Stu, At the time I made the quote the system indicated to me that you had already signed out. Anyway, the situation seems to be clear now. Best regards, Xaver

Dan, I am happy to see that you have found a way to the truth. Regards, Xaver

This statement is false! If a version of VideoBuilder has been registered once with some key, this particular version will survive for lifetime. Of course, it will be only of restricted usefulness, as it will not support projects generated with later versions of PTE. Look at Peter's FAQ ( http://www.picturestoexe.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=10579&view=findpost&p=68564 ), or look at posts 10, 11, 13 above. Regards, Xaver

Bill, This is a collection including many nice photos. The sequence of images itself appears random. The transition points do not respect the rhythmical structure of the music, and seem to be chosen randomly, as well. Best regards, Xaver

Correct (in my opinion)! New versions released within the two year period should work "forever", as well. Regards, Xaver

There are so many things or facts that are not easy to understand. Look at the prices for PTE Deluxe licenses: 09 licenses 675.00 USD 10 licenses 399.90 USD 19 licenses 759.81 USD 20 licenses 499.80 USD 49 licenses 1224.51 USD 50 licenses 749.60 USD Funny, isn't it? Regards, Xaver

I am sorry to say that this description is not quite correct, the precise rule is given here. Regards, Xaver

On the WnSoft website you can read: "Free upgrades for VideoBuilder (included to Deluxe edition) during two years’ period since the date of your purchasing. After the end of this period you can continue to use any previously released version of VideoBuilder for unlimited time or pay $34 for the upgrade of the newer version". This should be clear. If you keep your old deluxe-versions on you machine, they will always offer the deluxe-features. Only new versions (in your case, released after January 2012) will only offer the standard features, if you do not buy an upgrade. Regards, Xaver

Igor, In the EU (27 member states) we have tax rates between 15% and 25%. Thus, a price including VAT can only be made on a per-country base, perhaps not very reasonable. I would like to recommend that you offer your product without VAT, while indicating this fact on your website more clearly than it is done at present time (The remark "Prices do not include VAT when applicable" can easily be missed (in my opinion)). Regards, Xaver

Did you try to add the border as a logo (Project Options > Advanced)? Regards, Xaver

Sorry Eric, you must have misinterpreted my remark. Of course, you have the very right to use any version that you like Regards, Xaver

Okay, it seems that Bill, a newcomer has made some mistakes with his sound files. But let us be honest: We should not blame him! The truth is that the present audio concept of PTE has to be regarded as chaotic: Overall background music for the show in synchronized and non-synchronized form in the project options, background music for particular slides in the customize slide window; furthermore, sound comments in the main window - three different locations in the program where to make sound settings. Let us hope that v7 will stop this chaos and that it will give us a major improvement. Regards, Xaver
-
See my post here. Regards, Xaver

Ken, In my opinion, the concept of sound comments is outdated, in particular when looking at the announcements on version 7, see here. Once the audio objects will be shown (and hopefully can be manipulated (shifts, envelopes)) in the timeline, the feature of sound comments may only have its merits with respect to compatibility. So let us wait for the advent of v7. Regards, Xaver

As you may see here (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Audio_Video_Interleave, AVI is just a container format for videos, you must specify a video codec in the dialog for AVI-creation with PTE. The PictureToExe Video Codec only gives a virtual AVI to be used only for transcoding with other tools, but there are other choices. So what kinds of AVIs you may create actually depends on the codecs installed on your computer. If you install x264vfw (http://sourceforge.net/projects/x264vfw/) on your machine, you can even create H.264 videos inside the AVI container. Regards, Xaver

Some guys try hard to come on deck, but they never manage to arrive, not even after 1000 posts or more. Never mind! Regards, Xaver

Ability to copy/paste objects and animation settings
xahu34 replied to Podarok's topic in Suggestions for Next Versions
Podarok, Can you describe an example where the feature you are asking for is of any practical use. Regards, Xaver -
What Dave describes rather is the feature "Ignore objects not selected". A good description is given here. Regards, Xaver

In Project > Project Options > Advanced you can Permit show control using keyboard, furthermore, choose Synchronize music and slides in Project > Project Options > Main. Regards, Xaver

Igor, Here are some remarks/questions on your proposal: Some users may not like to have an automatically growing repository in the background, perhaps not under their control!? There will be 2 repositories in the system, the automatically generated one in the background, and the one organized by the user himself (his own PTE-files). The user (hopefully) will make back-ups of his own data, but what will happen to the background system? Some users will rely on the availability of this system, and what will happen if the hard disk crashes? Users who develop their projects on 2 machines (PC at home, notebook on traveling) will have to do a lot of export and import business in order to keep the background systems consistent. What will happen to projects which will be renamed, moved, edited or deleted outside of PTE? The recovery system I have asked for, is far from being a kind of configuration management system as you propose, but it would help a user not to loose hours of work in case of a program/system crash and in case that he forgot to make appropriate savings (while avoiding the disadvantages of the present auto-save). Question: Will your method provide this feature at all? I myself got the impression that the planned system may be too complicated for an average user. Best regards, Xaver
-
I agree with Peter, a user's own version control is the best way, while automatically generated version may lead to confusion. On the other hand, I would like to refer to an old suggestion for a recovery function, see the posts here. Regards, Xaver

Tillman, Here are some remarks regarding your questions: In my opinion, the show should end at the point that you call the natural break. The question for timing errors is difficult. In some places the transitions are set to the first beat in the bar (typically a good place). In other cases you follow melodic accents. Some may like this mixture, others may not. There are some places where I do not understand the timing, but as manual control seems to be deactivated, it is difficult to work with your presentation. It may be that I am rather conservative, but I do not like the permanent change of formats, in particular cross-fades between images having different formats! On principle, we have the following problem: We hear the musicians play, an action that typically is combined with movement, but we see still images. A video would be the better medium. Regards, Xaver

Dave, There is nothing to recognize. In IrfanView's batch conversion window you will see an input field in which you can place (drag) images from one or more folders (one image after the other), and in this way you fix the order you like to have. The batch renaming process will follow this order. Regards, Xaver
-
Many of us use IrfanView as image viewer. With IrfanView's thumbnail view and the integrated batch dialog, an ordered list of images from different folders can be defined, and batch renaming can we worked out. The output can be copied to a new folder. Regards, Xaver
