  1. I have been projecting Pte .exe files (shows) successfully for years, but for some reason that I am wondering whether any member of this forum can solve, I suddenly cannot project them anymore. Old PowerPoint sequences made many years ago project OK still. I use a Samsung Laptop which appears to be functioning perfectly, and an Epson Projector which will still project DVDs via a DVD player. I am using HDMI leads and have tested them via the TV. All sequences will still play through the TV, that is PTE ones and PowerPoint ones. What may have happened is that someone asked me to present their PowerPoint USB sequence, which still projects OK, or it may be something to do with Microsoft Updating Windows 10. I zhave spend over 12 hours trying to solve this without success, so I would be grateful of any help. Thanks in advance. John
  2. This appears to be exactly what you are wanting and you vary the time of each image holding the title slide on longer if you wish.
  3. In 2016 I made about 25 DVDs for home use on the TV. John
  4. Barry, I have made 6 DVD's recently using the PTE program without any of the trouble mentioned. Since Windows 10 I did buy an external DVD machine from Amazon for £15 which plugs into the computer with two USBs but it all seems to work well with PTE, and I just follow the program from Publish (2nd Menu) DVD-Video Disc. I thought the banner mentioned only appeared if you had not paid for the full version. Perhaps if she has indeed paid she needs to contact wnsoft for them to clear her product key, or that may be with you? I hope that this helps but I am not sure that it will. regards, John.
  5. I solved the problem by buying an External USB 2.0 Slim DVD CD R/RW Drive Burner Writer from Amazon £15.95 and Colin told me about Imgburn.com. Using PTE deluxe and Imgburn I have made another DVD successfully. The External DVD also solved a problem I had with my Laptop DVD not working after uploading Windows 8.1 and now plays all DVDs successfully. I haven't tried to burn anything through it yet but that should work too. Thanks for everyone's comments above.
  6. Colin, I downloaded ImgBurn and have successfully made another copy of the sequence using PTE Deluxe and ImgBurn. So I am very grateful to you for practically solving this problem. As an aside the original DVD in the PC still only plays and re-records CDs not DVDs so I did two things - 1. got some different recordable DVDs which did not alter the problem and also bought via Amazon an External USB 2.0 Slim DVD CD R/RW Drive Burner Writer for £15.95 which is what I have used to burn the new disk. I have a PC and a laptop. With the PC I could not play parts of Barry Beckham's PTE 8 disk "What's New in 8" in the external drive, but by using ImgBurn to convert a file this was possible. In the Laptop with the external DVD attached I was able to play any part of Barry's disk. The PC is on Windows 7 and the Laptop on Window 8.1 One last thing I have noticed is the external DVD is set for region 2 DVDs whereas the PC is set for Region 1 DVDs and although I have tried altering the PC to 2 the computer doesn't seem to let me do this. Anyway thanks again. John
  7. Colin, Thank you for this information. John
  8. I have put virgin DVD-R Disks into the drive which have not been used before, and just done it again without success. Each time I have pushed a disk into the drive I have waited until the DVD Drive light goes out. Although I had success with these Verbatim disks before I will go and get a new pack of a different make. I have also gone on the computer to DVD RW Drive (D) Properties which tells me "this device is working properly" I have also on other advice deleted the driver, rebooted and let Windows update the driver and then asked Windows to check the driver which come sup with "best driver already installed". Another thing I have done to test the drive is put an ordinary CD into the drive and that played back audio OK, but commercial DVDs do not - I have checked the Region on the computer which is United States Region 1, and I tried to change it to UK Region 2 but the computer doesn't allow that change. As I have said before it all worked OK previously and I have gone back to PTE 7.5 and tried burning a Disk in wnsoft Video Builder but it won't have it, dare I repeat "Insert a Disk or Disk not Inserted". So I still haven't solved this!
  9. Thank you Yachtsman1 - I did do that and backdated restore to April 30th but this has not put it right. I had another go this evening and noticed that if I put a movie in I get a Windows dialog saying "Insert a Disc" which of course I do and if I try using PTE Video Builder it seems to produce its own dialog "Disc not inserted" and then it tells me Video Builder.exe is not responding.
  10. Ken yes I have a dVD Movie and that too does not play.
  11. I successfully made a DVD disc at the beginning of May via PTE 8.0 on a Windows 7 PC. Now the DVD will not make another disc or play back any DVDs. It will still copy jpgs to a CD. Since May I have clicked on the Windows 10 icon and booked the upgrade later this month. Windows 10 will not have a program to run computer installed DVD/CDs which Windows 7 does. Is it possible that already there has been a Windows Update disconnecting the operation of the player? The message I get from attempting to make a DVD is to "Insert a Disc" - which I do only for it to eject and repeat the request. The Disc inserted is the same type as the successful one.
  12. I am having a similar problem. I used PTE deluxe program to produce a DVD from a short sequence I have made and it plays well on DVD to TV. The disc doesn't now play on the PC I used to make it, nor will any other DVDs although it is possible to transfer jpegs to a CD. I have explored several possibilities and even tried making another DVD with the same sequence without success. I am just wondering whether clicking on the icon for Windows 10 has had anything to do with this as I have read they are not going to include DVD players in the Operation System as has been done in Windows 7. Has anyone else found the same has happened to their Windows 7 machine? What program is recommended to re-establish the DVD to work? I have tried Cyberlink Director 15 without success and I have Nero already on the PC. I am using PTE 8.0 .17.
  13. I successfully downloaded and ran this wonderful piece on a 3 year old PC but wondered if it would download and run on a 6 month old Samsung Laptop with Intel ® Core i5-3210m CPU @ 2.50Ghz 2.50GHz with memory (RAM) 6GB. 64OS X64 based processor and Windows 8.1. It downloaded in about 5 minutes and ran perfectly on battery power! There may have been a little shimmering as the 3200 frames moved in front of the moon but it was hardly noticeable. regards. John
  14. Thank you both for suggestions. I had forgotten about the snipping tool > capture > save > print jpeg. The reason for this is that some relations want the details of their family member together with the person's photograph. So I managed to select the slide in the project and provide a print. Lin - what is Air and Sky
  15. I have a sequence on WW1 with 400 plus slides with nearly all having text added in the Project File via Objects & Animation. Is there anyway the slides with text on them can be printed with the photos on the same slide. In other words is it possible to print out the project file please?
  16. I followed Barry's (bbdigital) instructions (1st reply) and it works fine in my set up, I can now use Ctrl - W in PTE 8.01 and any highlighted photo in the Slide List goes straight into Photoshop Elements 11 Editor. My computer is a 64 bit one and I used the (x86)in the set up. John
  17. I have exactly the same problem but with Photoshop Elements 11 and PTE 8.01. It used to work with Photoshop 10 and PTE 7.5, so having changed to PTE 8.1 and Photoshop Elements 11 I thought something had changed in one of the programs, so I get over it by opening the image file from the Editor in Photoshop Elements 11. This of course is not so convenient, so I will be interested if anyone else has a solution. John
  18. I have just had to make two menus for a couple of shows I have done or about to do. They all worked successfully and here are the details of what I did with v.7.0 of Pictures to Exe and Windows XP:- PTE – Making a Menu to Run Sequences in PicturesToExe 7.0 1. Open Pictures To Exe 7.0 2. Click File > New (New Project Dialog appears) Insert Menu name and Click OK. 3. The opening page of PTE is on screen. Find your chosen background slide and double click on it to insert it into the Slide List. This slide is best if it is a JPEG reduced to 1024 x 768 and can be any suitable slide. 4. At the bottom of the PTE Window click on Project Options. Make sure in the dialog that appears with the following tabs, that the following are correctly adjusted:- MAIN tab – Repeat show until ESC is pressed (change from: Close Show after Last Slide. Delete Tick against Show Navigation Bar. CONTROL tab – Mouse cursor – Show (change from Auto Hide) SCREEN tab – Mode Fullscreen. Tick: Fixed Size of Slide. Delete Tick: Use Hardware Acceleration. EFFECTS tab – Disable by clicking in blank boxes top right hand side. Click OK. Save the Project by clicking File > Save. 5. Click on Objects and Animation, and your chosen blank slide will appear, adjust if necessary the size to say 50%. Click OK in the top left menu icons which will produce a button and drag it to the required position. 6. Double Click on the button and from the panel on the right use the first two tabs as required:- Select a suitable font eg: Microsoft Sans Serif. Size is altered by dragging handles at edges of the button. Type in name for Button (probably the Title of the Sequence) Leave Font Colour and Background as default. On second tab click on “None” and a selection of actions will appear,- Choose: Run Application or Open File. This produces a box with a file icon on right hand side. - Click on this and browse for required sequence or file. Follow dialogs. Click OK at bottom of page. To add more buttons first click on background to remove handles on last button applied, and go back to 5 above and follow instructions again. 7. To add a general title eg: Name of Club or Name to cover a selection of sequences use the menu “A” which will produce ‘Text’ in centre of the screen. This can be overtyped in the panel on the right in a similar way to adding Buttons (above) and dragged for size and position. 8. When finished Click OK close at the top of the Object and Animations Window. Press f9 (or go to Publish on PTE opening screen) which produces an .exe file. Click Save in the File menu. Click top right hand side X to close. 9. Add a Shortcut on the desktop to open the menu by right clicking on the desktop. Click New > Shortcut (a Wizard appears) Browse for Title.exe (saved in the process of making the menu). To operate from the desktop – Double click the Icon and single click the button to start the required sequence. To amend an existing menu see next page… AMENDING AN EXISTING MENU PTE v.7.0 1. Open PicturesToExe Project File ( the one that created the original menu NOT the .exe file). The normal PTE opening screen should appear with the single background slide showing in the Slide List. 2. Click Objects and Animation. 3. To amend ‘temporary text’ previously typed on this screen, double click on the Text and amend as required. This would possible be the name of a club or programme. Click Close. 4. To amend a button that runs an .exe file, double click on it and amend as required referring to first sheet item from item 5. 5. To add another button or .exe sequence to the list, click OK on the menu and proceed as original sheet from item 5. 6. Press f9 or use Publish Menu to create new .exe file (Create dialog appears) 7. Save with either new name or old one (overwrite). Confirm comes up for ‘overwrite’) 8. Close screen ‘X’ top right and click ‘yes’ on PTE dialog to confirm Project update. 9. Close PTE sequences screen or where you save your menus. 10. If overwritten original shortcut can be used. Click and test to make sure the sequences start OK. Can escape (ESC) to save time in running them all through. John
  19. I had a similar experience but not with a laptop and I unticked the box when making the sequence and before making my DVD as Barry suggests. Where to find the box? Under Project Options > Screen > Box with text "Fixed Size of Slide" - Make sure this box is unticked and it may solve the problem. John
  20. Many thanks. Deleting the tick in Fixed Size had the required result. After doing this I remade the DVD and played it on the DVD machine that upgrades the picture and the result on an HD TV is superb. John
  21. I am using PTE v.6.5 with Video Builder de lux to make a DVD for playing on the TV. Going through the Project Options of the Builder can you tell me please what you set up to get a full screen picture 16.9 automatically on the TV. What I get at the moment from a DVD made in Video Builder is a 16.9 Title and then the images in the sequence are much smaller unless I adjust the TV Aspect to Zoom 2 which I feel should be on 16.9 too. Thanks in advance. John
  22. I have found the replies and examples to this topic fascinating and have viewed most of the links in Lin Evans examples and Jean-Cyprien and of course the original Vimeo. On a new computer I have everything played beautifully, and smoothly. I then tried the more advanced sequences of Lin Evans and Jean-Cyprien on a laptop which is about three or four years old, and has in the past played any more advanced sequences I have examined. It would not play Lin Evans PTE show display, - it got as far as the waterfalls and gave up. It would not play the Jean-Cyprien "Avent" sequence at all. Is this a sign of the times, that the advancement of PTE possibilities that are now being explored are proving difficult for older computers and therefore members will find older equipment redundent and have to buy new computers to handle the advancing technology? Some may not be willing to do this and it could effect the progress of sales of PTE. John
  23. I tried the download on a new computer and an old one and it ran very well on both. Congratulations. John
  24. My reply doesn't seem to have appeared. What I suggested was "Downsizing" but I am not sure whether this fits the bill. John R
