  1. Robert, just for your information I ve recently made an AV show whose the total size of elements (including audios, videos, pictures ) was 2,7Go Using PTE v8.0.0 I have created an mp4 (h264) video of 1,6Go without any problem : 1920x1080 in HQ 16Mbit/s 25fps (european std). Daniel
  2. Just for information. I agree with Jeff, PTE (even v7.5.10) is able to manage AVCHD files with MTS extension. There were a lot of improvement which has been done by PTE team on this subject. The MTS file can be played within the PTE mini-viewer and converted in AVI (mpeg4 ASP by PTE videoconverter). Even if there is a slight loose of quality by converting H264 AVCHD in Mpeg4 ASP, the result is quite good and ease the work of video editing after without requiring too much power processing. By comparison Premiere Pro is doing something similar, up to CS5 (I have no experience with CS6). In fact Premiere Pro converts all the AVCHD files into MPEG video files for the video editing process (In that way, we can say Premiere Pro CS5 is not ACHD compatible either). And Premiere Pro requires much more times for rendering. It is easier and far less time consuming to do the same job with PTE for the same or even better quality result. Daniel PS : I agree with Lin there are small differences between M2TS and MTS files but for those who use cameras or camcorders, the original file embedded in AVCHD containers : /BDMV/STREAM are in MTS. They are converted in M2TS by players or intermediate softwares like Sony Picture Motion Browser in order to link all separated MTS video files together for playing on TV set.
  3. Congratulations Igor to you and all your team members. Santa Claus has gone just before Christmas this year! That is a very important challenge for PTE future, I wish you all the best and all the success you deserve. Have nice Christmas holidays, some rest is well deserved after this period of huge work. Best regards Daniel
  4. Dave I just tried Film strip, right now, it is a very interesting one and works perfectly well. Thanks for sharing Daniel
  5. I can guess it is an important information for Igor ! That is a kind of award to PTE that Igor could use for his next promotionnal campaign! 53/1 Whaooo that is a pity it seems that does not reflect the market sales! Daniel
  6. Th answer to this question given to me by Xaver was. "BTW, you can delete the contents of this cache. But if you re-open the corresponding projects, the cache will be filled again." Daniel
  7. Nobeefstu Concerning the problem n°2 I answer your post a bit too quickly, I thought I made an error in settings preferences parameters but after an in depht checking it appears that my settings were OK So I come back to this problem. I maintain that it should be better that clicking on the "Optimize" button, the software should load the video inside video converter and then open the video converter window on top of PTE main window and PAUSE and not START automatically as it is the case today. I hope that Igor can easily solve this problem in order to improve his software behaviour. It should start automaticaly only in the case where it is asked to "always convert". To Igor, Concerning AVCHD videos files, it seems there is a problem inside the video converter explorer (open a file...). The AVCHD video file are recognised if they are inside a mts container but they are not if they are inside a m2ts container (using the same video codec)???? But in both cases (mts or m2ts) I can open them inside video converter using a right clic on the file name inside the PTE main window file list. Best regards Daniel
  8. Thanks for your reply. My post was just to point out a problem inside video converter explorer with AVCHD files. Concerning AVCHD videos editings, I must say that Igor has made a lot of improvements, thanks to him! (perhaps the reason is, if I remember well he said he bought a Sony AVCHD camera too.. ). No way to enter the public or professional video editing market without taking into account the AVCHD. All Sony, Panasonic cameras use AVCHD) Now, AVCHD (h264/1080i) videos are recognised inside the file list explorer of PTE, it is even possible to play them within the mini viewer (yes, they are still jagged..). The video converter can convert them in a mpeg4 h263 and makes a quite good job. There is very few visible differences except the file size which is multiply by 1,5 for standard quality (50%) and by 2 for higher quality (90%) but if you accept this, you can use your videos footages for video editings/ slideshow within PTE. Depending on your need, it could be faster and much easier than using Adobe Premiere Pro. Igor said that he choose this solution because AVCHD codec requires too much CPU power for video editings. I think that up to now he was right, for the future, using GPU capabilities ...I dont know. I hope he will go on with improvements. It would be much better to avoid cascading videos compression (h264 =>h263 for video editings then h263=>h264 for exporting the video) that is time consuming and loss of quality. Wait and see..! But, by experience, Premiere does not make a better job! (Only since CS5, a restricted number of graphic cards are able to use the GPU for video rendering,) Best regards Daniel
  9. Thanks Yachtsman1, nobeefstu, You are right! I missed the step in my preferences menu...why? PTE has a lot of possibilities but it becomes difficult for me to remind all of them! (...as I said in my previous post, the other possibility to solve the problem is to make a right clic on the video file inside the file explorer) Anyway it will be better if this option was selected "by default" otherwise the PTE user does not know there are other possible parameters settings. Best regards Daniel
  10. Two problems concerning the use of videoconverter 1) Problem to display Sony AVCHD videos clips (h264/interlaced/1080i/25fps/mts) inside the Video Converter although the thumbs and file name of videos are displayed correctly inside the file list explorer of the PTE main window, they are not recognised and I cannot open them inside inside video converter explorer, ...so it is not possible to adjust settings before conversion. (see attachment) NB : there is no problem to display the video inside the PTE file list explorer neither to play it with the mini viewer (except that it freezes). The automatic conversion using the "by default" parameters works correctly. 2) If I drag and drop a video on the timeline and accept the conversion for optimization, then the video converter opens and starts the conversion automatically without notification for setting up the video converter parameters. So (except If I followed awrong way) if I need to set up such adjustments I must stop the conversion then delete the converted file part and open again the same video and pause, then it is possible to set up the parameters and start the conversion again. It will be much better if there was a notification window for setting up all video converter parameters before video converter starts the conversion. That would be more logical. My suggestion : clicking on the "Optimize" button should open the video converter main window on top of PTE main window (and not behind) and load the video file in the task list but the conversion should not start automaticaly but only on demand (added later : exactly the same way as with the right click in the file list). Daniel
  11. Thanks Igor, that solves the problem on my side too Daniel
  12. When adding a text object on a slide, if typing the text you use a "/" not only the "/" is written as expected but there is an undesired zoom effect on the screen : something goes wrong. Daniel
  13. Hi Xaver, In fact, on my PC there is a strange interaction between PTE and VLC. If I open your audio-test project within PTE v758 then, the first time I cannot hear the crack but after that I can hear it each time it plays the sound file kasse.wav. If I leave your PTE project open and play "Kasse.wav" with VLC then I can hear the crack at the end of the sound each time VLC plays it (that I reported in my previous post). But, now if I close your PTE project and play kasse.wav again and again with VLC then I cannot hear the crack anymore except if I reopen your PTE project. So my conclusion in my previous post was a bit too hurried and probably wrong. I should not say that PTE is not involved in this problem. Wait and see, Igor will sort it out. best regards Daniel
  14. Xaver, I confirm this problem, but I am not sure that is a PTE problem. On my side I can hear a crack at around 2,2s at the end of first sound "kasse". If the "kasse" sound is replaced by "kasse-audacity" the problem disapear. If the "kasse-audacity" are replaced by the "kasse" sounds the problem appears twice, at the end of each "kasse" sound. So we could think the problem is linked to the "kasse" audio file. When I play this file with VLC player I can hear this crack too. So for me the problem is inside the audio file by itself, nothing to do with PTE Best regards Daniel
  15. Thanks Igor That is ok for me. This new version solves the problem, welldone! Daniel
  16. PTE v757 with / laptop win7 my original video is 1920x1080 I choose the option resize 960x540 then the video output format is 960x544? Why 544 and not 540? ....that sounds like an old solved problem with 1088... Best regards Daniel
  17. Hello Charlie, I do not understand your point. For me, the size of the slide is fixed by the size of the support displaying the image, in the past that was 3/2 for diapositives, then it comes 4/3 wich was compatible with TV screen (768x576) and PC screens (1024x768), nowadays the most current standard for videoprojectors, LCD TV screens and even a lot of PC screens is 1920x1080px (2K) waiting for 4K in the future when h265 codec will be able to be twice more efficient than h264 today in order to be able to transmit the video signal in the same frequency bandwith without modifying the network infrastructure. So whatever the definition of your picture, it should fit the screen height (1080px ) and so the width of the picture on the screen will depend on the camera format 4/3 => 1440x1080px 3/2 => 1620x1080px 16/10 =>1728x1080px 16/9 =>1920x1080px Except for 16/9, in all other cases you will get black side bands of pixels but the advantage of selecting 16/9 screen size option is that you can dress theses two side bands yourself as you want and you can avoid to leave them balck. Concerning fit to slide or cover slide options, in both cases you can modify and crop your image as you want but for my point of view it is more convenient to keep with fit to slide which should avoid croping errors if the 16/9 screen size has been selected by default. Personnaly I consider this option must remain as an option linked to the image object within O&A and not fixed for all images within project options. Best regards Daniel
  18. Hello Dave and Igor The "Four arrow" button legend is "Fullscreen Preview from current position" and if I remember well it was suggested to not use any longer the PREVIEW button as the same function was achieved with the new mini viewer "Full screen" mode. I agree that is not a very important issue but it is a tricky one as the user who specify an option cannot see the result of his choice displayed in full screen mode. And so he spends his time to look for knowing where he made an error. For me it is clearly not a normal behaviour for a PTE user! Best regards Daniel
  19. Except If I missed something but it seems that there is a remaining problem with the display of navigation bar depending on selected options As an example : selecting Air style for navigation bar, in the project options, the mini viewer, playing in full screen mode, displays the video style and not the Air style selected! However the EXE is correct. Best regards Daniel
  20. By default : 16/9 and fit to slide Best regards Daniel
  21. [quote name='nobeefstu' timestamp='1361575540' post='105945' By my observation ... your codec selection appears to be a AC3 Filter decoder (pass-thru for playback) by its displayed values. You may need to verify if your selected codec is actually a AC3 audio encoder.
  22. Hi Igor 1) Creating AVI files, with customized encoding options, if I choose AC3 audio encoding, the data rate information associated with sampling frequency is missing so It is impossible to know how to use it. (I hope I havent miss a step!) 2) What does "0 channel" mean? Best regards Daniel PTE v754 / Laptop i7/Win7
  23. No, it sounds to be useless as by default the first key point is always selected Daniel
  24. Umberto, to be clear, an image has dimensions (definition in pixels x pixels) but cannot have a resolution (pixels/inch)without speaking about the dimensions of the support on which it is displayed. If your slide is 1920x1080 and the image on the slide is 400x400 it will keek this definition whatever the dimensions of the support on which it is displayed except if you are zooming in. So that is the reason why the dimensions are so important. Depending on the "support/display/screen" dimensions, the resolution will change (but the dimensions of the image remain the same) and you have to take care of that only for the distance between the "support/display/screen" and the "spectator" That is also the reason why some photographers would like to keep their work without any uneeded "manipulation" which is not under their control. Daniel
