Good Luck in your quest Barry, I keep reverting back to my Nikon software,DXO and Photoshop. My recent computer has an SSD for the operating system and one for the Lightroom and Photoshop cache. Lots of ram (36gb), 64 bit windows 7, but I still have similar issues. Kieron

Hello Dave, I know what you mean about the 100% view and most people find it strange that it was not addressed in the latest firmware. The great thing about the files is the ability to crop into the frame. I purchased Thom Hogan`s manual for the D800 and find it has more information than the one supplied by Nikon and may do the same for the D600. Coming from the D700 you will feel right at home. Hello Dave, I purchased the D600 as a backup for the D800 when travelling. The fact that it uses the same battery and many of the same controls was a bonus. Personally I don`t think you can go wrong with this camera once you see the files it produces. Amazing image quality! DXOMark rated this camera as the 3rd highest ever, among all tested cameras–just behind the D800 and D800e for overall sensor quality (based on color depth, dynamic range, and low-light performance). Very low noise at high ISOs. (but has slightly more noise than D800 & D3s) I have heard rumours that the issues with dust and oil spots seems to be improved with the newer productions. I have to clean mine quite often compared to the D800. I prefer to use a dedicated AF-ON button rather than using a shutter half-press to lock focus. The D600 doesn’t have the AF-ON button, only the AE-L/AF-L. You can re-program that button. Auto Exposure Bracketing (AEB) is limited to 3 frames and +/- up to 3 f-stops on the D600. Depending on which lens is on the D600 or the D800 in my bag is the one I reach for as both produce excellent quality. Take care, Kieron

When I travel I now use the D800 and the D600 ( they use the same batteries) You will love the resolution that is obtainable that allows cropping into the frame. If you shoot hand-held, the one piece of advice that I can give is to use lenses with VR when possible, and also a high shutter speed... 2X or 3 X the reciprocal of the focal length, not the 1/focal length of olden days! The new camera should come with the latest firmware A:1.01 / B:1.02 for the D800. It made an improvement in focusing especially incandescent light. In Thailand recently shooting traditional dancers putting on their make-up. Some were out of focus, recent testing seems to confirm that this issue has been resolved. You will need some of Nikon`s finest lenses to get the most out of the D800. Good luck with your choice, I am sure you will enjoy it. Kieron

Hello Barry, Most of the camera clubs in this part of the world are using the Canon LCOS technology. No screendoor effect from LCD and no rainbows that some people may see with DLP technology. Thanks for this, I missed the update. I use both the H4N and the H1 and really like the H1 for travel. The door to access the micro SD card is quite flimsy, mine fell off opening it for the first time. Kieron

When I first started with this fine product I must say I found it a little overwhelming. The basics were fine but I wanted to learn the complexities of the program. Fortunately people like Barry alerted me to their tutorials through this forum. I find his products first class and revert to them often. I also discovered the Dom here and have purchased several of his wonderful templates. Along with Lin who has a wealth of knowledge and his tutorials helped me through the difficulties I was having. I appreciate all the help I have received, either free or purchased. I would not have known about any of these products without being on the forum. Just my two cents, Kieron

I have just returned from a trip and have had the pleasure of experimenting with beta 7. I have stated in the past how getting the right sharpening for projection vs showing on a monitor was a problem for me. I just loaded a project that I have been working on that is an hour in duration made in version 6.5. I had a few transitions that still demonstrated the dreaded moire effect and I reduced the sharpening trying to minimize it. In version 7 it has been eliminated and the feature of sharper/smoother is a vast improvement. I can`t say enough about the ability to adjust the unsharp mask except to say thank you Igor and team. Now to play with the video, and Christmas is still 8 months away Kieron
