Igor I have mentioned a couple of these thoughts before, but practical and extensive use of PTE over the past few days has reminded me of those suggestions. I am aware that ideas often get buried in the work around suggestions so I don't require any response here. I just offer them as ideas only 1. Audio Track Height. I am a graphic tablet user and already I am getting tired of having to go to Settings > Preferences > Timeline > Audio Track Height to make the adjustments I want. Then of course back again to return it to normal. I would really like a right click > Select Track Height, or a key stroke. 2. Fade Curve. I find the straight linear fade often in need of adjustment to bias the fade towards the beginning or end of that fade. It means I have to go through the above sequence to do that, but I would like a way to create my own fade curve and save that as a preference. 3. Insert Silence. I still find myself wishing for the ability to add silence into a sound track in any place I highlight.

I think this may be what the topic "Tool to find links" is suggesting. If I move my original images in a project around, then PTE is good about showing me the images are missing, but there is no quick and easy way to simply reset the DIR path to where the files have been moved. The work around is costly. Bring up the Object > Properties and edit the path manually or "browse" one at a time. This should be a very easy feature to impliment - As always, thanks for a great product - R

Could it be possible to have a field in the project options window where the name of the project can be filled in or changed? If a project is in progress, you can change the name easily if you want. Best regards, Luc M

Igor I have been putting together a slide show where I have 75 sound files. There are two sound effects, one music track and the remainder are small sections of commentary (72 in all). I also have almost 80 images. I reached a point where I wanted to change my opening titles and add a couple of pictures, but then I found I could not move all the sound comments to the right, in the same way I can with the images in the time line. In an ideal world, I would have liked to have had the same options with those sound files within the Time Line as I do with the images. Meaning I can click an image thumbnail move it to the right and all the images to the right of the clicked one will move too. If I just click and drag the blue flag I can can move just one thumbnail independently of all the others. Could sound be made to be as flexible as that? I have never had quite so many sound files before in a slide show and I was looking for a way to select all sound files, even those in different tracks and to be able to move the lot. I appreciate the option to link a sound comment to a slide, but in this situation it would have been just as time consuming to do that, as fix the issue manually. As the production continued and creative ideas and tweaks came to me, I would have liked this option on a few occasions. The reason I had so many sound files is that I cannot add silence between an already recorded sound comment. (unless I use an external editor) The only option is to split the sentences and create two and sometimes 3 sound comments when one would have been enough, if silence could be added. Actually, if I could have added silence in a sound rack, I would not have needed 72 sound comments, I could have achieved what I wanted with one.

Most new smart HDTVs support DLNA digital media player capability. It would be great if you could preview your slideshow inside the PTE editor to your HDTV via wireless. PTE would be the media server. Some cameras and media players have this capability. Suppose I have a basic slideshow where the slides consist of single photos (and/or videos). I want to put, as a simple example say, a thin coloured border round each one. There is no global setting for borders, so I would have to use Objects and Animation for each and every slide. I could create a slide style to define and apply a border, but this would change the duration of each slide and video clip to the value in the slide style definition, which would destroy the show. I would like to apply a slide style with, say, a tick box option to retain the original slide duration, so that is my request. It seems like a straightforward option to build in but who am I to judge!!!! Regards wideangle

I like the ability to manage audio tracks and clips within PTE. It makes the production much smoother and quicker if you don't have to go back and forth to a sound editor like Audacity. But sometimes it would be useful to strip out the whole audio in order to reduce noise, equalise, add effects, adjust stereo balance etc. As far as I can see this is not possible at present. After processing the audio content could be simply put back into the project, replacing the original. So my request is to be able to do that.

Greetings, When I want to add a border to all of the images in a show, I have to do it in O&A, image by image. It seems it would be more convenient if we could add a border to all the images if the same 'Adjust Image and Border' was available in Project Options/Default (with the ability to remove/adjust the results on any particular image by doing so in O&A) ). I know that the current 'Display shadow behind slide image' adds shadows, but I want a crisp border, not a shadow. Gary

Hello. Would it be possible under VideoConverter to extract the sound from a video and generate a .wav file, in order to trim it later under PTE ? I have a seen that the Flac format is performent and free. May be it would be better to extract the sound in flac format. Would it be possible to import in pte sonds in flac format, and of course convert them to .mp3 for the exe file ? Thank you in advance for your answears.

I hope I have not missed something that covers this already (if so, apologies) but here's my wish: I sometimes make mistakes in O&A when importing a new image - if I haven't taken care (don't say it) I may have an object selected when I import the new one, with the consequence that the new image appears as a child of the one accidentally left selected. It would be good to be able to change the status of the 'child' to correct this without deleting and then re-importing it. Similarly I might sometimes change my method for a particular bit of animation in some way, when the same kind of need arises. (The 'child' might have had quite a bit of work done to it, which I might not want to discard.) Any thoughts...?

PTE provides dynamic blur, that's fine. It has been called natural blur, with the consequence that the edges of a blurred image become transparent, This is a nice feature when dealing with images which do not cover the whole screen. When having images that just cover the screen, the given dynamic blur is awkward, because of the transparency. So you often have to work with appropriate objects in lower layers. It would fine to see a choice for dynamic blur: natural blur (as we have it now), and Photoshop-like blur where the edges remain opaque and keep their original straight shape. Remark: Please don't provide any workarounds! I am well aware of them. Regards, jt

PTE, in v8, allows us to create the following “customized” entities: Toolbar Profiles, Templates, Transitions and Slide Styles. Via Settings > Preferences > Templates we can nominate which folder PTE should use to store customized Templates and Slide Styles. I believe PTE should also allow the user to nominate which folder(s) to use to store customized Toolbar Profiles and Transitions. These options could be added to the Templates tab of Preferences and the tab could then be renamed to Folders. regards, Peter

Greetings, I would like to be able to add a border to a Mask. An example of this would be to be able to put a border (adjustable) around a Mask for an image that has been made smaller through the use of Zoom and I wanted to animate it within the borders of the Mask. Thanks... Gary

Today, the digital camcorders provided by world leader manufacturers are using h264 AVCHD and the videos are delivered under .mts or m2ts file extension. If we want to reuse this kind of video clips inside a PTE project we have to convert them again in order not to "optimize them" as PTE said but to ease PTE work and avoid jerky effects. The problem is that PTE converts them into an .avi file using a h263 coder whose performances are weaker than h264, and if, at the end of the PTE project we want to create an HD video, PTE will reconvert h263 into h264. In fact to simplify we have the following process : h264 AVCHD=> mpeg4 ASP h263 => h264 AVC We are cascading coding disagreements and lowering the signal/noise ratio of the video. For editing videos, it is quite difficult to avoid this cascading process but the result could depend on the data compression used by the intermediate coder. I promote PTE for slideshow and video editing but I still must use Adobe Premiere (CS5) for h264 AVCHD conversion into an Mpeg2 High@High profile / GOP N=3 whose quality should be better than Mpeg4 Advanced Simple@L1 profile (h263) provided by PTE converter. Should it be possible that PTE provides a video conversion which minimizes the cascading coding noise effects even if the resulting ("optimized") video file size is bigger (less data compression) than the original one? I'm hoping some of the following are not too late to make it into the next edition: I keep thinking it would be handy to have a marker on the timeline in O&A which I could set (maybe more than one) which doesn’t do anything except sit there without moving, as an aid to synchronising different bits of animation. At the moment I do it using the figures in the blue boxes associated with the keypoints, but static markers which could be placed and then removed as required would be a real help – quicker and more intuitive.... Could filenames which have had only ‘subsidiary’ use (i.e. in Objects and Animations) also be shown in bold, or better still apply some other distinguishing feature such as a different colour, or show in italics, or both. Ideally two different typographical characteristics could show when it has been used in both situations – ‘main’ and ‘subsidiary’. (I think I have offered this before, and I believe others have made similar suggestions, so... “Pretty Please” Igor!). Could we have a facility for moving all the sound files ‘en bloc’. As an example of the need, I have nearly finished a very complex sequence, but have not put a sufficiently long black frame at the start. If I want to increase its length I have to shuffle all the sound files along, in all the different tracks, each independently of the other. This could easily cause problems with some of the quite critical bits of sound that have been very precisely synchronised with a particular image or animation. Again I think this has been suggested already, but I’d like to add my voice. Files with long names, especially sound files can look very much alike, as they are truncated when the icon size is small. Peter Appleton (pers. comm.) has reminded me that the full path of the currently highlighted file appears at the bottom of the screen, but could the filename be made a bit more conspicuous please – I’ve been using PTE for years, and failed to notice it! (Yes... okay! Don’t say it!)

1. Make a right click option on any slide at any location (PTE explorer or slide list or lightbox view) to go to Windows Explorer file location with file selected. 2. When there are missing slides/videos/music and a "missed images" dialog box pops up, provide an option to remove such files at that moment from the dialog box. 3. Only allow one instance of a specific PTE file to be opened at once--or provide a warning asking if more than one instance is desired. Many times I have inadvertently had more than one instance of the same file open and then saved an older version over the top of a new version, losing all my work. 4. Hot Key changes: CTR+U & CTR+B are very commonly used, but stretch my fingers too far for fast work and I sometimes miss. Change to CTR+ something nearby the CTR key.Add a hotkey for slidestyle5. Just like there is an arrow to move back and forth among slides in to O/A window, make a way to do the same thing from the slide options window. 6. In O/A window, allow simultaneous Properties/Common/Animation changes to multiple selected objects. 7. In O/A when adding a border, I would like to be able to click on "Width" or "Color" and "Enable border" would automatically be checked and Width/Color would be activated. There is not likely a case that I click on Width or Color and don't want something to actually happen. 8. Add Border to a frame. 9. [deleted] 10. CTR + Click slide opens O/A Thanks, jk

One of the things I find difficult to re-produce in PTE is the weather, such as fog, snow & rain. I have one "fog" pre-set, that I used in my "Fog on the Tyne" show, it was an Elements/PS freebie from RedPaw media ( http://www.redpawmedia.ie/ ), whether it's still available I'm not sure. With video becoming more prevalent in AV where a set of images are on screen longer, being able to switch on & off a weather simulation would be great. I know others regularly show weather demos, but in my opinion, the ability to just switch one on & off as opposed to spending hours trawling through the actions needed to re-create an effect would be an asset. Greetings, I would like to have a 'Rectangle with a Window' object added to the O&A menu items. I'd like this object to have handles, not only on the outside, but also on the inside window so that the inside and outside edges are fully adjustable, and this window can be colored and have its Order changeable. I added a crude example in an attachment. The red window represents the 'Rectangle with a Window' with handles. I am sure this can be created in Photoshop, etc., but I think it would be very useful to have it built-in to the O&A menu with its full adjustabililty within PTE. Gary

Greetings, It seems that many 'Suggestions for Next Versions' have been made, but few get a direct response from Igor and his team. I have assumed or hoped that Igor takes note of them and perhaps they are addressed. But we really don't know. There are many suggestions that I thought were good but they seem to fall into a black hole. There is no indication that they have been read or dismissed or planned to be incorporated into PTE. Then, today, I happened to read Igor's Pinned Readme posting. It says "I'll comment every topic (in field which located below title of a topic) with remarks: "Done: v5.10", "Scheduled for v5.10", "Declined", "Maybe in v5.20", etc." It would really be nice to get some feedback like this, but I don't see any of the suggestions that have received these types of comments from Igor. Wouldn't it be nice to get this type of feedback? Gary

omissis...if next version Pte (8.5, 9.0?) has, for example a "tool" similar Oak software, if other track of images (at time more sounds is possible but only track at time in use for video and still, I think same problem wrote Peter old site moderator) and if above all interface is redesigned because Pte, at time obviously, is pretty ridicule and not great as other editor for professional slideshow.
