had the experiences that you have had over the last twenty years or so when I was working at the Uni. Since late nineties this was all made MUCH easier when Windows began to arrive with the ZIP Utility. I must have been lucky because I have never had a Windows installation without their Zip Utility. Just downloaded your WOLFSTORM ZIP - windows Zip handled it in the same easy way that it handles Zipping up. I'm just going to enjoy watching it now. Personally, I don't need anything else. Best wishes, DG

im missing something here. ive got xp vista and w7. its in all and always has been. but why/how is pk zip better? w zip never has failed me. no probs. dg

Maybe all who post PTE shows for download should put a small warning about AVG in the Readme file attached to the download. It would satisfy Ken's worries above (post #6). DG

7-ZIP?? PK ZIP?? What's the matter with the Windows Zip? Not arguing with the proposal just the use of third party ZIP software? DG

i have seen the reference to worlds before and searched for it without result. i wondered if it was a folder that only exists on igors computer or was copied into pte from somewhere else? dg

Tom, I constructed a "benchmark" test project to use on the three machines that I have available. The spec of the new one is given above. My project was 50 slides using two 1920x1080 images (PS Quality 8) in a 1920x1080 project, ABABABA etc. 5 Minutes duration. 6 Seconds Slide Duration and 1.5 seconds Fade Transition. No Audio and No Video. I followed Igor's lead and made an HD Video at 1920x1080 using High Quality preset.(283Mb) The XP Desktop (Pentium 2 core - 3.0 GHz; 2Gb RAM; nVidia7600GS with 512Mb RAM) did it in 38.58 minutes while the NEW machine did it in 5.1 Minutes. DG

It is possible but has nothing to do with PTE settings - you need to dig into the Sony TV Media Player Menu to find the correct settings. Name them in alpha numerical order so the the Menu sees them in the order that you want them to play. DG

Tom, When I got my XP Desktop machine X years ago it had an nVidia card with 512Mb of dedicated RAM and people said much the same thing about that. Bottom line is that I still have it and it's quite a fast machine (for PTE). It has never been really pushed to its limits until recently. So when I went for my replacement for it the new machine is the equivalent spec X years onwards. It's aimed at gamers I suppose but for NX2 and PTE it's superb. I'm in the process of comparing a benchmark on the XP, Vista Laptop and the new machine. I should complete it today. DG

Ron, When I tried it after your first post I used a BUTTON and got the same result as you - I haven't been able to repeat the problem. DG

I've had my new PC for a couple of weeks and so far I'm very pleased. It's silent in operation. I have partitioned the 2Gb HDD into two 1Tb drives (C for OS and Programmes; Z for data) and will add another 1Tb Internal HDD soon for backup. All scratch discs and temp data for NX2 and PS will be on the new drive. Here's the spec from the manufacturers: Processor - Intel® Core™ i7-2600 processor (3.4 GHz, 8 MB L3 cache) Operating System - Windows® 7 Home Premium 64-bit RAM - 8GB Graphics card - Nvidia GeForce GT 545 (3 Gb Dedicated RAM) Hard drive - 2TB Optical disk drive - Blu-ray player & SuperMulti DVD burner Memory card reader - 15-in-1 memory card reader USB - 10 (2 - SS USB) WiFi - WiFi 802.11b/g/n Audio interface - 1 audio line in, 1 audio line out, 1 analog audio in, 2 analog audio out TV output - 1 DVI (VGA via adapter); 1 HDMI Sound - Onboard / High Definition Audio 5.1 DG

Now that's weird! I tried it when I read Ron's post and it happened just as he described. (Vista). I've tried it again on 3 different OS and it will not happen. ?? DG

Ken, Please forgive me - I don't understand "WIPE THEM OUT"? When using AVG I had some alerts. I was aware of the "problem" of them being "false positives" so I clicked on the "X" top right of the alert and the alert box went away. I still could not open the EXE but it was not "Wiped Out" - it remained where it was until the "problem" was fixed. It did not go into quarantine or disappear forever. If it were a GENUINE threat it would only be harmful if played and AVG would not allow that. Am I missing something? DG Contented MSE user .

I confirm this behaviour. DG

Good news Igor. It would help to know when? DG

Well done Stu, The only question which remains is: Why would it default to O&A on the Vista Machine and to Customize Slide on the W7? (Rhetorical). Probably because the View Options on the Vista have evolved over many years and the W7 is a first time installation and Customize Slide is the default default. Thanks again, DG
-
Thanks PM - it sounds like a W7 issue? DG
-
I have V7.0.3 running on my Vista Laptop. Double click on a slide - it brings up the O&A dialogue. I have V7.0.2 running on an XP machine. Double click on a slide - it brings up the O&A dialogue. I have V7.0.2 running on a my W7 machine. Double click on a slide - it brings up the Customize Slide dialogue. Upgraded the W7 machine to V7.0.3. Double click on a slide - it STILL brings up the Customize Slide dialogue. DG

Thanks to all who responded. I think that we managed to raise the profile of PTE just a little. DG
