Thanks Igor will do asap. DG

Gary, Did you manage to try out the aw100 yet? DG

3D Turnover.zip 3D Turnover2.zip Please try? DG Apologies - I did not use "Pack Resources...":rolleyes:/>/>/> Try again?

It was "The Claw" that I was thinking of! Very relaxing.B)/>. There's LOTS of Jerry with and without Chet on YouTube that is worth watching even though the quality is not always good. I reckon that Jerry was one of Tommy's main influences, along with Chet, Merle and host of others. Stealing off more than one is OK - imitating one picker is foolishness. DG

Not really a suggestion - more of an observation. The GoPro aspect caught my eye and I thought about Gary. There's always more ways.............. But I take your point about Mac vs PC. DG

I followed the links above and it let me (eventually) to: http://www.fcp.co/motion/tutorials-for-apple-motion/127-who-needs-twixtor-to-do-100fps-when-you-have-apples-motion Might be of interest to Gary - GoPro content. DG

Gary, I can't speak for your camera but the S9100 operates as follows. If you take a 10 second clip at 30fps the resulting file is just that. The same 10 second clip at 60fps results in a 20 second file (at 30 fps). The same 10 second clip at 120fps results in a 40 second file ( at 30fps). The number of frames increases and is spread over a longer time hence the slo mo. The S9100 compensates by decreasing the resolution with the increase in fps. Maybe the GoPro maintains the HD resolution thus resulting in higher file sizes??? Whatever frame setting you select in-camera the resulting file plays at 30fps. DG

Gary, I had a similar problem with a file from an older Compact Camera. I sent Igor a (short) sample and he fixed it in a day or so. DG

Hi Gary, Why do you need to process it? Will it not go straight into PTE (perhaps with Converting it?). You shoot it at 120 and the camera turns it into a 30fps slow motion file - it should not need processing. What is the format of the unprocessed file? Please see your PM? DG P.S. The AW100 will be (almost) idebtical to the S9100 in terms of what it produces.

Gary, In answer to the original question: If you shoot at 60 or 120 (or even 240) in-camera then the resulting video is always 29fps (in my case). The resolution is reduced in each case (120fps = 640x480). My Nikon S9100 outputs MOV/H.264 and I shot the file I am currently using in Black and White and 120 and 60fps versions. The 60fps turned out to be the one I used but both played equally well when inputted into PTE without conversion. I could upload a converted and cropped version to Dropbox for you if it will help. DG
-
Gary, The Nikon shoots 120fps at 640x480. Maybe that,s it? Too late to do anything now - I will check in morning. However "it works for me" and I am using the video in a 1920 wide project at 640x480. DG
-
If you shoot it at 120 and then put it into PTE it will play at 30. At least that's what happens with my little Nikon and PTE - without any other software in between. I am using 120 video in my current project. Have you tried it? DG

Tommy Emanuel plays Arthur Smith - although I doubt that Arthur Smith would recognise it!! Nicely done Lin - something more relaxing next time? Some Jerry Reed perhaps? DG

Thanks Tom, As I said above, I do not think it is possible to make a downloadable Custom Transition of this effect using the current utility. To replicate the Slicebox effect the image needs to be less than full frame and the Custom Transition Utility needs to work on the whole slide rather than the image. An external editor is therefore required to make the png files that have been used here. I have tried both masks and, at Igor's suggestion, the Canvas method. Neither works satisfactorily. DG

Tom, This is about as close as I can get to the SliceBox Version: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/70942558/SliceboxSim.zip DG

This might help: The audio from clip one is added at time zero. The audio from Clip two is added with its offset at the beginning of the transition between Clip one and clip two. Fade in and out is set to be the same as the Clip Transition times. If you have a title slide before Audio Clip One then obviously all Video Clip Audio Files will be offset by a further time equal to the Title Slide Duration. The timings to 1/1000 of a second are necessary to maintain lip sync. Use the Audio Files from the individual Clips. DG
-
If I were you I would add the Audio in the Project Options>Audio Tab rather than where you are adding them now. You will then be able to see everything in one place. It is then essential that the Audio is OFFSET to the exact same amount as the video clip to which it belongs. If your video clip starts at 2:31.975 - that's your offset for its Audio. Also, if you are converting and cropping clips make sure that you are adding the audio from the Converted version. Audio Comments added the way that you have done do not show - I'm afraid I don't use them so I will have to bow out now? Try the Project Options>Audio Tab? DG
-
Fade in etc will not show in timeline until next version.Attach screen shot of the customise screen showing offset, fade in etc? DG
-
Do you have the correct offsets for the second, third etc clips? No attachment. DG

Hi Eric, That's exactly the kind of answer that caused me to withdraw from offering you any assistance once before. My reply was not meant to be anything other than helpful. So, once again Eric, you are on your own as far as I am concerned. DG.

Hi Tom, We have to acknowledge that a lot of work was put into slices by some very capable workers long before the advent of Custom Transitions. Your link to SliceBox inspired me to try to obtain the SliceBox effect with Custom Transitions and to a degree it is possible. However, I am now of the opinion that to FULLY implement the effect would required some basic changes in the way Custom Transitions work. They would need to be IMAGE based and not SLIDE based. I have got as close as I think it is possible to get to that effect by doing the slicing outside of PTE and building a transitional slide (my last PM). One of the problems is that to get the total effect of SliceBox the images being sliced need to be smaller than project size and this creates the Slide versus Image anomaly. The other problem which Igor suggested that we work on is the Masks versus Canvas approach. The two methods produce very different results and it appears to me that the canvas method would need to produce something like a PNG file to avoid exaggerated perspective problems. Regarding "Brookings" above - the text element works fine in the Horizontal Slices but not so well in the Vertical Slices?? DG

Eric, This was fully discussed when Igor introduced the "Safe Executable File for Internet" and as much as hate to repeat this, I have to. If you were part of the development of 7.5 you would be fully aware of the things that you are finding problematic. To answer your specific question, when creating a Menu which calls up (Safe) Executables you link to the exe file within the folder. You always keep the extracted folder intact and do not remove the two files from their folder. You don't put the two files in separate folders. Kid's stuff - not rocket science. Try it? DG

Eric, Barry was correct in all that he said regarding "Extract All" and "New Compressed Folder" in Windows Explorer. You were to blame for installing completely unnecessary software. Some will argue that WinZip and others do a better job but they have obviously let you down when sticking with the Windows option has never failed anyone. IT IS YOU!!/> DG
