  1. Discovering almost every day, as most of the forum members I suppose, the numerous new functionalities of the future v5 of PTE, I'm really amazed to learn that Jean-Claude is already working on adapting his Sy(P) to the new PTE v5 ! Sy(P) is a fantastic tool to complement PTE v4; if Jean-Claude succeeds in keeping pace with the future v5, then PTE + Sy(P) together will be the absolute weapon !
  2. This is an automatic function of Invision Power Board (the software used for this Forum).
  3. if you wish, there are some comments and advice on this page (towards the end).
  4. I've just seen that the French Website has been updated and that 90 entries have finally been received ! What a success ! The participants' list can be seen on this site (as it is made with Flash, I can't put a direct link to the Challenge page, sorry ) - go to the third tab from left ("L'atelier Parmantier coordonne"), then to the last tab "Challenge 3-2-1"; the participants' list is the fourth item on the drop-down menu. I wish Maureen and her team full success for the Aldbourne event - enjoy the show !
  5. I think that the suggestion didn't have to be made as this facility already exists ! It's the function "Template"; when you create a template, all files used for the project (images, sound(s), pte file) are copied in a folder "yourname.pt" located in the "templates" folder which is in the main PTE directory.
  6. I fully agree with your last post, Lin ! Well said
  7. Yes ! some countries use periods instead of commas ! Anyway, the new Visual Editor looks promising
  8. Welcome to the Forum Ivanhoe I totally share Al's reply and practice. It's a good idea to create templates (a much too ignored useful function of PTE) and I think it is safe also to copy the folder to another location (like an external drive) - particularly if one wants to delete an old version of PTE, the risk of deleting existing templates within this 'old' directory is thus minimized.
  9. I have (as well as several friends) the BenQ 6210 and I'm very happy with it (I have made several projections with audiences of 100+). I'm member of two camera clubs; one has the Optoma 6150 (1 year old) and another one the Nec HT1000 (almost 2 years old). Both give full satisfaction as well (the Nec having been used for the projections of an international festival).
  10. Hi Ron, Yes, you can place the counter where you want, but you have to edit your page(s) and move all the Sitemeter code block (* see example below) to where you want. It's relatively easy if you know well html language and/or if you have tools like Dreamweaver, WebExpert, etc. Usually people leave the code, and thus the counter, where it is (bottom left) as it is quite discrete. Gerard (*) here is the start and the end of the Sitemeter code block that has to be moved : <!--WEBBOT bot="HTMLMarkup" startspan ALT="Site Meter" --> (...) <!--WEBBOT bot="HTMLMarkup" Endspan -->
  11. The code has to be on every page; if not, the system can't keep trace of the pages visited, the duration of the visit, etc.; and this sort of statistics is most useful (much more than a basic counter) to know which pages are seen most or less, which are the entry and the exit pages, etc. Of course, the counter doesn't increment for each page visited, only the first entry counts.
  12. Go to the "Manager" tab and you'll find in the left menu an entry called "ignore visits"; then it is well explained and easy to do.
  13. I've been using Sitemeter since the end of 2003 and I'm very happy with it as it is very reliable and offers many 'tracking' options. One feature which I find very nice is the possibility of not counting one's own visits because this artificially increases the number of so-called visitors to one's own website. Thanks to Ian's post (hello Ian!), I've discovered the new 'location tracking' option. Ron, if you add the url of your website into your profile, this will add a button and a direct link to your site; thus we'll be encouraged to pay a visit to your website (as far as I'm concerned, I don't know where to find it )
  14. Congratulations Ken for having posted the 20 000th message !
  15. As Dadou says, this sounds like a provocation and it is quite ridiculous... Anyway, a more accurate translation would be : "At international level, the ultimate is to make AV shows without commentaries. Pictures and music only. Most of all, no vertical photos showing the authors, it is dumb". Well, it is ridiculous as I said ! Please, advise your nice correspondent to come and have a chat on the French forum devoted to AV (diaporama, in French)... we'll be delighted to teach him what 'international quality standards' are, show him some excellent AVs with commentaries and vertical pictures... and we'll teach him good manners at the same time Here's the link to the French Forum : Diaporam@Forum
  16. Guido : As for SY(P) update, Jean-Claude has given explanations in another thread; I quote : Sy(P) can be downloaded here.
  17. Stonemason, I'm happy that SY(P) was what you were looking for. It is very useful indeed. Don't worry, Røn, I don't mind at all being called Gerard
  18. And also Synopsis PTE or SY(P), a powerful tool complementary to PTE. See this thread
  19. You can download and have a look at this slideshow of mine : Avenir lamine and also have a look at the shows available on this website : Vision or on this one
  20. Yes, I use CRC, which is very useful... but I have to admit that I don't use it systematically - which is obviously wrong Thanks for the reminder !
  21. I confirm what Ron said: all the projections I've seen with the Royale Digital (in Paris and in Cirencenster for the last RPS AV Internationals) were really good. As far as I can remember, for the very first projections in Paris 2 years ago the "old" model of the Royale used a projector which had a contrast ratio a bit too low, but the one used in Cirencester was excellent (or maybe that the screen was the "culprit"?). And Maureen's projector is also excellent ! As I said previously, we are very happy with the Optoma of our photographic club; we don't use it only for PTE shows but also for projecting digital pictures; the image on screen compares quite well with the image from slides projected with our Leica RT (except for high lights [whites and bright yellows] where the slide projector still gives better results).
  22. Many French photographic associations and AV producers that I know use with great satisfaction the following equipment : NEC HT 1000/1100 - OPTOMA 739 - BenQ 6200/6210. Several AV authors have seen PTE presentations on big screens (more than 3 meter wide) and with at least two of the above projectors and they are all very satisfied (even after having seen their own PTE presentations !); the NEC HT 1000 or HT1100 seem to give the best results overall (particularly for the rendering of high lights, whites and yellows) but it costs roughly twice as much as the Optoma and the BenQ. My photographic club owns an Optoma 739, the Chairman has the BenQ 6200 and I have the BenQ 6210... and we can't really see any quality difference between these three models when we use them with the same shows and the same photographs ! On a screen less than 3 meters wide, they give the best results on "Eco" mode (otherwise, the image is too bright for a darkened room). The important matters are the contrast ratio (1500:1 or more) and above all the fact that the audience should be seated at least 1 meter behind the projector. Hope this helps.
  23. Thank you, Guido ! Nice work
  24. This is a great realization ! I completed this game and thought that it was pure magic ! I couldn't believe that it had been made with PTE... After having read the explanations on how Jean-Pierre made it, I'm even more "puzzled" This is brilliant - a must to see and try !
