  1. Many of us now use PTE to produce video output (in fact I no longer create any .exe files). Most NLE (Non-Linear Editor) software allows the user to specify times in frames rather than seconds and fractions of a second. This makes more sense for video output. For example the PAL standard has 25 frames per second. If I want, say, a simple fade effect from slide A to slide B and my output will be PAL video it only makes sense for the duration of the effect to be in multiples of 1/25 of a second because for each 1/25 of a second the video will display an entire frame. For PAL video it's very easy to do the arithmetic but it gets much harder to do the same arithmetic for NTSC and 24p output. Can we have a choice to set times in either seconds and fractions or in frames please?
  2. Igor, When using some of the options in "PUBLISH" there is no "CANCEL" button and the only way out is the "x" button. e.g. HD Video I would like to see a "Cancel" option? DG
  3. Since the new v750bx, there are some little inconsistencies with the french language 1) Timeline Timeline is translated as "Synchronisation" on the button of the right bottom toolbar and as "Ligne de temps" inside Parameters/Preferences. It would be better to keep "Ligne de temps" everywhere. However, in order to be coherent with other AV makers wordings, "Timeline" should have been translated as "Table de montage" (even if it is not exactly the case today, as it is not yet possible to drag and drop objects on the "Timeline") But in this case "Slide list" should have been translated as "Liste des vues" 2) Publish Publish is translated as "Publier" on the toolbars buttons except in the main menu where it remains "Créer" It would be better to keep "Publier" everywhere. 4. Igor, Would it be possible to offer Relative and Absolute options when cloning keyframes? If the Relative Option were used then moving the original (Absolute) keyframe would result in all clones moving by the same amount. If the Absolute Option is were chosen then the cloned keyframe would remain in its position regardless of any changes made to the position of the original. Perhaps a refinement would be to be able use Ctrl + Click on a keyframe to change it from a Relative Keyframe to an Absolute Keyframe. Colour coding: Blue for an original (or Absolute) Keyframe and Red for a Relative Keyframe. DG
  5. Sometimes you might have one or many audio clips associated with various slides. Once the slideshow grows to a large enough size it becomes difficult to remember which slides have audio tracks associated. If the slideshow creator wants to change out a track (audio clip), or restore a missing [audio] file they have to manually hunt down the correct slide by opening the 'Customize slide' dialog box and selecting the 'Music' tab. Could we have the slide list thumbnails show if there is an audio file attached...maybe with a small icon or indicator of some sort?
  6. What might be nice to have if at all possible, would be to be able to select a group of slides & have them fit to a selection of music. Say you have a piece of music & you want certain slides to auto fit to a 30sec part of it. You could select a group of slides eg slides 10 to 20 & then have them fit to that 30s of music. The other slides could be manually arranged to the rest of the music. I doubt I would use this as I always want my images to change in time with the music, but I am sure it would be useful to beginners. Even if it was just to be able to fit to a whole piece of music rather than a part of it. So if you had 3 pieces of music, you could auto fit groups of slides to each piece. Jill
When working in dual screen, it is possible to put O&A window on the second screen. but it must be done for each new opening of this window. It would be very convenient to register a profile, as for example in Photoshop.
  8. It would be interesting to film a person on a green (or blue) background and obtain a type Chroma key inlay in PTE. This is possible someday?
  9. It would be possible to obtain a list of project data, operative, name, time of the slide, etc .... Similar to Sy (p), but built into the PicturesToExe
  10. I'm on the second of my Edinburgh shows using 7.07, (daren't venture any further yet ) I have a 40 second video clip that I want to split into three sections to add stills between the video clips. I tried dragging the stills into the timeline view but it doesn't work. Suppose it's asking too much in view of all that's going on to introduce it in the next version, or is it impossible. Yachtsman1.
  11. DAve, Are you happy for me to move this post into the topic under "Ideas and suggestions..." that I opened at Igor's request? It would keep all this related material in one place. Peter
  12. Suggestion: The ability to save and load PREFERENCES SETS might be beneficial. I can envisage that different workspaces might be helpful for the Keep Full Slide Duration on and Keep Full slide Duration off options. The control for this is in the SYSTEM TAB. The options of Graphical, Video and Audio editors are in a different TAB as are the TOOLBAR options. It would therefore make more sense to me if the PREFERENCES SET could be saved and cover the whole gamut of controls. DG
  13. This topic has been opened at Igor's request. It stems from a brief discussion in the v7.5 Beta section of the forum. Background V7.5 of PTE introduces at least three new "file types" that can be saved on behalf of the user: - a "Profile" of the Toolbar settings from Settings | Preferences | Toolbars - the auto-recovery data file(s) - a custom-built transition effect file It seems possible that other new file types might be introduced in future releases of PTE. Proposal I suggest a possible solution for managing these files via the following design: - add to Settings | Preferences a new tab called "Folders" - in this tab allow the user to specify their choice of folders for such as Templates, Custom Transitions, Toolbar profiles, Auto-Recovery files, etc. - when PTE launches, use these defined folders to access the relevant data - when PTE is running, use these defined folders to access the relevant data - if a new release of PTE introduces a new type of file that the user's data is being saved into, add a new folder definition to this new tab regards, Peter
  14. Igor, If it is not too late PLEASE PLEASE consider within O&A enabling AUTOMATIC selection of the text entry box in the Properties Tab whenever the Text Icon is selected. I for one use this extensively and it drives me mad when I foget to take the EXTRA steps of going to the Properties Tab and clicking into the box. Thanks John
  15. When I use F4 (or F3) to show the Slide List (or the File List), I have difficulty in getting ALL the slides to show fully on one screen. I find using the slider bar erratic - the slides are either too small and fill only part of the screen or are too big and don't all fit on one screen. To have ALL the sldes showing on one screen is particularly useful when sorting the slides into order in a new project. My suggestion would be to have a default setting for both F3 and F4 functions to initially show ALL the slides filling one screen, after which the slider bar could be used to suit the subsequent sizing of the slides.
  16. Igor I wonder if you have thought about allowing the addition of silence anwhere in a sound track. To explain: I often use PTE for tutorials(commentary) and we also use it for our camera club competitions with the critique of our images being recorded from the judges comments. Its too time consuming to add the voice commentary to individual images, so I always mix the voice recordings together in Camtasia and bring it into PTE as one file. Its very convenient and quick to do that, but inevitably there are times when a slight miscalculation means I could do with a couple of seconds of silence inserted into an already made soundtrack. For example, between a short pause in the speech, I need to add a further 2 second pause to allow the image to be viewed longer.
  17. I'm sure that we all have, at sometime or other, encountered the following error condition: Yes, I know, it's always our fault for having renamed, deleted or moved the file; but wouldn't it be nice if PTE had some features to help us sort this out? What I envisage is a new Button (Search) that only appears in conjunction with this error. If we click that button, PTE initiates a Search for the missing file. If it finds a file of the same name, it offers us these choices: - use this file from that location - copy this file to a new location of our choice and use it from there - move this file to a new location of our choice and use it from there - continue the search (because this wasn't the file we wanted) - cancel the search Anyone else think that this would be a nice helpful feature to have?
  18. Igor, I wonder if this request has already been considered. Is it possible in the Object list box to be able to drag any object (perhaps not a child for obvious reasons) up or down to change its position rather by Rt clicking and selecting 'Order'? Rather like changing the layers in photoshop. I would imagine this would be too late for the next version as that is nearly ready I believe but perhaps to be on the 'To Do' list for a future version. Anthony
  19. There are no specific guidelines in the user guide on use of the text facility in the "Objects and Animations" Window. In particular I wanted to change the default font. I looked right through the user guide but could find no information on the details of the text button in the Properties tag. I did notice the "Save and use by default" facility but it appeared to be "greyed out" and didn't react when clicked - so I assumed it hadn't done anything. I think it would be helpful if the guide covered all the facilites in this dialogue box and the appearance of the button to set the default text improved to make its function more obvious. DaveOR
  20. In earlier versions I found it was not possible to set a default font in a text box, but I understood the later versions would allow this. I have V7 and in my first project I set the font to Trebuchet MS and it worked fine. For my next project I wanted to use Bullets but Treb doesn't have any, so I tried to change the default font to Times Roman. However I can't get rid of Trebuchant which comes up every time I open a text box. I am back to the original problem of setting the font every time I want a text box. Am I doing something wrong? Dave OR
  21. Greetings, The problem is that I have noticed if you select a Zoom animation (and it includes some Panning), for example, for an image and you only change the Zoom's setting (Linear, Accelerate, Slow Down or Smooth), the animation can cause an unwanted slight shifting of the image during the animation. This problem is explained more clearly with an example in the following posting: http://www.picturest...ng-to-left-bug/ The solution, giving by Lin, is to set the Pan, Zoom and Rotate to the same linearity or non-linearity parameter. This shifting problem is solved if all three animations choices (Pan, Zoom and Rotate) are set to the same parameter (Linear, Accelerate, Slow Down or Smooth). This does solve the problem. My suggestion is the make the default so that when one of the animation (Pan, Zoom or Rotate) parameters (Linear, etc.) is changed for a particular keyframe, then the parameter for each of the other animations are automatically changed to that parameter. My suggestion is to have the parameter for each animation (PZR) linked so that if someone wants the original flexibility to input a different parameter for each of the animations, then the parameters for each animations can become unlinked. I have seen this strange 'shifting' in an image for many years and only recently figured out what was going on. I don't think most users would know that it is important to make the parameters to be the same for each animation (Pan, Zoom and Rotate) to avoid this 'shifting' problem. Gary
  22. Igor After reading the thread started by Peter on borders I realized that I didn't know how two of the tabs worked. I had long since given up on PTE borders, because I found them confusing and long winded. However, as a result of the thread I took another look to try and find a use for them and I still find them confusing. The canvas size when tried seems to work a bit like a crop tool. When you move the top and bottom sliders, you can see some sense in it, but when you move the left and the right sliders it all goes wrong. The animation tab is also baffling, not sure why its there or what I can do with it. As we have seen few examples demonstrated, many others don't either. I agree that this is an area that does need to be re-designed and my view borders need to be :- 1. Placed on the inside edge or the outside edge of an image/object 2. Be placed on one image or all of them in one operation 3. After No2 above, the ability to remove the border from a strategic few images/objects. (forum members, yes I am aware of work arounds, but that is not what is needed here) I also think the ability to add arrows was a good suggestion by Walker76. I also still want to see the ability to add texture/noise to objects/backgrounds. Computer colour is just too smooth and unatural.
  23. Hello Igor. Is it possible to have a line marker in the timeline indicating the end of one piece of music and the start of the next piece? I seem to think that this used to be incorporated in version 4.8 and maybe later versions but it appears to have been dropped in the present versions ie, 7. OR AM I MISSING SOMETHING THAT I SHOULD HAVE TICKED? For me when I have a number of different pieces of music and I add sound effects etc it can be very confusing to work out the length and timings. A visible marker would be most helpful. Anthony
  24. Igor Just a couple of issues 1. Over the past few weeks, I have had 2 emails and 2 phone calls from less experienced users of PTE asking where the lightbox in PTE has gone. Yes, I appreciate its easy to bring up with F4, but seeing as we are using large screens and there is so much space in the main window of PTE, could you give some thought to putting it back on the main page as an icon? 2. Personally I very often like to use the Ctrl+W option to open up more than one image from PTE. Is that a feesible option to create?
  25. Hello, when we are in the "Full Screen of Slide List (F4)", is it not possible to add a button or option, namely, as there is on the main interface "Replace Image". Marcel
