  1. Sorry, this is not correct. The small images will be upscaled (in this example typically to 1600x1200) Regards, Xaver
  2. What is the size of your monitor? Did you choose "Fixed size of slide" in the screen options? Please give us some more information! Regards, Xaver
  3. Hi Michel, How to use the size/position tool (an example): 1. Choose a fixed size of your screen 2. For a particular slide, you open the O&A window (Objects & Animation) 3. Highlight an object to be placed in original mode. 4. Choose the common tab and use the button "size/position ..." 5. Click on the word "size", or enter "100" in the size field of the original mode tab. The chosen object will be placed in its original size (relative to the specified screen). Regards, Xaver
  4. Hi Michel, until v5.5, PTE provided the (so-called) "Original Mode". Since v5.6, this mode does not exist any longer. You may also try the "Size/Position Tool", a kind of replacement for the original mode. Regards, Xaver
  5. Try the option "Fixed size of slide (in pixels)" in the Screen tab. Regards, Xaver

I am sad to read this news! Jean-Pierre belonged to the very small group of people who have a real understanding of the mathematics behind PTE. Regards, Xaver
  7. Did you think of using a USB microphone like the "Samson C03U" and making your voice recordings with your PC (and Audacity)? Regards, Xaver
  8. This is what I have meant saying: " ... we have the file name in the Properties tab (in principle) ..." Regards, Xaver
  9. In my opinion, this is not a good analogy: The mask container and mask itself are really different objects (which can be animated independently). The mask itself can be an image having an own object name and an independent image file name. Presently, for images, we have the file name in the Properties tab (in principle), and the object name in the Common tab. Do we need more? I have some doubts that it would be helpful if the file names would show up in the object list. Let's keep it simple! Maybe, the file name and the object name should be placed in the same tab!? Regards, Xaver
  10. Ed, Here is an example: You have 2 very similar versions of a red house, say Im_4712.jpg and Im_4713.jpg. You load Im_4712.jpg into PTE. In the object list of the O&A window you change the initial object name Im_4712 into Red_House. Later, you decide to replace Im_4712.jpg by Im_4713.jpg. Should PTE now replace the name Red_House by Im_4713 Best regards, Xaver
  11. APLman, I must admit that I have avoided to read your long post in detail. There has already been a bug report on the behavior of keypoints with respect to scaling that has never been addressed by WnSoft, see here! Regards, Xaver
  12. See here! Regards, Xaver
  13. Morturn, I really like it. As it has been said above: While the music fades out, let the last image fade to black or even to the first one showing information on the author and the music. This is a (rare?) example where the transitions match the measure of the music Best regards, Xaver
  14. This post may not be considered as "condescending", but I would regard it as an attempt to show "superiority": Here comes the boss and shows us the ropes (should mean: Er zeigt uns wo es langgeht (sorry for writing German)). This is a correct analysis. It is nice to read that the classification "inappropriate" is presented as an opinion. If I had considered my remark as inappropriate, I would not have posted it The best contribution in this thread (in my opinion, of course) Regards, Xaver
  15. cici does not understand my doubts. Barry does not understand cici's reply. The confusion seems to be perfect. Regards, Xaver
  16. Colin, Let me invite you to read the following topic: http://www.picturestoexe.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=9424 Regards, Xaver
  17. See my remark in the section "Ideas and suggestions for next versions". Regards, Xaver
  18. I don't think that this feature would be that helpful. I hope that PTE will overcome the present problem with background sound and commentary, where you insert audio clips at two distinct places. As it has been requested in this forum many times: PTE should provide independent (parallel) audio tracks where you can place clips at arbitrary positions in combination with elementary editing (e.g, volume curves). Regards, Xaver
  19. cici, I would like to say that reading this thread gives rise to some doubts! You seem to consider yourself as an AV artist of first degree. So, I wonder why you present your art in this rather technical forum. What about sending your work to Hayange, Epinal, Trophée de Paris, Villingen-Schwenningen (Medienfestival), ... ? This may give you a hint where your position is among the very best! Regards, Xaver
  20. Colin, I agree, Goldwave is a nice tool. On the other hand, it has the disadvantage that it rather supports editing of single audio clips that building up a soundtrack from several inputs (which can be done in Audacity in a non-destructive way). In v6.5 PTE will provide audio tracks and (hopefully) the features needed for mixing a soundtrack. Then I may take Goldwave into consideration. Regards, Xaver
  21. See here! Can this be considered as a clear statement? Regards, Xaver
  22. I think that it would be ok if you were the only person who uses these two machines (e.g. your desktop and your notebook). Sharing the key with another person will be illegal. What about buying a deluxe license, and an additional standard one? Regards, Xaver
  23. Den, I guess that PTE realizes the shadows via layers!? If the shadow lies on a layer behind the text, and if the text becomes transparent, then you will see the shadow behind it, making the text color darker and a bit grey. If you insert the text (including the shadow) as an externally generated png-file, the fading process will look different. Regards, Xaver
  24. ... a kind of Freudian slip???? Kind regards, Xaver
  25. Hi Lin, First of all, I said it is a minor (not a major) disadvantage! Some people in this forum (including you) often show effects and point out that they can be realized within PTE, without external support. As long as you deal with still images (no animation) you just need a simple slideshow tool providing alpha-blending of single images, provided that you really want to do the hard jobs in Photoshop, Gimp or another image editor. So, external support should not be an argument! I did some tests regarding blending modes. As long as you deal with normal (daylight) images, blending modes like "screen" do not show a significant advantage, maybe there isn't any. The situation changes if you combine low-key images with particular highlights. If you have an additive blending mode, you can mix several images at almost 100% lightness. This leads to better results than those given by alpha-blending, which naturally has the tendency to a leveling of lightness. In PTE, in order to have a nice blending of low-key images, you can improve the situation if you combine the images with blurred greyscale copies as masks, perhaps a possible, not a comfortable way. Another aspect here is, that (for example) m.objects (playing the show while using preprocessed data and not the original images) provides some kind of additive blending which isn't that bad even in case of animations. All in all, not a very important observation, just a minor (but an existing) one! Best regards, Xaver
