  1. JT, I can only speak for myself. I do not consider you to be an ENEMY. However, following your arguments can sometimes be tortuous to say the least!! See Post #10 DG
  2. Clicking OK is accepting whatever settings are present on the screen for ALL of the highlighted slides. The Slide Options can only apply one Slide Duration, one Transition Type and one Transition Time. If you want to select multiple slides then you accept that all of those settings apply to all of the slides. Having tick boxes to disregard all of those settings and just change the one setting would satisfy your requirements. DG P.S. As Peter said, these things sometimes need to be brought to the user's attention. I will make a note of this in the Online Help File.
  3. Open the .pte file in NOTEPAD. Open Notepad. File > Open change file type dropdown to All Files. DG
  4. Stu, After further checking......yes I was looking at the original File Lists This is all to do with the discussion on File List Association isn't it? Opening the .pte file in the Extracted BIZ does not automatically associate with the "new" folder. What now happens if you transfer the BIZ to a different drive? Same thing. DG
  5. Just to clarify: Are we talking about multi image or just one image? Are we talking about applying random styles to random multiple images. The replies here don't seem to fit with the OP. DG
  6. Stu, I think that you are right about the File Lists. I just did a quick check to answer Fuzzy. After creating the Template or BIZ there is probably a specific way to open the project which addresses the correct file list. DG
  7. Fuzzy, I checked this out. Only a TEMPLATE will disregard non-used files. But when the PTE is opened from the Template copy none of the images are in BOLD. They should ALL be BOLD? A Backup to Zip seems to backup even the unused files - strange - further research required. Neither solution is 100% acceptable, but the Template is as close to what you require as it is possible to get. (Apparently??). DG
  8. If you save the Project as Backup in ZIP (or Template) only the used images are transferred to the ZIP file. I am not sure if the Bold Text is maintained but at least you only have the USED Images and Audio etc in a single folder. DG
  9. Surely it is already possible to add the same long narrative file to a track 45 times and select the appropriate portion as required? Each portion can then be moved relative to the next and previous portions. I think the op has a point though - we can cut video but not sound. DG
  10. Backup in ZIP? DG

  12. No, I tried stepping back and forth - no go! I'll try Ctrl+W next time. DG
  13. I add an image to the slide list. Later I decide to edit the image in my RAW Converter and make a substantial change to the image. I save the Image to my original Project folder and run the sequence. The changes to the Image are recognised by the Preview and in a Published EXE but in the Slide List the original un-edited image is shown until I close PTE and re-open the Project. I seem to remember that this "problem" occured before - was it not cured or has it cropped up again? DG
  14. Barry, I vaguely remember that conversation - and Power2Go continues to work well but as I said above, the free version is limited in what it will do compared to its more powerful paid for Pro version or Roxio. I often have difficulties with the limitations and have to resort to the method described above using Roxio on a Laptop. It only happens with music files but the point I was making was that Roxio handles these files OK. I think that I will probably look for a bargain version of Roxio. I don't need the latest and greatest. DG
  15. Bert, In my case (on an XP PC) I originally had a Wireless Mouse and Keyboard which were not active when the Boot Disc (Memory Key) was used. I had to use a USB Wired Mouse during the Restore. I now use Wired Mice and Keyboards exclusively. DG
  16. Do you need to make the decision now? Wait to see what comes with your OS. I have used the software which came with W7 (Cybernet Power 2 Go) until now but it has restrictions which Roxio handles with ease. I sometimes have to transfer a USB HDD from my Desktop to my Laptop to burn something. If I need to instal something better I will go with Roxio. DG
  17. I might try that but it means starting fresh. I have mail and contacts going back 15 years. Establishing that network on a new system might be difficult (time consuming) but it is definitely worth looking at. ................................................................................................................................................................... Also, I like the idea of a single drive for PTE and Images. I have Drives for Images and Music but I have haven't thought of combining PTE Projects with the Images Drive. Plenty to think about. DG
  18. Peter, I created 2 Folders and put a different image in each. I created two Projects using these folders and the images contained in them. Now, when I open Project 2 it opens Folder 2 and when I open Project 1 it opens Folder 1. I'm not sure what the problem is but it is not PTE. I'll keep looking. DG
  19. OK, Thanks for clarifying. BTW, as I said above, I am seeing this on a Vista Laptop and a W7 Desktop.
  20. No, I had to go with whatever was available. For some reason (it's a long time ago) the XP machine didn't look at the CD Drive but it looked at the USB drive. I just wanted to prove that if I had a catastrophic failure the system would work. .....and Barry kept pestering me to prove that it worked. If you have a working drive and just want to restore you don't need the Boot Disc - you just open the software and Restore. The Boot Disc is for catastrophic failure. I have always tried to keep ALL temporary files etc well away from the C drive. If there is an option to save Temporary or Cache files on a different drive I always take that option. It keeps the C drive as clean as possible between Images. The one thing that has eluded me so far is my Outlook Files.
  21. Lin, Think of it this way. I have a 1TB HDD solely for Images which are named by date. I keep adding Images at regular intervals until the 1TB is full. At that stage I delete the oldest image(s) before adding the newest. If I have a virus/malware problem I would go back until I find a virus/malware free Image. When I first started using Macrium I was able to create a Boot Disc for the Laptop but my XP machine refused to boot from the one I made for it. After two e-mails to Macrium he/they suggested that I use a USB Memory Key for the XP machine. Problem solved. DG
  22. Peter, I can see some sense in what you are suggesting. The folders and .pte projects that I am trying to switch between have all been worked on recently and have not been moved. Is it possible, as I suggested to Igor, to take the File Tree out of the equation? Close it? I am opening a project and, without saving it, I am going to File / Open to open a different Project. But the File List does not change. DG
  23. Gary, I think that you echo the opinion of most people here? Which software you use is down to Personal Choice and where you live? I use a UK based company. Buy British!! DG
  24. Igor, Open PTE. Turn the File Tree Off? Open a Project via File / Open (Project A ) Do the File List Images change to the correct new images for Project A Folder? Open a Project via File / Open (Project B ) Do the File List Images change to the correct new images for Project B Folder? DG
  25. Why is it that a simple post about a recommended software to do a job always turns into a 5 page diatribe based on personal preferences? DG
