  1. Regarding toolbars, I have noticed the same effect as described by Jill (in several beta versions and in 10.0).
  2. I totally agree! People stick to some overpriced, old-fashioned products which they are used to. It's difficult to promote PTE, but I try to do my best
  3. The Website's link to the Online Help points to version 10, while the Forum's link to the Online Help points to version 9.
  4. This function actually works. In order to see the effect of covering the screen you should follow Dave's advice and set the zoom to 100%
  5. Project Options > Defaults ; tick "Cover"
  6. It seems to happen when topics have been moved
  7. I regard styles as kind of macros. You enter a few images in order to apply the macro (style), similar to an action in Photoshop. IMO, removing does not make sense. You can only delete the result of the application.
  8. There are various ways to use the dir-command to write the contents of a folder into a text file.
  9. You may insert the audio clip into a particular slide as a video: - Open PTE, insert a blank slide with the duration of your audio clip - In the timeline (or using Project Options): Import the audio clip - Export this "show" as an AVI of size 16x9 pixels - Import the AVI into the particular slide of your manually controlled show (with continuous sound in the background) - Put the video at a position outside the screen - The audio clip will start together with your slide
  10. I would recommend a simple version management. Whenever you save some changes, save the project a second time using a new name (counting up a number as part of the project name). Then continue working with the new version.
  11. Maybe you have used absolute paths to the media. If the paths on the laptop are different, the run commands will not work. In this situation, I normally use relative paths.
  12. “Scale keyframes in objects on time change” is a slide option, not a project option. The entry in the preferences is just a default option for new slides.
  13. It does not matter that much. So I keep on using this feature "illegally", as I did it in the past.
  14. 1. When I link an audio clip to a slide, the clip will show the slide number. In the dark mode this number is shown in blue, and I regard it as difficult to see. 2. As with version 9, I really cannot understand why also V10 does not allow (in the timeline) to link 2 or more clips to the same slide if the clips are located on the same track. It can be done, but only via the project options. IMO this restriction does not make any sense. I often have slides with several associated sounds or voice clips, why not placing them on the same track?
  15. My impression is that these features will not be included in V10, and as we see here users seem to be happy with the new version (as it is).
  16. Maybe it is hidden by the list of objects, and you may use a scroll bar, or reduce the area for the objects.
  18. I don't see much improvement. My notebook still behaves as described here (fully updated version of Windows 10, Nvidia 419.35). My impression: The performance of PTE shows on the notebook's own monitor while using the Nvidia driver is poor.
  19. An alternative way to go: Create a "Backup in Zip". Unzip the backup to a new folder. In most cases this folder contains what you want to see. There may arise problems in cases where the images come from different folders, and if these folders contain objects with identical names.
  20. Move the mouse cursor until you see a double arrow. Press the left mouse key and change the height of the object list.
  21. I'm sorry to say, but PTE does not offer Addition (nor do most of the other AV programs). It would be fine if PTE would offer Addition, and it would even be better if there were the blending mode "Screen" (in German "Negativ multiplizieren") that we know from Photoshop. Addition and Screen offer possibilities to create screen effects (to some extend) that we can see when blending classical slides (diapositives).
  22. Do you think that the discussion will come back to the original topic of name change?
  23. Not seeing risks with EXE files is a very personal point of view. I cannot share this opinion. Today, people rather make use of mobile devices than using PCs. If you want to share your PTE productions with others, you should better make use of videos. So I would regard a product name including EXE as outdated. As I said above, I would prefer to keep the letters PTE while replacing EXE by something else
  24. Perhaps a good suggestion. We have to keep in mind that (at least in Germany) "Ex" can mean "my former husband"
