Cloning Your Hard Drive... Software Suggestion
davegee replied to Lin Evans's topic in Equipment & Software
Hi Barry, This is like Deju Vu all over again. It's like the Nikon vs Canon debate at the Camera Clubs. You and I had this discussion years ago. Drive failure is not the only reason to use Imaging software - problems with Registry, Viruses etc can all be very time consuming so restoring an image of your C drive to when it was working perfectly, which usually takes no more than about 30 minutes, is a "hands free" option and allows you to do something else, like go have a cup of tea or take some pictures, instead of using a screwdriver. A 1TB USB drive will hold sufficient Images of your C drive to go back ten or twelve iterations if required to get to a time when it was running smoothly. I am not one who likes to take the covers off a computer - if it can't be done without resorting to that then PC World does it for me. But using Imaging Software is just like installing a new programme. Each to his own - but I will go the "Stress Free Imaging" route . Best wishes, DG -
Not if you use either of the two options that I mentioned above. DG

If you have set "wait for key press" to give you the manual control then the slide duration means nothing. It is a reflection of the settings in Project Options which you have chosen to override. The other way of doing it is to set the maximum time possible for each slide in Project/Slide Options and then use the arrows to move forward/backward. Ignore it - it means nothing. DG

Click on the first slide, Shift Click on the last slide and use: Arrange Selected Slides in the Dropdown. http://docs.picturestoexe.com/en/main-window/the_timeline#other_controls_in_the_timeline_view DG

Cloning Your Hard Drive... Software Suggestion
davegee replied to Lin Evans's topic in Equipment & Software
Lin, The best terminology to use is IMAGE rather than CLONE. This type of software creates an IMAGE of your C drive which can be RESTORED if any problems occur. The image can be made at regular intervals, usually before adding new software so that if your computer gets "messed up" there is an easy way back. Nothing to do with Data Storage or Backup. Purely a C drive thing. That is why I advocate - NO DATA ON YOUR C DRIVE. DG -
Cloning Your Hard Drive... Software Suggestion

This is the only one I have used. http://www.macrium.com/ The product and after sales support are first class. DG -
Die Übersetzung Ihrer Antwort keinen Sinn macht. Bitte versuchen Sie es erneut und mehr erklären? DG

Thanks for the reminder Peter. It brought a much needed smile to my face once again! DG

It could be something to do with Colour Mode (RGB Colour) or Colour Space (sRGB) or both? I don't know Faststone - can you try a JPEG SOOC (Straight out of the camera) Convert to sRGB in Faststone and try that. You'll find a long discussion on Colour Space if you search here. I am not advocating sRGB - but it will determine whether colour space your problem. Also uploading a JPEG here will allow someone to analyse your problem a little better. DG

Try loading the first set into the slide list at one second and play the preview. Select all slides and gradually decrease the slide duration in slide options to where you get the effect you want. Publish a high quality avi or mp4 and add that to the slide list in a new project. http://docs.picturestoexe.com/en/techniques/addvid2#adding_a_picturestoexe_video_to_another_project If that is OK you then know the settings for set two. DG Ps if you are putting two of these on a 1920x1080 slide then your original images need be no more than around 960 wide and similarly the avi or mp4 need be no more than about 960 wide.
-
Hi Lin, The project would consist of a main project and two sub-projects. If kept separate then any tweaking could be done on either of the sub projects. If the mp4 overwrites the previous version then there would be little to do in the main project. DG
-
Please give us more detail? How many exposures? Interval between exposures? DG
-
Another possibility: Add set one to a project taking care over the resolution / aspect ratio. Adjust the times of the slides to what you require. Make an mp4 of set one. Do the same for set two. Add the set one and set two mp4 files side by side in a single slide. That sounds a little easier?? DG

Tom, I imagine that there are a LOT of slides and they would have to be arranged alternately before you start. That's a lot of work in itself. However your Style idea is easier than the O and A option. Drag set 1 slide 1 and set 2 slide 1 down - apply the style etc. It is still likely to be a LONG job!! I suppose you could make a style which would handle 20 or so at a time in the right order? DG
-
Add a Blank Slide to the slide list - Right Click menu. Go to Objects and Animation. Using the Add Image Icon - Top Left - add the two images and resize them to suit. You will have to do this for every slide - it is going to be a little tedious (dependiong on the number of slides in the Time Lapse). Alternatively, drag the "Left hand Side Images" into the Slide List - Click on first & Shift Click on last - drag. Then enter O&A resize the first bunch and add the second set (one at a time). There is only ONE Slide List but you can have multiple Audio Tracks. Hi Denis, What I was suggesting was that if an author posts his work on a site such as Slideshowclub he or she could reasonably assume that it will not be downloaded, converted into another format, possibly edited and then presented in a way that the original author had not intended. The quality of the conversion is unlikely to be of the same quality as the author originally intended but it would still bear his or her name. In those terms and without the permission of the original author I deem that to be Piracy. You seem to be suggesting that I am correct and that anyone can download anyone else's work and convert it into another format without the author's permission? I was also suggesting that WnSoft should think about whether it can prevent this kind of unauthorised copying. It might not be possible to protect EXE files from unauthorised conversion but this thread is informing those who want to do it where to go to get the software needed to do it. DG
-
Are we not on shaky ground here?? If this technology is available will it not allow anyone to copy anyone else's work, do a bit of editing and then present it as their own?? There is a feature in PicturesToExe to Disable the PrtSc Button - seems like a good reason to use it for each and every Project, although it is unlikely that this Pirating Software uses the PrtSc Button to initiate the process. If a suitable software is found to do this I, for one, will be asking Igor what he intends to do to prevent it? In fact, I would like to know Igor's views on this discussion!! DG

PicturesToExe is able to produce Oval and Rectangular Masks at the time of writing. It is, however, unable to produce a Rectangular Mask which can be distorted diagonally. To do this, it is necessary to create the Mask externally in the shape of a Diamond. The Diamond shaped mask can then be distorted to create Star Shaped Masks. Here's a Template which can be applied as a Style and demonstrates this: Stars.ptestyle Demo: Stars.zip Add a single image with a central subject to the Slide List in Cover Slide Mode and apply the Style. DG
-
Thanks for pointing that out Charles. You might also have noticed the the Mask Container is Square. In the first post I said: "Note that some adjustment of your chosen image might be required to fill the masks". Changing the image to Cover Slide after applying the Style usually does it. I see this as more of a guide to certain aspects of Masks than as a usable Style. "A Template dressed up as a Style". DG

Hi Frans, Explain a bit more? Time lapse is single frames is it not? How could PTE make time lapse photography easier? DG P.S. Could you start a new Thread?

All the time - since day 1. Just search on "adding the audio of a video clip" (with quotes). http://docs.picturestoexe.com/en/techniques/addvid2?s[]=mute#adding_the_audio_of_a_video_clip_to_an_audio_track DG
-
From the Online Help File: Adding the Audio of a Video Clip to an Audio Track The Audio of a Video Clip can be added to an Audio Track and the Envelope can then be applied to it. Add the Video Clip and then, in Objects and Animation/Properties Tab, Mute the Audio of the Video Clip..............DG
