  1. There was a similar problem in one of the Beta versions of v5.5 which was rectified by the time the final release was made so if you are not using the latest version I suggest you download it and give it a try. Also try using Don't Use Auto-Scrolling found under View>Timeline Options and see if this helps. With Auto-Scroll Style 2 selected then if you select an image close to the right end of the timeline PTE will automatically reposition the image to the centre of the timeline display but in my experience the relationship to other images is kept. With Auto-Scroll Style 1 selected the image will reposition to the far left of the timeline display. With Don't Use Auto-Scrolling selected the image will not reposition but remain where it is.
  2. Welcome to the world of PTE AVs and the user forum David, you will find lots of friendly help and advice here. This forum is a great source for advice, guidance and ideas. The sense of community here helps make working with PTE more creative and pleasurable. Hope to see some of your work soon, good luck.
  3. Brian Thanks for the previous post on Blu-ray it has answered several questions for me, very timely. I assume the end result will be sometime in the future, (maybe a very long time), when PTE can burn a Blu-ray DVD disk and then we run this DVD on a HD TV system the show will compare favourably with the EXE file that we can currently produce and view on a PC monitor.
  4. Great work Igor, I particularly like the mask transition with which I can see a lot of creative possibilities, thanks.
  5. Ken There are a number of questions that appear again and again like this one on the forum. I wonder if we need a new forum heading like FAQ where these queries could be copied, it would be a read only section and when you copied a thread there the heading would need to be reworded to describe the question accurately. To qualify maybe if the question has been asked more than 4-5 times in a year it could be copied/moved there and this would become the first point to search for an answer before they post a problem. Just an idea.
  6. Tony have a look at these discussions on the forum --- http://www.picturestoexe.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=7677 http://www.picturestoexe.com/forums/index....c=8025&st=0 http://www.picturestoexe.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=8643 Also the link to the H2 recorder stats. http://www.samsontech.com/products/product...6&brandID=4 For what its worth I think the H2 is the way for you to go.
  7. Something I forgot to add you may already have found these 2 links -- The H2 --- http://www.samsontech.com/products/product...6&brandID=4 The H4 --- http://www.samsontech.com/products/product...1&brandID=4 Also I found I needed to buy a larger SD card, (2G), as I was constantly filling the one provided, (512M).
  8. John you may be interested in the discussions on this subject that have occurred previously on the forum here --- http://www.picturestoexe.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=7677 http://www.picturestoexe.com/forums/index....c=8025&st=0 Like you I had to make a choice between the H2 and H4 and was luck enough to have each for a few hours to test. I found the results were equal in sound quality. Handling and feel of the units was very similar. The screen display size and resolution was the same on both. The H4 had more functions but few were ones I would use. Having the 4 internal mics on the H2 has proved to be a bonus and they are nicely tucked away out of harm, the H4 had only 2 mics which protruded from the body which worried me as I am a little rough on my equipment and thought they may be more likely damaged. Also on this when recording into the H2 built-in microphones I speak into the front of the H2 and can see the level meters as I do so, the H4 I spoke into the top of the unit and it was difficult to see the levels. Finally the cost was the deciding factor, the extra functions on the H4 didn't appear sufficient for the A$250 extra cost. I have posted some sample recordings from my Zoom H2 on MediaFire here: http://www.mediafire.com/?3zbeclxuwg4 All recordings were made in WAV format at 44.1KHz, 16 bit stereo. The file Wind Chimes was recorded at approximately 3 Meters distance with Medium Gain, Volume set to 110 and the recording was normalized in the H2. All other settings were off. It is of the wind chimes on my back veranda and there is some background wind noise as I did not use the wind screen over the inbuilt microphone, something I would recommend doing in windy conditions. Also you may hear a pigeon fly past toward the end of the recording, (at about the 43Sec point). Chickens was also recorded at approximately 3 Meters distance with High Gain, Volume set to 120 and the recording was normalized in the H2. All other settings were off. The chooks, (as we call them here), were happily scratching around in their pen. The wind noise is apparent here also, particularly toward the end. Birds was recorded at approximately 8 Meters distance with High Gain, Volume set to maximum and the recording was normalized in the H2. All other settings were off. I have also used a background sample here to filter out some noise in my sound editor and raised the volume slightly. The parrots were sitting in a large Eucalyptus tree next to my orchard waiting for me to leave so they could eat my fruit. You may also hear the wind chimes softly in the background in the latter part of the recording. They were some 35 Meters away. There are 2 other files included. These were recorded along the creek that runs through my property. The first, Bush Birds ORG, is a small sample of the original RAW file from the H2 with no manipulation. The second file, Bush Birds Final, is the same file in full that has been "cleaned up" using a background sample as a filter, then normalized and amplified in my sound editor. I think this is well worth doing when the result is compared with the original. There is still some work to be done on this file, (remove the jet that flew over in the middle of the recording, wind noise and the noise I created moving around). John I hope this is of some help to you. Both units are excellent recorders and I'm sure you will be happy with either.
  9. Check you have the correct functions selected under Project Options > Advanced . In the latest version full control of the show by the viewer is not set by default I believe.
  10. Both of your presentations were interesting and enjoyable Tom, thanks for allowing us to see them. This is a city I haven't visited as yet but intend to, your photographs have made me think it should be soon. I found that seeing the originals and then the digitally enhanced versions was particularly interesting, you obtained some very creative and in some, not all, cases I think improved images. My normal method of viewing shows posted here is to download and view them. forming my opinions on them. before reading any comments posted by others. This was the case here and I do agree with Yachtsman1 on the music. I felt I was in Vienna rather than Venice with the music of Strauss. If Vivaldi is not to your taste perhaps some other Italian composer would be a better choice.
  11. Mark I get a 404 Not Found error when I click on your link-- http://www.markallenphotography.co.uk/mark...eries/mono2.exe
  12. Gerard, Just download PTE v5.5 and install it to a new folder and use your existing keys by copying them across to the new v5.5 folder. Both version will live comfortably side by side on your PC. When you are happy everything is working OK with v5.5 just delete PTE v5.1, (using Add/Remove programs in control panel is the best way to do this).
  13. Thank you for posting the full size presentations Gerard, I think they are an improvement on the smaller ones because they show your excellent photography off much better. Your macro photography and the PTE presentations you have made combining it with well chosen music is quite an inspiration to me, I hope you don't mind if I show your work to the nature photographers in my camera club.
  14. I agree with you Ray, it would be good to have "hands on" with the change to see just how it would effect my work-flow and the end result. I suspect it would have little effect on my presentations also.
  15. I viewed all 3 of your shows and must say they are very impressive presentations Gerard. Nature photograph is one of the most demanding forms of photography and I think macro photography is the most demanding within the nature area, you have demonstrated great skill in that area with these AVs. The music you used was well chosen and suited the subject. Thank-you for sharing them with us. Just one very small, (sorry about the pun), point Gerard, I would love to see FLC2007-web and FLC2008-web in full screen, as was "Come Fly with Me".
  16. Nice presentation Lin you have the moving water effect working very well, enjoyed it a lot. I have friends who have just returned from Niagara Falls and other parts of your country, I will show it to them. Ken, not for me either although I would recommend a hot-air balloon ride, no vertigo there.
  17. Brian, Igor and everyone. I am not against the addition of your proposed 2xButton Program Set-Up Brian, in fact I think it is an eloquent solution if one was need in the program. However I think there is an even simpler solution to the "New used PTE confusion" development problem highlighted in this thread by you and others. This would not involve more programing, consuming more of Igor and his teams time or adding more functions to the PTE interface. Simply make PTE v4.49 available renamed as PTE Basic which has no further development as presently is the case. This would become the beginners version and when or if ever the user wishers to use the more advanced features they simply move to the PTE Advanced version, currently v5.5, which continues to develop as required to keep pace in the market and meet the needs of the more advanced users. Both versions live comfortably side by side on the PC, it just requires a slight re-thinking of what the 2 version are called and how they are presented. This is done with a simple renaming and the way each is presented on the WnSoft Web-site. So we would see-- PTE Basic -- currently v4.49 with no further development, (as now). PTE Advanced -- currently v5.5 with continued development (as now). PTE Full -- currently v5.5 + DVD burner with continued development (as now).
  18. Great fun Herhey, I enjoyed your presentation, thanks. There is a lot of potential in PTE for producing this type of show I think.
  19. Over the last two days I have tested this program on many different files as well as PTEs and can verify everything that is claimed for it. BMP, JPG, GIF, PNG, WAV, MP3, AVI and many others were recovered with no detectable difference from the original. In fact I could not find anything that would stop it. This software is like fire, it can be of great benefit to us or can be very destructive depending on how it is used. It is not fire or this software tool that is the problem, it is the few people that will use it for harm.
  20. Paul, I must add my voice to all the praise above, a very relaxing and enjoyable presentation. The images were composed with great skill and the warm tone was a perfect match to the music which in turn complemented the images, that's after all what AV is all about. The size of the images was of no concern to me, in fact during the show I thought they were like looking at a set of miniatures in a gallery. I believe the size was just right for the subject and mood. Also I think Barry has a valid point about the mat you used. Well done Paul and thanks for sharing.
  21. XR400R I too would like to see this function in PTE, (see my suggestion half way down the page in this post)--- http://www.picturestoexe.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=8550 At the moment I do not know of any way to achieve your requirements just in PTE. The best work-flow for you, I believe, would be to make an accurate written list of the desired timing points while previewing the images in PTE then mixing all the audio tracks to this timing in your audio editor and bringing the final mixed track into PTE. Then synchronising the start of both in PTE. This is cumbersome and very time consuming, (I have worked this way on several shows), but I thing the end result will be what you require.
  22. Hello Ferrolux I have used your method of having PTE and my audio editor open simultaneously to try and get accurate timing of the audio mix with the images in PTE previously. It works OK for timing at a second or more and for the occasional point, but when accurate timing is required, (my reactions may not be quick enough), I found it is no substitute for having that function within PTE. Also when a large number of accurate timing points are required in a show or over a number of shows it became very cumbersome. Also I have tried to run my audio editor on a second PC and run PTE with it to get accurate timing in the audio track with much the same results. Unfortunately neither is a real substitute for having the ability to accurately adjust the audio timing to the images in PTE. As far as I know there is no way of synchronising the two applications together with a single keystroke.
  23. André and Peter please add me to the list of users who would like to see this functionality in PTE.
  24. Peter I believe Barry is correct on this one. I also have been using Multi-Media-Builder for similar jobs and have found it to be quick and reliable. Have a look here:-- http://mmb.mediachance.com/
