Go into "Customize Transitions" and Load the Custom Transition (ptef) file. DG

If you are using just one camera then the file name will give you the order that you require? it is the same as "chronological". however if you are renaming your files or doing something that you have not told us then you might let us know? DG

You could overlay one image on top of another in Objects and Animation? Then reduce you opacity of the top "layer" to move the top image around. When you are happy with that you can revert to 100% opacity and copy and paste the top image to the next slide (or whatever). You will usually need "oversized" images to do this i.e. bigger than project resolution. DG

Do not forget that in order to zoom into an image it should be proportionally larger than 1920 wide? DG

Peter, It would be interesting to see a list of any TVs will not support an MP4 made using Igor's standard preset? I haven't had a problem in two or three years with mostly Sony, Samsung and Panasonic TVs of varying ages. DG
-
2) Image resolution. If you refer to DPI / PPI etc... Forget about it - it is NOT relevant. Just make the images 1920x1080. DG

1) What image dimensions should ideally be used for creating slideshows intended to be output to DVD video and watched on large screen televisions? I won't be using PTE to make executables, just for DVDs to be shared with friends on home TVs; Use 1920x1080. When you make the DVD it will be resized to 768x576 anyway. If your large Flat Screen TV has a USB input and a Media Player investigate making MPEG4 files instead of DVDs - The quality will astound you. Re the friends TVs - if they don't have USB and Media Player built in you are stuck with DVDs but whenever possible use MPEG4. DG P.S. UNTICK "Fixed Size of Slide" in Project Options / Screen before starting the DVD proces.

The recently released VNX2 2.8.0 has some changes to the Movie Editor which might interest owners of Nikon cameras with Movie Facilities. Download from here: https://nikoneurope-en.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/58012 (Europe). DG

Please try the following: This is an EXE file showing the "build-up" of a "Canvas Mounted" image: This is a Template (in the form of a Style) which can be used to create the "Canvas Mounted" Image - Add a 1920x1080 image to the slide list and apply the Style: Dave's Canvas.ptestyle DG

OK Roger, I don't want to bring up what has obviously been said before. DG

I hope that I haven't offended by just asking? I'm confused by the "tone" of your response. Best wishes, DG

Roger, Have you posted any of these as EXE files? DG

Time stretch and Pitch Change are both available in the same module in Soundbooth. DG
-
Hi Peter, But didn't my OP specifically refer to fitting music to slides and not the other way around? "If the music was driving the pace and mood of the sequence" - That's a different scenario altogether. Never mind, DG
-
Hi Peter, So would you use it if it were available in PTE's new Audio Editor? DG
-
Fostex 4 Track Tape - that takes me back! I have stuck with the Fostex brand over the years and graduated from 4 track tape to 8 track digital to my present (ageing) 16 Track VF160 16 Track Digital. It has =/- 6% speed variation but it is much easier to do it via Soundbooth (or similar). I believe that it would be a valuable extra tool if Igor could implement it - to be able to "fit music to slides" at the press of a button as well as "fit slides to music". DG
-
Some Audio editors, Soundbooth for example, have a feature called "Time Stretch". With it you can alter the length of time a piece of music plays, albeit with the inevitable change in Tempo of the piece. Example: Using Time Stretch on a short clip of 23.3 seconds it is possible to vary the duration of the clip from 2 seconds to 3 minutes with great accuracy. However, with my 23.3 second clip I would not foresee stretching beyond the 20 - 30 second range. It is extremely useful for making a piece of music fit a sequence of slides as opposed to the present "Fit Slides to Music" - within certain limitations. Care is needed to maintain the "musicality" of the clip but nevertheless it is a very useful tool. Would it be possible to include "Time Stretch" in the Audio section of a future version of PTE? DG

Firstly, Raise a "Support Ticket" at www.wnsoft.com/support/ You might need a new key and that is the only place that you will get it. DG

Hi Colin, Thanks. I only use primes for (outdoor) portraits in a wireless multi-flash setup with High Speed Sync - in the case that I am trying to analyse it was a Nikon 105 f2.8 VR. I also used my 50 f1.4 on the same session. As I said to Bill, NX2 gives a VERY comprehensive list of EXIF info but does not include Subject Distance for any lens. If I right click on a NEF File in Explorer and look at Properties there is an even more comprehensive list of EXIF parameters which includes Subject Distance which in my case is always blank. It looks like you cannot access this for Nikons?? DG
-
Hi Bill, There are some discussions which Ken pointed out which suggest that this is one thing they don't retain. The EXIF data section in NX2 is extensive and includes Subject Distance (Blank for my Camera / Lens) and tells me all that I need to know about Master and Remote Flashes, EV Compensations in a wireless multi flash setup setup but does not offer me Subject Distance which is important to me to analyse some High Speed Sync images. EXIF Tool is highly recommended apparently. DG
