I get that message when opening 4.49. I just click on OK and the programme opens. I get that message if I try to open a V5 or later PTE project - it then will not open the project. You need to install 5.6 and then you will be able to open ANY project. DaveG

You no longer have the "Original Mode" option and your images are "Fit To Screen" - (O&A / Common). DaveG

It is there in 5.6RC in FULLSCREEN mode but not in WINDOWED MODE. Which version are you looking at? DaveG

Thanks Ken. In spite of what you say we keep getting people with problems with reg keys. It must make sense if all of the different tutes were brought together under one umbrella article that we could point to when people are faced with these difficulties. DaveG

In view of the problems which keep cropping up would you consider updating the FAQ to take each into account? From what I have read recently with numerous people having lost / mislaid or can't find their Registration Keys it seems to have been sent out by WNSOFT in more than one format? This has resulted in different advice from different people when the question arises: "How do I find my Registration Key" or "How do I register my software"? My experience was this: I believe that WNSOFT sent mine in the form of a "reg.txt" file. (It was a loooong time ago!). The advice I was given at that time (for a NEW installation) was to put the "reg.txt" file in the folder that PTE created in Programme Files. Then, when asked for the key to authorise a NEW installation, all I had to do was point PTE in the direction of the folder containing the "reg.txt" and the rest was done for me - SIMPLE! I have done this three times with new computers using the same methodology each and every time with no problems. During this process and the transfer of the "reg.txt" from computer to computer my key can be found in many locations on each of the three computers. NOW, the question is this - did your experience of receiving the registration key differ from mine? If so, how did it differ? Did it arrive as a "reg.txt" or something different? DaveG

I think (I could be wrong) that she had to format her hard drive which POSSIBLY means that she lost everything stored on the hard drive. If, like me, she uses OUTLOOK then the emails were stored on the hard drive which she lost. Once they are downloaded by Outlook they no longer exist anywhere else (in my case). This is why I mentioned that programmes and programmes alone should be stored on the "c" drive and any data should be on a separate USB or internal hard drive. Outlook email files, should also be archived to a separate drive. That way if your "c" drive goes down for any reason your data is not lost. It also has the added benefit that it reduces clutter and makes for a more efficient, faster system which in any case SHOULD be cleaned up and defragged every week with a programme that gives smart placement as well as defragging to ensure that all of your free space is in one place (for a week). It would help them (perhaps) if they knew exactly when you upgraded - they need proof that you have actually paid for the upgrade. Are you using the same email address as you were when you bought the original and upgrade keys? DaveG

That's right - tell them you upgraded to Deluxe and needed that key also. DaveG

Yes, that's what I was trying to get to. The key needed for burning the DVD is the VideoBuilder_RegKey which you may or may not have previously upgraded to. If you did then you need Igor to send it again. If you did not then you need to upgrade. DaveG

Are you saying that it does nothing? Or does it do something and then still not work? One other thing to try: If you click on START you should see RUN as an option - try browsing to your "reg.reg" or "pte.reg" and run that? DaveG

If it does not "run" try what the tute suggests - rename it "reg.reg" or "pte.reg" and double click on it. DaveG

When they say "run it" they mean double click on it and follow any instructions. DaveG

OK - I don't recognise the PTE.TXT name but if you open it in notepad or similar does it contain a string of text possibly beginning with REGIT.......? There is an FAQ in the TUTORIALS section - have you looked there? http://www.picturestoexe.com/forums/index....amp;#entry56798 DaveG

I tried renaming a slide in the slide list (5.6RC) and it threw up the ERROR (it could not find the slide) - if I redirect in O&A all is well. I guess that's what you are refering to? DaveG

You still haven't said if you were sent a "reg.txt" OR a string of text in an e-mail OR a "VideoBuilder_Regkey". What exactly did they send you? DaveG

Daniel, I might be completely misunderstanding your question (!) but if you rename a slide in the slide list surely you would need to re-direct the path in O&A / Properties / Picture ??????? Renaming would only work BEFORE you add a slide to the project (I think!!). DaveG

There is probably nothing at all wrong with the key. If it was an attachment marked "reg.txt" all that you need to do is put it into the folder which PTE created in Program Files when you installed. When PTE asks for the key just point it toward the Program Files/PTE folder and it will recognise it - no need to open it. If it arrived with you as a string of text in an e-mail just open up "notepad" and copy/paste the text to the notepad document. Save as "reg.txt" and follow instructions as above. It is possible that WNSOFT sent a "VideoBuilder_RegKey" which is not what you require to get the basic programme running but what you need to upgrade the programme to the Deluxe version. Can you now be more specific about what you have and report back? This highlights the need to SAVE these sorts of things to a seperate drive where a fatal crash or recovery necessitated by a virus etc will not affect your most precious belongings. The "c" drive is for PROGRAMMES - everyone needs extra drives be they USB or internal for storage of DATA which keeps your keys and data safe and also keeps your "c" drive free from clutter and working a lot faster (you still need to clean up and defrag weekly). Tony, In recent side by side tests of a 1920x1080 Optima projector against the Canon 1400x1050 the results from the Canon were thought to be too bright/harsh/contrasty compared to the lower output from the Optima. The Optima was chosen. I can't see the point in using a 1366x768 projector - it allows for aspect ratios greater than 4:3 without loss of resolution but other than that is not a step up in any other way. "The same quality - but wider". There are members of this forum (other than Igor) who have been using 1920x1080 for some time - I would love to hear any comments they have? DaveG

If you are going to move up you have two choices: 1400x1050 OR 1920x1080 The higher resolution model will do everything that the lower resolution model will do BUT if you want to show aspect ratios up to 16:9 then the 1400x1050 puts you at something of a disadvantage. For instance a 16:9 show on the 1400x1050 is 1400x787/8 wheras a 16:9 show on the higher resolution is 1920x1080. Higher resolution images = more definition and better sharpness. For 4:3 shows there is not a lot of difference between them but for aspect ratios between 4:3 and 16:9 the 1920x1080 wins every time. You will need a computer/laptop with DVI/HDMI, a GOOD, dedicated graphics card and plenty of memory and graphics RAM. DaveG

Peter, I shoot exclusively in RAW and my workflow includes Nikon NX2 and Photoshop. I do not believe that it is irrelevant what colour space you shoot in if you shoot in RAW (it is included in the Metadata). If it were irrelevant the logical thing would be that the option to change from RGB to sRGB would not be available in the camera menu when RAW is set? I have never experienced any colour gradation problems when editing 16 Bit NEF files shot in sRGB and processed in sRGB throughout whether for PTE or for printing. Best wishes, DaveG
