Hi Thedom, Would you, or anyone, please explain, in simple terms, about PTE masks and their use? I have looked at the demos, with a colored section, moving across a black and white photo, and for the life of me, I can't comprehend why I would ever want to do that. I looked at your beautiful demo above, and it looks like a frame to me. Please, I'm sure, that I'm not alone in this confusion, a video tutorial, would even be better. 1. What is a mask? 2. What does a mask do? 3. Why would anyone use a mask? 4. Where does one get a mask? 5. Do you create a mask in Photoshop? 6. Can you create a mask in PTE? 7. Is there a difference when created in PS, or PTE? 8. What is a mask container? 9. How does one get a mask into the container? 10. Would you use more than one mask in the container? 11. What color is a mask? 12. what size is a mask? 13. Is a mask a PNG, jpeg, or something mystical? 14. Does the mask get used for the entire slideshow? 15. Can one import a mask from someone else? 16. Does one use a mask in a full screen show? Please, this is for everyone that uses and understands masks, we need your help, to better make use of this great program, please share your expertise. Many thanks and best regards, Gayland.

Hi PTE friends, I created a screensaver, out of curiosity, and now, I don't know how to use it. I have never used this feature of PTE before, and was just interested in trying it. How do I get Windows XP to recognise and use it? This is, I'm sure, a simple and stupid question. Thanks for your interest, Gayland.

Hi DaveOR, one of the forum members suggested Iconoid, this little program will hide all the icons on your desktop. I used it the other day, I had lost the photo, that I use as my desktop wallpaper, so I turned Iconoid on, and captured the desktop photo, for future use. I hope this helps, Gayland.

Hi Mike, you can use a program named PhotoFiltre, and go to Filter > Deform > Ripple, and adjust effect that you want. The older version was free, but the new version isn't, but maybe the older version is still avalable somewhere. Hope this helps, regards, Gayland

Hi Nobeefstu, thank you. Your response as well as Wideangle's is exactly what makes this forum so fantastic. Everyone goes out of their way to help folks such as myself. Thanks a million to everyone, Gayland.

Hi Wideangle, thank you...the older I get the more stupid I get. I just didn't get the connection, I assume then, that my old shows that are EXE's without the old project files, cannot be burned to DVD? Thanks again for all the help, Gayland.

Ken, the 8 EXE's that I have created, are all laid out on my desktop, and VB does not recognize them. I can open VB, and the explorer pane doesen't see them. All the other photos, shortcuts, etc are there, but no slideshows. This doesen't make good sense, VB should recognize the shows created with it's host program. I think I'll give up, and take a nap. Thanks for your help, Gayland.

Hi Ken, yes I tried draging, I get an "X" as I drag. Thanks for your response, Gayland.

I have eight small PTE EXE slideshows, that I want to burn to DVD for TV. I open VB and try to import my shows. These shows are all in one folder named PTE shows, when I click on this folder, in the explorer, the folder goes to VB, I then click on this folder, and it jumps back into explorer. The next thing I tried, was to remove the shows from the folder, and place them on the desktop, and try to import from there, the explorer doesen't even see them. I must say, I can drill down in the folders, where I have all the edited and resized photos, music etc, and bring the EXE into VB, and then burn it. I have everything on an 8 gig flashdrive, so I can switch between my PC and my notebook, I moved a copy of my shows to the desktop, thinking this might solve the problem, to no avail. Then I moved the shows out of the folder, and placed them on the desktop, no difference. I can build and create an EXE slideshow in PTE and immediately open VB and burn this to DVD, why can't I burn shows already created as EXE? I am a registered user of PTE Deluxe, using 5.6 beta 20. I have Lin's CD of tutorials, and have checked the online tutorials as well. Any help would be appreciated, Gayland XP Pro 32 bit service pack 2 AMD Athlon 64x2 dual core processor 3800 Nvidia GeForce 6100 256 MB ram Direct X 9.0 Memory 2,560 MB

Hi Barry, the term snowbird, used here in Texas, refers to someone that lives in a cold climate ie, Michigan, and spends the winter in our warm South Texas area. (usually in RV's,and there are thousands of them) They migrate back home, when the weather warms up. I hope your new life goes well, Gayland.

Hi Yachtsman, does the mask need to be a PNG made in photoshop or other editor? This fantastic little program is getting way beyond my comprehention. Someone help us, less talented, to grasp this mask stuff. Best regards, Gayland

Gerard, build your show the way you want it, go to file > templates > create template from this show. The next time you want a show with these parameters, open your template, and substitute the old photos with your new photos. If this is not totally correct someone will follow up, I'm sure. Best regards, Gayland
