  1. Hi Eric, Im Biased anyway, its my beloved Manchester and I know salford Quays very well, as I pass through on my trips to watch football. But more importantly and for what its worth im impressed with the quality/clarity of the photographs, as I said in my remarks about your fairground sequence. your new camera looks like its going to give you some fantastic photo's and im sure you must be thrilled to bits with it. I like the zoom on the guys window cleaning and the transitions, keep up the good work and honestly Eric I feel you must be really happy at the prospect of producing future sequences with photo's taken with your new camera because they are looking great. Ralph
  2. Hi Eric, shame the weather at salford quays was not good. My wife and I saw "Looking for Doris" at the Lowry, we had a great time, it was about an old time favourite of mine, the great Doris Day. Did not go into imperial war museum, but hope you got some shots off. When I visted the quays it was like Patrick Mcgoohan's the prisoner, no one around and just surreal, but I kind of liked it. regards ralph
  3. Hi Jean-Claude I remember applauding Charlie in the original posting of this slideshow, in my humble opinion still an absolute masterpiece. Oak is working well for me, thanks again ralph
  4. Hi Eric, It worked well on my equipment and I must say it looks like your going to get some really great quality photo's with your new camera so I wish you well with it. Yesterday I also took the plunge and have purchased a Canon D600, im dying to get out and about with it but am working through the manual, I understand that it takes great video's but Im looking for quality photo's more than video. Anyway Eric, I will look forward to seeing your next sequence with your new camera and have a good time in salford quays, great area for photographers. Ralph
  5. Hi Rick Great Reply and thank you. Rick if you ever want to put a "Joint" show together sometime I would be interested. Im planning to spend two days at Waddington air show so if you want to think about a USA/UK show let me know. Im looking forward to seeing the shots from Edwards. Ralph
  6. Hi Rick, Im a bit of an aircraft fanatic so I for one really enjoyed your show. Do you have any more shots of Midway? Im in the process of buying new camera and laptop at the moment and at the end of june im going to RAF Waddington here in the UK and I hope to take many photos of the aircraft which will be displaying with the new camera. I would have loved a ride in some of those aircraft and still see my self as Tom Cruise (I wish) :) ralph
  7. DG, 36mp! that will make for some interesting photo's, best get some anti wrinkle cream ralph
  8. Ken, wow thats amazing, thank you for that post, I for one will keep myself posted on this gentkemans work, absolutely stunning Ralph
  9. Jean-Claude thank you so much for this, im re-working a sequence I did of Le-Mans a couple of years ago and have many key points and do find it difficult to keep track of them all. I will give you feedback when I have completed the re- worked sequence. thank you so much for this once again ralph
  10. Jean-Charles, As Maureen has stated, stunning. I also love the way you have panned and zoomed and they made my eyes wander to look at every detail of what was on the screen before me. And also like Maureen I keep all of your sequences. This world we live in is a beautiful place and you took me to somewhere absolutely beautiful. Superb Ralph
  11. Hello Mick, What is it about France that makes some of us wish we were there? I think life is far to quick here in the UK we should sometimes take a leaf out of our european friends and enjoy life more. I love the way festivals are appreciated and celebrated in mainland europe and you have captured the fun (as Ken stated)in your sequence. I found the music relexing, thank you for sharing ralph
  12. Hi Maureen, thank you for the private message we will have to have a private message about football To repeat Maureen, you are fully aware of what I think about your photography (Excellent as ever) ralph
  13. Mick, I never questioned the historical importance and having studied the history of venice for many years the history of such a place is very important to me for personal reasons. My point is that there is more to Venice than those which were shown in Maureens sequence and rightly, as you say 'museums and art galleries. But I could list so many more. I never questioned the photography which (and I repeat) 'was superb' You were not inspired,(backwaters) I was, thats life.
  14. Hi Maureen, Having visited Venice many many times I enjoyed your 'Backwaters of Venice' very much. I very much appreciate your photography within both sequences and for those who look at your sequences from a photographers eye will no doubt feel the same. I personally appreciate 'Backwaters' more, from a tourists point of view as I have seen so many photo's of the main tourist areas and will never care if I do not see photo's from san marco, doges palace, grand canal etc etc ever again. Thats not to say I do not think your photography superb and unlike Mickp I thought your choice of music worked well especially having experienced venice on so many occasions and having felt the 'atmosphere' of some of those streets and canals you captured so well. My point is that anyone thinking of visiting venice for the first time can now 'see' through your sequence that Venice consists of so much more than St marks square etc. I will show your sequence to people that have no interest whatsoever in pte or photography but I know they will appreciate the non touristy photos of Venice. But in a word for what its worth 'excellent'. Ralph
  15. Ken, like Barry what have you done???? (although I now know) I started this thread because of a comment I read about a member not wanting to give his opinion/s about sequences. Its had great replies and I hope will help alot of new and old members, its certainly helped me. If a thread/topic/conversation is removed and placed elsewhere, would it please be possible to send a message to the person who originally started the topic and let them know where it has be transferred to. I sent a personal message to a member asking where it had gone, I thought Id gone senile not been able to see it, thanks to that member I was able to find it again and am grateful to all who have taken time to answer and give there opinions, just what the doctor ordered. thanks again to all, very much indeed. Ralph
  16. I agree entirely with the post from Trailertrash, I welcome critique, good or bad but as Peter rightly states it does take time to view posts, download, view and reply and I am grateful for all the time taken. Barry. As stated above, I welcome good or bad, I'm thick skinned and I will learn. I take your recent topic on 'Exposure' as an example which I found to be brilliant, I would never have been able to write about something like that. I do not have the experience so it is just fantastic that someone like me is able to learn from your experience, we should all be in debt to all of you more experienced members for helping us. Ralph
  17. Peter, I am very grateful for the time you have taken to view the Le Mans sequence. The points you raise are very welcomed and I agree with you entirely, the mention of using the waveform set at half seconds I should of realized, but sometimes we cant see the wood for the trees so to speak. I take your point on the repeated music and now when IO think about it, it was an awful mistake to make, you are correct about the music played, it was the BBC TV score for formula 1. I really did make a mistake on the transitions, some of them are larger than the previous photo and once again w marvelous to say the leas that a mistake that is also to make. Most of the photos Peter were taken with a little 3 meg pixel Sony cyber shot camera so I imagine that the quality is not up to scratch, I now have a Canon SLR so future photo's will be much better and I can work with RAW files. Peter, its people like yourself that most of us novices appreciate, your observations, be it to my shows or other peoples shows really help in us understanding how to put good quality sequences together, we know that perfection like beauty is in the eye of the beholder but PTE on evidence is as Ive always stated, a remarkable program and to be able to use all its features correctly will be marvelous, so I hope to be nearer to perfection. I hope when you see the rebuild you will see that I have learnt and taken on board what you and others have suggested. And yes wasn't I lucky to be able to spend a few days with the team, it was a great experience and will remain with me for many years to come. Thanking you once again Ralph
  18. Xaver, Thank you for taking the time to post a reply on this topic. Your observations on the Le mans show are personally the exact things which I as a novice would welcome, I am here to learn. If people are so kind enough to let me in on there superior knowledge then I am truly grateful to them. My Le mans show was put together over two years ago, I have learnt so much since thanks to this forum and I will take all comments onboard and implement changes as described in the re-build. Thanks so much again Xaver Ralph
  19. Peter, My family and I will certainly look in at Whitby, I really like these kind of shows, especially about Yorkshire, thank you for sharing such a well produced sequence, Im sure it will be well recieved wherever it is shown. Ralph
  20. Ron, As usual your photography is always a pleasure to view, some of the angles you shoot from may seem the norm to many, but I for one have picked up a few tips from viewing your photo's, so thank you for that. The music fits perfectly and of course the 'book' is a really nice way to showcase good photography. Really enjoyable and worth mentioning what a beautiful country we have. Ralph
  21. Peter, As you know from first hand experience, I respect your comments to the full, having met you at our camera club and knowing your work. Thank you so much for taking time to reply along with DG. Your remarks are most welcomed. We all have to learn from our mistakes, some stare us in the face but we are blind to them. We used to be told to show our sequences to people we know before showcasing them at the various camera clubs we belong to, some people I know do not have that luxury and I feel that this forum could be a massive help to those who are unable to showcase sequences. So my request would be, to help wherever we can (good or bad) Peter, thank you once again Ralph
  22. DG, thanks for taking the time to reply. I gather that this has been brought up before, but for the benefit of new members topics should be re-discussed. Some regular visitors do not read all topics so it must be impossible for new members to trawl through past postings. Constructive criticism will help one and all, none of us are to old to learn and surely if we want to improve we should be grateful to anyone who leaves comments (good or bad) Thanks again for your comments Ralph
  23. Interesting statement from Xaver regarding not commenting on slide shows. Quote, "Posted 18 August 2010 - 11:29 PM Normally I do not send comments on slide shows presented in this forum. In most cases, there isn't much positive to say, and giving comments that are not all favorable often causes trouble". If this is general then why do some of us bother to post, surely its best to have constructive criticism as well as positive remarks, I for one need to learn, hence my membership of this site, otherwise why bother. Its also interesting that people put shows up and do not bother to leave a comment about other people's shows. This is just an observation and not intended to upset anyone but Xaver leaving a remark like that made me think and I'm glad he has expressed his feelings. Good or bad, I welcome comments, I love PTE and want to improve and am grateful for all the help I can get. Interesting to hear what others feel about this. (good or bad please, I can take it ) regards to all Ralph
  24. Daniel, bravo. As Ken said no staged photo's. Great bikes, great subject and I really love the choice of music. regards Ralph
