Make the transition duration longer? DG

Well done Morasoft. Great Template! DG

No, just Welsh. The N Irish, Scottish and English will have to follow their concience(s). DG

Just wondering? DG

Rob, Your image needs to be big enough diagonally to do this. Example: if your image is 200% of your project size and is set at a zoom value of 200% it will/should (?) rotate within your landscape slide resolution. Is this what you mean? DG

Edited. It was fine this morning - around 08.00 GMT. I have been away for the day and on my return it is now very slow. DG P.S. 19.45 - GMT - Seems to have speeded up somewhat??

Hi Igor, If you have already moved then it has cured a problem that I have been having for the last couple of days with my Android Phone. The "corruption" that I have been experiencing with the PTE Forum is now cured.:rolleyes:/> DG

I recently tried to combine multiple movies from different cameras (a Nikon D600 and a Nikon S9100) of the same "event" in PTE and maintain a Lip Sync throughout the Video. Think of someone making a speech and having one "roving" camera which showed the speaker from time to time and another tightly framed on the speaker's head inset into it. Since the cameras were started at different times it was not possible to just drop both into a slide and have them be perfectly in Synchronisation. Firstly, I dragged the "head shot" movie into a slide and allowed the Converter to do its job. This became my "master" movie and I muted the audio in O&A Properties. I also sized it so that it fitted into a corner of the 1920x1080 frame. I then added the Audio of the "head shot" movie in Project Options / Audio. I played the resulting slide to make sure that all was well with the sound levels and the sync. I then added the second "roving camera" movie (converted) behind the "head shot" movie and muted its audio in O&A Properties. Because the "roving" camera had been started before the "head shot" camera, events in the movies were offset by that time difference. By moving the cursor in either O&A or the mini-viewer it was possible to find an event in both of the movies which could be used to Synchronise them. I noted the time difference between such an event in each of the movies and made the rough adjustment in O&A / Properties / Start Time for the "roving" camera file. It might, sometimes, be necessary to use the "offset" parameter to get the synchronisation depending on which camera was started first. At this point there was still a small difference between the two movies and further adjustments were made (fractions of a second) by trial and error until perfection in Lip Sync was achieved. At this point the duration of each file could be adjusted to ensure that both movies ended at the same time. The overall time of the adjusted movies was transfered to the Slide Duration Time. It was an interesting excercise and proved just how versatile PTE can be when it comes to Video/Audio insertion. DG

Nikon Distortion Control Data camera update
davegee replied to goddi's topic in Equipment & Software
Hi Gary, I have posted this elsewhere: "This issue revolves around two main factors: a. Do you shoot JPEG or RAW (NEF) b. Do you use CNX2 or a third party RAW converter If you are a JPEG shooter then turning the Distortion Control ON in-camera will apply the control applicable to the lens and focal length and this is irreversible. The alternative is to use the Retouch Menu where it is controllable and you then have two versions of the same image. If you shoot RAW the appearance is the same but the Distortion Control is reversible in CNX2. You can accept the Automatic Distortion Control or turn it off and use the Manual Distortion Control as an Edit Step (using the same Nikon Lens Data - if your CNX2 is up to date). It's my belief that third party Raw Converters do not recognise the Distortion Control applied in-camera - I am not able to prove this with my D600 files. So, the bottom line seems to be that if you are a RAW (NEF) shooter and do not use CNX2 the process of updating the Distortion Control Update and applying it in camera does absolutely nothing in Post Processing. Is that a fair statement?" DG -
Nikon Distortion Control Data camera update
davegee replied to goddi's topic in Equipment & Software
Gary, Further thoughts: Since any adjustments made to Nikon RAW files in-camera other than WB are only recognized when using CNX2, is there any point in the non-CNX2 user updating the Distortion Correction?? I think that this is where the misunderstanding crept in!! DG -
Nikon Distortion Control Data camera update
davegee replied to goddi's topic in Equipment & Software
Hi Gary, That DPReview article and the answers are interesting. I agree that Distortion Control can be applied via the Shooting Menu, but it is a fixed correction - ON or OFF - and detail at the extreme edges is lost. In the retouch menu it can be varied in much the same way as in CNX2. So because I use RAW exclusively and run everything through CNX2 I think that the obvious best practice (for me) is to do the distortion control in-computer rather than in-camera where it can be varied to suit the shooting circumstances (if required). All of my lenses are covered by the previous version so I will pass on this. The only lens I have which would require correction would be the 16-35mm f4 at the wide end when shooting buildings etc. Thanks for pointing that out. There is a lot of misunderstanding about this and Nikon are not really the best communicators are they? DG -
Hi Bert, I think it would not matter in an MPEG4 because ONLY the portion of the file used (the crop) would be included when making the MPEG4. On the other hand, in an EXE the whole file size would be included in the EXE even though it is cropped. Hope that makes sense? DG

Nikon Distortion Control Data camera update
davegee replied to goddi's topic in Equipment & Software
Gary, See my post #4. If Distortion Control is an issue it is MUCH better to handle it in CNX2. DG -
Bert, I don't understand? What res do you want for your HD TV? Your HD TV is 1080 high - your camera is 1080 high. The only difference is the Aspect Ratio. If you mean that you want to fill the width then I can understand that but given the problems that you have, a compromise would surely be in order? 4:3 doesn't look too bad on a 16:9 screen but you have the black bars on the side. DG P.S.

Perhaps if you make the transition at a ridiculously short time then the "only" sensible adjustment will be to make it longer and you will not then get the overlapping KF problem? DG
-
Hi Tom, Well done - that's effective (and new to me). DG
-
Bert, It is possible to "crop" the converted files in O and A / Properties without doing a further conversion? If you are making an MPEG4 as your output file there is no "penalty" in terms of output file size by doing it this way. EXE files however will contain the full length video. DG
-
Bert, I would suspect that your video card might have something to do with it? Igor has explained the reason for the increase in size a number of times so if you search the forum you should come up with a suitable answer. The advice seems to be to Convert when PTE asks you to. DG

Aspect Ratio is something which we all need to understand thoroughly in order to choose the right tool for the job. Here's someone else's take on the subject: http://digital-photography-school.com/aspect-ratio-what-it-is-and-why-it-matters The site is worth subscribing to - lots of tips on a weekly basis for the photographer. How you apply it to AV is up to you. DG

I'm glad that the Right Click works. P.S. .....even if the humour does not!! DG

Hi Da Campos, I have searched for all Ideas and Suggestions the YOU HAVE STARTED and the only one I can find refers to "Lightroom" and "Plug Ins". Start a suggestion thread for Dragging Objects in the Object Pane?? DG
-
Da Campos, If you want that PTE should behave in that way i.e. to be able to DRAG objects higher or lower (in front of or behind other objects) in the Object List then why not make a clear request in the "Suggestions for the next version" Thread? I am sure that many here would endorse your request?? DG

16:9 = 1920x1080 16:10 = 1920x1200 It cannot be both? DG

Also Right Click on an Object and use "Order". Full (?) List of Hotkeys: DG
