  1. I have also experienced the same problem as Jean-Pierre but put it down to a case of "great minds thinking alike" and wishing to access the Moderator at the same time. A short wait and judicious use of the back arrow seems to solve the problem for me. JP and I are in a different time zone from Al. Ron [uK]
  2. I go along with what Lin has said, Barry's selection of royalty free music CDs are excellent value and highly suitable for use with sequences. Ron [uK]
  3. Geoff, this was a sequence of soothing photography and required a backing to match. I don't think the voice over helped in this respect. The verse did not relate in my opinion and in no way should it have been broken into sections, leaving one wondering when the next extract was coming. A few years ago, a colleague asked me to record a poem for him and it took me several goes before I could match the mood of the verse. The first time I heard it in the finished sequence was at a regional AV competition and, like you, my colleague had separated my recording into parts and its affect was lost. Ron [uK]
  4. I enjoyed and envied your sequence Phil. I visited Beamish about fifteen years ago as part of a coach tour based at Durham. Beamish was our last full day. I had taken pictures in and around the "mine" and then on to the "town" for some more shots. I finished my film and took the opportunity of changing it in the restaurant above the Co-op store. I went on to "take" the railway station and a loco in operation; a fairground; and in and outside the solid tyred bus, all very nostalgic. On our journey home the next day we stopped off at York and visited the Minster, where I knew I would have to change my film again. I got to 42 on the counter and realised that my film had not advanced from Frame 0. THE MASTERPICES THAT GOT AWAY? Thank heavens to-day for the digital camera. Ron [uK]
  5. Dom, I wrote the following on 1 February 2007 under a topic "Where did my work go". As the show described in the last paragraph can be launched by downloading from my website, it follows that it could be copied from a CD. I wrote this in a topic "Buttons" on 28 December 2003: "This thread asking about buttons and the Object Editor has prompted me to place on the Beechbrook site a very short demonstration sequence for opening a show. It is called “Intro Demo”. Thank you Bill for your perseverance in helping me in finally getting a sequence on your site. "I am grateful to Keith and Ian for their initial advice on how to use the Object Editor and to Nobeefstu and CC for pointing me in the right direction in the use of invisible buttons. The thread “Object Editor – Invisible Button Bounding Box” relating to the latter was on 11 October 2003. All of the images were prepared in Photoshop." I am still using the method in 4.48 for introducing my programmes and am patiently awaiting the Object Editor to be opened in 5.0. My "Intro Demo" is still on the Beechbrook site and a more recent version on page 6 (Links) of my website (bottom left club logo link). The latter is a large folder containing my whole workings at that time. Open the folder and set the sequence running by clicking on the 06 on a yellow background icon. When this intro sequence ends run your mouse over the portraits and where a hand appears there is a sequence from that person. Click to open. See also my original thread on this latter sequence entitled "Versions 4.0 and 5.0 - Interim Arrangements" initiated 25 August 2006. Ron [uK]
  6. Thank you Ray for those timely comments and I join with you in supporting Igor and the team in their method of developing their product PTE. Fortunately I was not employed in the corporate world. although at this point I wonder how my successors are coping with the idiosyncrazies of the current breed of politicians in the UK. Ron [uK]
  7. Well spoken Ragnar and in particular that of the joy which Igor, Aleksey and the rest of the team are giving us. Ron [uK]
  8. Fun to make and a joy to watch. The images were stunning, with outstanding clarity even when zooming in. The sequence gave me lots of assurance in the quality of my own equipment to be able to cope with PTE 5.0. Thanks Lin and by the way it took under two minutes to download. High regards. Ron [uK]
  9. Bill This is a great addition to the service that you give. It would be useful if "uploaders" could add the duration of their sequence in their comments. Thanks. Ron [uK]
  10. Ken Thanks for "dxdiag" Ron [uK]
  11. I believe there was a recent posting to say that beta#9 was imminent, possibly the reason for the deletion of the thread I too noticed that the thread has been deleted. I wanted to find the "Run" reference which opens the hardware composition of one's computer. I forgot to make a note of it. Can someone supply please? Ron [uK]
  12. Tom I gave my talk to Sutton Camera Club last evening on "What's New in AV" and it was a great success. I gave credit to named members of the WnSoft Forum for the developments since PTE 5.0 beta#1 was introduced last May. I likened you to my grandsons sitting on my knee some 20+ years ago with requests such as "Draw a ship Grandpa", "Where's the guns Grandpa?" and the way in which those named members sought to solve your questions. I then closed my talk by showing your "Autumn Feb 2007" and "Fun with Five" which rounded off the evening to great amusement and acclaim. Thanks Tom. By the way one of those grandsons gained a BA (Hons) Degree in Photographic & Digital Art. Ron [uK]
  13. Thanks Maureen for the revised link. Enjoy your holiday. Tom, I enjoyed your "Fun with Five". It is neat sampler of some of the recent experiments in 5.0. Next week at Sutton Camera Club I have been scheduled as part of the evening programme to talk on "What is new in AV". I hope you don't mind if I include your two presentations as examples. Ron [uK]
  14. I am mystified by this thread, Tom. I have seen "Autumn Leaves" before and as Bill says the link for "Fun with 5" brings up "Autumn Leaves" again on Dom's site. Ron [uK]
  15. How can you say that it is not a serious AV, Peter? Ron [uK]
  16. Igor If you go to the Links page on my website and download Sutton Camera Club AV Intro by clicking on the thumbnail of the Club logo bottom left, you will have a folder which includes the use of 4.48 Objects. There are member portraits around the logo and if the hand appears over some of them when you use the mouse a sequence will open up on a click. Hope that is understood. Ron [uK]
  17. I am pre Rock 'n Roll and Rap. I am from the Big Band era. I cannot put my mind to rolling balls or cubes at the moment, but I will I hope. The only cubes I am using at the moment are OXO to keep up my strength. However, I am observing the developments with much enjoyment. Ron [uK]
  18. That was a very good representation, Keith, of the Barnes Wallis bouncing bomb and should give Tom some encouragement. Ron [uK]
  19. My "HMS Gloucester" sequence showed a Spitfire flying across the screen but they didn't carry bombs Sorry Tom - being facetious. Having seen the "Volcano" sequence it is obvious that it can be done and I wish you luck with your answers. Ron [uK}
  20. Paul I downloaded the sequence first thing this morning, before breakfast. I didn't like to comment because at that time you had not asked. Now that you have I can say that I thought it was great in the way that you demonstrated with some excellent photography how each piece of the fountain was restored. Ken has asked "did you supply the labour". Am I right in thinking that from a previous thread or a website that stone masonry is your line of business? Thanks I really enjoyed your sequence, which should form the basis of a good promotional tool. Ron [uK]
  21. I don't know what I am looking for but the link worked on my system and the snow fell within the dome. Best wishes, Ron [uK]
  22. Thanks Igor. Read and fully understood and appreciated. Ron [uK]
  23. I think Maureen has written a well worded piece on this subject, with which I agree. It is important that members of the forum help to develop the software as they are doing and for others to choose how and when to use those developments for their own particular preferences. Presentation is very important to me and, like Maureen, I will use them in my introductory sequences and the occasional zoom and pan within a sequence. Don't worry Patrick, look at the time when the extra number of effects were introduced, we don't see many now with them being widely used, but thanks you were right to air your concerns I call my sequences "Images with Sound". I ate my words yesterday at a show I was giving, my Windows Media Player decided to object and I showed my sequences in dead silence apart from the occasional cough, ripple of laughter and sympathetic applause. The fan heaters did switch on at one point when water was cascading down in a sequence and I thought the sound had sparked into life. When I got home I used System Restore and all is apparently well again. Ron [uK]
  24. Thanks Morasoft for your extra link. I looked for it on Beechbrook last evening but it wasn't there then. As Ken indicates that was a masterpiece. I am giving an AV show in 3 hours time and it will seem mediocre in comparison. Well done. Ron [uK]
  25. Use "Comment" Tom, it is easier to spell than "Criticism". Ron [uK}
