Robert For reasons that escape logic, it's turned off by default. You will find a tick box in the preferences, but Ctrl+R does it too -
PTE link to my Photoshop Elements Editor
Barry Beckham replied to LumenLux's topic in General Discussion
I just tried on my version of PTE8 and the images opened up and were editable in Elements 12 I first set up the graphical editor in PicturesToExe 8 via Settings>Preference>system and then I located the Elements 12 application file You will find that at c:\program files (x86)\adobe\Photoshop Elements12\PhotodshopElementsEditor Leave off the (x86) unless you have a 64 bit computer It should work fine -
Thank you I posted that show back in July and your comments caught me a bit by surprise popping this morning, but welcome all the same. In my view, pictorial slide shows, (those that don't have a very strong story line) need to be short and the images must be special or there is no lasting appeal. I suppose I find myself in the same boat as many photographers these days, with far more images on my hands than I can realistically use. Creating a slide show of the best of them is the obvious choice for me. Fantasia for PC and Mac

Well, that is just how the internet is all over. Look for drivers for Nvidia cards and you have to have the COMMON SENSE not to click on the google links that QUITE OBVIOUSY do not come from Nvidia and lead to all sorts of crap you don't want. Develop some savvy or stay off the net, but its a bit rich having a great service for free and constantly bitching about it. Try saying something midly similar in respect of PTE and you will see pages of text appear from many of you jumping up and down on the spot.:lol:/> .

JT You amaze me, you have a service for free that will give you 50 gig or storage space. How do you expect them to pay for it if it's not through advertising. I have hundreds of videos stored there and 35gig of space used without a hicup all for $30 a year. Tell me that is not reasonable !!!

Dave Firstly you should always send large files these days via the cloud. It';s not entirely fair to send huge files as email attachements even if the isp allows them. Far better to send a link that the recipiant can download at their leasure. At least they know what they are downloading. In an email attachement it can seem as though the emails have stalled to some because it is so slow. The benefits are that you have your slide show securely stored, if someone else pops up and and wants a copy yopu just re-create the link and send it to them. Use a free service like www.yousendit or www.mediafire. Upload your zipped file and send the recipents sks to see the show the link can ve copied and sent anytime. I have hundreds of zipped videos and slide shows on mediafire and it works fine, no bother. The only issue you have is the free account comes with adverts to pay for it. I find it convenient to create a spreadsheet list of what I store and I paste the link in beside the subject title. That way I always have the link without having to connect to mediafire at all. . By the way for other members, there is a deal on with mediafire about $30 to store 100gig of files all add free. I am not sure how they do it for the price.

A superb AV Peter and more work involved in making that then meets the eye. Love the story and the subject is one of my favourites too. Very polished and a pleasure to watch.

My point is that many people and ME are not a bit interested in the technical aspects of our PC. I fully appreciate that some are and it's the very technical aspect that appeals to them. Live and let live I say. Sure I have learned a lot over the years to get myself out of trouble or install new hardware, but the SSD I have bought will be out of date long before it fails. That I can almost guarantee. With a 250gig SSD and all the programs and OS I use I will still have 100gig unused, maybe a little less as time rolls on.

Tom I get the impression you're not in favour of a computer being a domestic appliance like a fridge. I think you will find most people are of a similar mind and that is exactly what they want. Its why we have an Operating system and software to separate us from all that technical mumbo jumbo, so we can be free to be creative.
-
Colin With the greatest of respect I couldn't possibly care less about this. :rolleyes:/> I have no interest in these technicalities whatsoever. The PC either works or it doesn't. If it doesn't I will fix it, but it's been working for 2 years so putting a SSD in is not likely to grind it to a stop, is it !

Slideshow presentation of PicturesToExe 8.0 ...
Barry Beckham replied to Aginum's topic in Slideshows & AV Shows
Excellent a great mix of stills and video. -
Tom Really ! Firstly I don't have the first clue what you're talking about and wouldn't know a paging file if one jumped up and bit me. I am sure you don't have to be a technician to use a SSD. Don't we just fit and forget them like all the others? I think I will just plug it in, install windows and hope for the best :blink:/>/> I can't cope with KFSD and Paging files in the same year :rolleyes:/>
-
To be honest I have been so impressed with the Solid State Drive that yesterday I bought one for my own PC. Just need to pluck up the courage to install it, along with the OS and all the programs and millions of usernames and passwords :rolleyes:/>/>

Am I the only one whose eyes glaze over and the will to live ebbs when I see the letters KFSD

Lin After a short while you may have great difficulty looking at the old type of displays. Its amazing how quick we adapt and get used the screen we use daily. I have had a Dell 27in for 5 years and I could not buy one smaller now. It's one of the positives I say to people about using PTE. In early days I would struggle to create good quality 16*12 prints, but here we are now able to see images bigger than that on a vibrant flat screen. I have not looked back to check, but I don't think you had a SSD fitted. We have just had a new PC built for my better half and it's much the same spec as what you have, but we went for a SSD for the C drive and it makes such a difference. Full boot up in under 20 seconds. It makes my PC look steam driven

At the present state of development with Slide Styles a complete newcomer to PicturesToExe should be steered well away from them, because they add a complication they don't need at that early stage. On the one hand it's tempting to demonstrate how Slide Styles could be used to make 3:2 images cover a 16:9 slide show simply and easily. (it could sidestep the usual issues of aspect ratio conflicts) However, introducing Slide Styles that early with the issues they introduce with slide timings could cause all sorts of confusions. Slide Styles at their present development are not something that should be introduced at a basic level because they are not a basic tool

Bert Thank you, but I have picked up an error in the Newsletter. In the PTE for camera clubs section I linked to an example slide show, but linked to the Mac version not the PC version. I have corrected the PDF so the right one is now up on line, but if anyone tried unsuccessfully to download it. You will find the slide show HERE

I have been making tutorials for years and have 100's for PTE. Just cllck the PTE Tutorials link below

I made a short video on the subject in our November newsletter, which may help and it's still available on line at the link to the left. Just look for free video in the November Newsletter, I think I recognise your name as one who has visited my site before.

Noel I am having a little difficulty making the system run. Can you add a bit more detail to this please? Is the problem that you can't get the software to run, or you can, but need to know where to start once it's running.

John Well, that was a very nice review thank you BB

I think PTE should decide to make a slide show for me, select the images, resize them, find some music and throw together a slide show. Then let me know when it's done via a pop up on my computer. :rolleyes:/> Then of course it should post the result to You tube because I can't be bothered with the hassle of that. Why doesn't anyone say the obvious that if you want to create anything of merit you have to actually do something. If you just think about the difference between the aspect ratio of the images (3:2 mostly) and the slide show (maybe 16:9) then how would the computer know what part of the image you want. It's handing over creative control to a machine. As long as you don't have your images jumping all over the screen you can use high resolution images directly from the camera. Images from a Canon 21Mp camera are 500k or less when saved as jpegs. They will work fine on all but the oldest systems. You could achieve almost the same ends by making the default in the Essentials Edition "Cover Screen"
-
My guess would be a recourse issue. I would go down the path you have already suggested and batch size the images so they fill the aspect ratio you need. A 3:2 format image cut back to 1920*1280 will be only 200k at Jpeg Level 8
