Now you are being silly and deliberately provocative. Let's say for argument that we decide that tomorrow's new "standard" is something like 3840 wide. That means that an owner of a D300s (or equivalent) or someone who wants to include a D300s (or equivalent) image can neither zoom nor crop (simile). We don't all have 1DS mk IIII cameras. Bend a little? DG

I might have read his post wrongly but I do not think that Igor said that the inclusion of this feature was holding anything up or preventing further development? If that were the case then I would, as always, back him 100%. But if it can be maintained then I think that it should remain as an option. Whilst using higher resolution images in a higher resolution project is the obvious answer it will, for some - in theory, curtail the amount of zoom which can be applied to some images from older cameras. If it can be maintained then I think that it should remain as an option. DG

Igor, Upscaling just to fill the screen at the possible expense of quality is NOT desirable. Not so long ago people were making 1024x768 shows which were only filling part of a 1920x1080 screen. The advice to them was never to make upscaling possible - the advice was to use bigger images. If this change is put in place then we all need to consider making our standard (EXE) resolution 3840x2160 or bigger. DG
-
Igor, I always use 1920x1080 (or 1200). Fixed Size at that resolution will play on any monitor UP TO 1920x1080. But it will not upscale any further. I don't want my images upsized to 2560x1440 on one of the newer, larger monitors which are already available. DG

I am also concerned about prevention of Upscaling beyond the Virtual Size of a Slide.

In slide list or timeline?

Please - it duplicates one already there. Does it make a difference if MUR choose DEMOS when uploading?? DG

Grouping of options intended for EXE files
davegee replied to Igor's topic in Suggestions for Next Versions
Barry, I can see your logic but all new projects are potentially both EXE and Video. All options need to be available without having to go back and reset switches? JMO. DG -
Test SLIDESHOW uploaded successfully. Did MUR try to upload to DEMOS section?? DG
-
Mur, If you are trying to upload to the DEMO section that could be the problem. Try uploading a show to the SLIDESHOWS section and you should be OK. DG

Mur, I usually add a post in the Online Help thread when anything is added to the file. There is also a link on the top right of the Online Help page for "Recent changes". Today I added your Shift + Click to move a track containing multiple audio clips tip. At the very beginning of the Online Help project I invited submissions but I cannot remember one such submission. I have "commissioned" a few and have credited everyone who has responded. The offer is still open.

Lin, Gary, This is possibly now irrelevant but I think that I have discovered why your video demonstration worked and Gary might not have been able to get it to work. If you accept the default zoom ratio for the Timeline then you are not able to see all four clips at the same time - correct? In this scenario when you click and drag from the beginning of the first clip then all clips are moved without overlapping/crossfading. HOWEVER, if you change the Zoom Ratio for the Timeline to be able to see all clips at the same time it becomes impossible to move the first clip without creating a crossfade between clips one and two. At least that's my observation. Another observation: By adding/linking multiple audio files to a single slide (in the same track) it is impossible to overlap/crossfade them in a single track. HOWEVER, if the multiple audio files are added to different tracks and then linked to a single Slide they can then be overlapped/crossfaded by means of the Fader "handles" and still move in sync with the slide to which they are linked. Does it have to be AV as we traditionally know it? Photographers need a way of presenting their best work (unconnected images) either with music and narrative or in a manual show where they describe location, exposure, equipment etc. Some make the transition to Traditional AV, others don't. What matters is that they are using PTE and not PSG and that the show is a good experience for the viewer/audience. Could there be a category on slideshowclub for such a show? DG

Mike, Add the Audio of the Video as an Audio Track and then you can apply an envelope to it as you would to an MP3 Audio Track. http://docs.picturestoexe.com/en/techniques/addvid2#adding_the_audio_of_a_video_clip_to_an_audio_track DG

(Solved) PTE's MP4s won't play on my Samsung Galaxy Tablet

Gary, MOV files will not play on Kindle so that tends to suggest that all Android Tabs will not play them. DG -

I wonder what would happen if you used something like the Kingston Mobilite as a "buffer" between the tablet and the ntfs key. All that the tablet would "see" is the Kingston and not what it is reading (perhaps)??? DG -

Hi Robert, Yes, it is a useful piece of kit. DG -

If mp4 will not play from a memory key it would very interesting to know why? I forgot to add that I play mp4 wirelessly from either a memory key or an sd card using a Kingston Mobilelite device. DG -

Gary, Quickpic seems to work well on a Kindle (Android) - but it could be a Samsung problem. I always use the PTE Presets. DG -
We have a little book over here called "First Aid in English". It assumes that you can spell properly and teaches correct usage of the language. It would be nice if that could be incorporated along with a Spelling Checker and a Thesaurus and an English to USA English/French/Italian etc converter. DG

Mur, Can you play mpeg4 on your tv? Assuming that your images are ok and you have prepared your project correctly for Videobuilder, then the quality of your DVD player could be less than optimal. The ideal player for acceptable results is an upscaling or blueray player connected to the tv by hdmi cable. Describe your system? DG

MUR, Untick everything other than ISO and try to burn the ISO. Then, as Tom said, try to play the ISO in MPC. Then try to burn the ISO using something like Roxio. DG

OK Carmelo. Later this morning? DG
