I was sent some dramatic photos' of the Iceland volcano that erupted on 17 April by a friend. We all know what chaos the volcano caused to aviation in many parts of the world, but it also caused chaos and disruption on the island itself and to its people in the vicinity. Just thought I would share these fantastic photos' with you. Colin http://www.mediafire.com/?liqmu3zim2y (pc version) http://www.mediafire.com/?x0djijimlm2 (Mac version)

colin hill replied to colin hill's topic in Slideshows & AV Shows
John, I am glad that I could show some of the members what the stadia will look like and a bit about the cities and surrounding countryside. Hope you enjoy watching the games. Colin -
This presentation consists of 2 parts, both files being fairly small. Part 1 Consists of pictures from the roll out of the space shuttle to the launch pad, to take off and into space. 11.1mg, 5.27mins, 33 slides, 1024x768, 4:3 ratio, all ages Part 2 Consists of exquisite pictures taken in space, space walks, the International Space Station, and re-entry into the Earths atmosphere and the landing at the NASA base in Florida. 12.7mg, 4.46mins, 42 slides, 1024x768, 4:3 ratio, all ages I have made use of pan and zoom a lot to give the effect of movement. http://www.mediafire.com/?ae2mz1zmj2z (Part 1) http://www.mediafire.com/?fieqijjmoxt (Part 2)

FIFA 2010 World Cup cities and stadia

Thank you to those for watching this presentation and for the kind comments. It was one presentation that was put together on the spur of the moment. Ken, I am sure the visitors to the games will enjoy. I watched the winter olympics on TV, was spectacular. It will be winter here, so not much prospect of rain. Maureen, Thank you for your comments. I too am not much of a football fan. Rugby is my game. I will watch a lot of the games though. Daniel, I am so glad to have given you some insight into the cities and towns where the games will be staged and of course the various stadiums. I hope you will enjoy watching the games on tv. With 52 days left to kick off of the worlds greatest sporting event in my country, I thought I would quickly put this presentation together. My apologies for the file being so large and I know over 6 minutes in many peoples opinion may be a bit long. I have tried to show pictures of each of the host cities and the stadiums, each one of them unique in their architecture. Some may have already seen my presentation on the Moses Mabhida stadium in my city, so here are the rest. Colin http://www.mediafire.com/?mzaamlmlaz5

Davy, A very good presentation, enjoyed the music. Colin

Hi Maureen, Very good show. What I enjoy is that you have captured the life of the people and town and this is fantastic. I also enjoyed the vibrant colours of the buildings and flower boxes. Thank you very much. I too look forward to your next installment. Colin

Hi Andrew, An excellent production, I really enjoyed it. The 2WW was before my time, but recognize some posters. Thanks for sharing. Colin

Hi Mick, Thank you for your comments. I found that my pictures of red flowers which I took were well over-saturated and left them out. I was going to tone many down, but I suppose was lazy. Have a lot of wild birds in the garden and have been photographing them feeding etc. Enjoy your Easter weekend. Colin

Found your presentation to be very pleasant. I would love to visit the lake district. We will be making our 4th trip to the UK in August and would love to try and visit that area. I, personally am in favour of pan and zoom, though in my past presentations have been told they are too quick, which I agree. I found yours to be ok. I did like the frame throughout the A/V, very nice. I see you used the same Kevin Macleod music piece as I used in my recent A/V "My Little Garden". This is a very soothing piano piece. Well done and thanks for sharing. Colin

Hi Andrew, Thanks very much. This was my first attempt at macro photography and to test the new camera out. Still room for improvement. Colin

Hi Andrew, We all make mistakes. Anyway the sound was a minor point. Colin

Hi Andrew, A very good show. Excellent choice of music. Agree with Maureen, the music did end rather abruptly. Other than that, I enjoyed it. Thanks for sharing. Colin

It is amazing what one can find and discover by walking round the garden and taking a close look. We have a small garden which is situated at the back and side of the house and by taking my camera and zooming in on plants, I discovered their amazing colours and also discovered various insects lurking in the garden and on the plants. These slides were taken over a period of time. I hope you enjoy and any comments are welcome. Colin PC Windows http://www.mediafire.com/?wdijyjzykjz

I have read all these remarks from the beginning of the topic, which started out about a comment on Maureen's show and a suggestion by Mark about the description of the show. There have been a lot of comments and counter suggestions, some I agree with and some I disagree with. One thing that I have learnt from this excellent forum is that we all come from different parts of the world, different backgrounds and we cannot please everyone or "make the horse drink water". The size of the download seems to be a problem. I agree with Barry, one does not have to sit in front of their pc whilst waiting for the download to complete. I am very aware of download size, especially as in my country, you are limited to a certain amount of bandwidth per month and the speeds are not very fast. However, this does not deter me from downloading 70mg if I feel the show is worth seeing. I have not belonged to this forum for long, but have tried to be active in sharing my humble efforts to the forum members. I do agree that it is nice if one can see some sort of description and background to the show. Bill's Beechbrook.com, as mentioned has a place for this and before I download, I always go to the remarks section and try and obtain some sort of background. In my last two or three shows, I have provided as much as possible in the hope that the forum members can decide, but despite this, I still obtain very little feedback on my shows and very few downloads. I have also introduced other information in my ending titles, whether this is of help or not, I do not know. Having said that, I must ask myself, are members really taking note of any additional information that has been provided? I agree whole heartedly with Barry's comments. "I fail to see how any of that information helps the feedback" I have provided the information in the past with very little feedback! Colin

Hi Ken, Thank you for the kind comments. It truly is a magnificent piece of architecture and you feel so insignificant when standing in the stadium yet so up in the air when admiring the views of the city, 106 metres above the stadium. Colin

Last month we visited the new Moses Mabhida Stadium which has just been completed for the 2010 FIFA world cup. I briefly featured the stadium in my slideshow "Durban - past to present" Any comments would be welcome. The size of the slideshow is 17,4mb Colin http://www.mediafire.com/?h2iyhzmzkuu

Hi Ken, I agree, not only the ears, as you can see, the bald head needs a covering too Colin
