PicturesToExe currently (v4.48 and up to v5.00) doesn't support relative paths, all paths to files in .pte project file should be absolute.
-
Thanks again!
-
Dear Dominique, Happy Birthday! With kindest regards,
-
If you editing .pte file, please care that each object in a project contained unique GUID. This GUID just a unique randomly generated number.
-
Ken, It's OK, I know about this problem in v5.00 with personal music of slides.
-
Thank you!

We're testing now convertation of old projects with objects created in v4.48 to v5.00 format. Please give me several projects with many objects on a slide. Remove all other slides from a project, leave only slide with complex objects. It will help us make exact converting to a new objects format of v5.00

Dear Patrick, You shouldn't worry concerning slide shows vs. technical demos. Please let me explain my opinion on this problem. Many people want to play and explore new features of v5.00 beta and this reason of many interesting demos and techniques. I think every painter experiments with various techniques and effects to find new solution for his future great paintings. So I think same thing with PicturesToExe 5. Barry Beckham's web site, Beechbrook Cottage, Diaporimages.net, Diapositif, our forum, TheDom Sharing Place and many other web sites announce new perfect Audio&Visual works every day. We have balance between slide shows and demos. Of course, in perspective it would be wonderful to see more slide shows - Audio & Visual. Let me explain second problem. Complexity of the program. We have to add Pan/Zoom effects. Our customers required this feature and we couldn't compete successfully more on the market without Pan/Zoom functions. If don't open "Objects and Animation" window. PicturesToExe 5 stays so simple as earlier. If you don't use Pan/Zoom effects, you will not worry about hardware requirements and etc. Slide show will work on any PC. But if you decide to use Pan/Zoom effect we suggest powerful tool - "Objects and animation" window. You can do virtually all according your creative ideas. I on purpose and specially didn't make simple editor like in well known competition program, to prevent appearing of Pan/Zoom effects without any need, just for the fact that Pan/Zoom effects used. Concerning hardware requirements for Pan/Zoom effects. I don't know any other product where Pan/Zoom effects plays ideally smooth in real-time. Other good known programs suggest not so sharp picture and have problems with smoothness at 1280x1040 even on ATI Radeon 9600 Pro with 128 MB of video memory. And problems with reliability, crashes. We spent two years of development to reach maximal reliability, quality and minimally possible hardware requirements for Pan/Zoom. It's sad that not all video cards enough powerful for such excellent purpose as slide show. But it's a question of nearest future. According this it seems that all potential of PicturesToExe for Pan/Zoom effects will be opened in the future. I'm very glad that now after releasing of new Windows Vista it requires from any PC (at home and office) modern video cards. It means that in short time all PCs will be upgraded and they will be perfectly play any Pan/Zoom effects very well. But you can create DVD-Video with any effects right now. For PCs, you can create two types of slide shows: - With simple effects - these Audio & Visual will work anythere and you need to care about hardware requirements. - With Pan/Zoom for modern PCs and video cards. I believe that v5.00 will be excellent replacement of previous v4.48 Thanks for reading of this.

Excuse me with late response! I'll consult with company which licensed us DVD burning library.

This problem may happens only on ATI video cards and ATI confirmed this problem after our request (ATI didn't correctly support adjusted gamma parameters in exclusive fullscreen 3D mode). They fixed this behaviour in drivers for Windows Vista and ATI promissed to release updated drivers for Windows XP later (as they said "low priority"). In beta 9 we will suggest temporal solution - you can set non exclusive fullscreen mode for your slide show. But in this mode Pan effect will not play so smooth as in exclusive fullscreen mode.
-
I'm sorry about this problem, but it's definitely hardware or software problem. Please install latest drivers for your video card from ATI www.ati.com web site. If problem was in incorrect drivers, it will help. If problem in hardware, future Windows Vista also will not work correctly.

This message "Exception EAccessViolation module PTEPreview at 0006255E" tells that video card doesn't support hardware accelleration or has lesser than 32 MB of video memory. Next beta 9 will work without such error, but Pan/Zoom effect will play not enough smooth. Please think about buying of modern video card with 128 MB of video memory.

Maureen, It should work, if you copy some slide(s), then open another slide show and paste copied slides (Ctrl-V). p.s. Concerning copying of objects in the editor. I'll make copying of objects via clipboard in v5.00
-
Now we're integrating all parts of v5.00 to the final release. It's a reason of long delay of the beta 9. After beta 9, final release will be soon.

There will be 3 states of buttons (and 3 views of a button): normal, highlighted, pressed. Yes, you can make background of button fully or partially invisible. You can make text on a button partially visible. Also for the text on a button you can add individual shadow. And shadow for entire button. Using Hue/Saturations controls you can reach any color of a button. Exactly as Navigation bar, but more powerful. You can create absolutely new own templates for buttons.Maureen, Thanks for reminding, we'll create one more style - fully transparent button, but with visible borders. Beta 9 will be during 2 weeks.

Converting of old objects v4.48 to new v5.00 format
Igor replied to Igor's topic in General Discussion
Thank you for the quick responses! Al, No problem with Windowed mode. Because in this case I can use size of window instead of screen resolution. And converted objects will be displayed visually exactly as before. -
When you will open old project created in old v4.48 in new v5.00, PicturesToExe will automatically convert all objects to the new format. There is a major question for this. Earlier as you know object were not scalable and their positions depended on screen resolution. How you want PicturesToExe to convert these old objects: 1) Convert size of old objects to relative sizes (in percents). Now these converted objects will look equally at any screen resolution. They will be scaled proportionally. (For converting I'll use 1024x768 virtual screen size. In other words, converted objects in v5.00 will look as they displayed in v4.48's slide show at 1024x768 screen resolution). 2) Leave them as is. PicturesToExe will set flag "Original size" for these objects. However later you can adjust these objects to percents in "Objects and animation" window. But it's a hard work. Personally I don't like this variant. It better to make this convertation in auto mode to don't bother user with a questions. What is your opinion about this?

ATI new driver (10.01.2007) and 3D color management?
Igor replied to Urmas's topic in General Discussion
I didn't test it yet. ATI already solved problem with desktop gamma in drivers for Windows Vista. For Windows XP they promised do it later ("low priority" as they said). I'll remind ATI about this on February. -
Roberto, It's a very interesting info! And it would be wonderful if Crossover could support PicturesToExe v4.48 and v5.00 beta. But for this it's necessary that many users of PicturesToExe write to this company and shown several slide shows created in v4.48 and v5.00 beta 1) Concerning created slide show (AV) If you play only MP3/WAV/MIDI music it doesn't use any DLLs. If slide show contains WMA/OGG, it extracts wma.dll or ogg.dll to Temp folder of Windows. For other needs slide shows also use this Temp folder to put configuration file. 2) Main program of PicturesToExe v4.48 (apr.exe) and slide show can work even under pure Windows 95. It means that we use only common functions in Windows and they should exists in Crossover. Main program use Temp folder and Application Data of current user to put Preview EXE file. For example: C:\Documents and Settings\Igor\Application Data\PicturesToExe\ By the way, did you try slide shows created in v5.00 beta? For example this: http://www.wnsoft.com/apr/show/Flowers.zip (1.6 MB)

Bruce, I just sent you emails with request of additional details.
-
Please install latest v4.48 It should solve problem with preview.
-
You can only create slide show as video: http://www.picturestoexe.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=3089 Oftopic: Interesting video of night sky over telescopes in Chile: http://www.astrosurf.com/sguisard/SGU-Para...6-mus-ok-en.avi (6 MB)

Rebooting is not necessary. Please say me what text of this error was shown? Do you have this problem earlier? I think the reason in settings of your TV. Try other commercial DVD movies with menu to see how it will be displayed.

Thank you for testing! Please could you do the next test: 1) In Video Builder on the last third page (with settings) choose only "Create DVD folders" option and it should create two folders: VIDEO_TS and AUDIO_TS. 2) Please copy these earlier created VIDEO_TS and AUDIO_TS folders to drive C:\ (C:\VIDEO_TS and C:\AUDIO_TS) 3) Download and run this burning utility: http://www.wnsoft.com/test/BurningUtility.zip (110 KB) 4) If you will work with -RW disc press Erase button before burning, in another case press "Record DVD" button. Please let me know about result.
