JT, We have a saying in the UK: "Closing the stable door after the horse has bolted". DG :)/>

Your project AR would be 16:9 (1920x1080) Your images would be 3:2 (1620x1080) When you drag the images into the slide line the images would immediately fill the height and give you black bars on the side. You could also change the AR of an existing project to 16:9 and do the same thing. You could then place the following PNG file at the top of the "stack" in O&A to finish it off nicely and hide any PZR animations going on in the 3:2 images outside of the 3:2 area. DG

On a positive note I would like to make a suggestion which might be a little radical but might work and solve all such problems. What if, when starting a new Project (File / New), PTE created a new folder into which you would Import all of the necessary elements of your Project? This could work automatically - any image etc that you wanted to use in your project would be duplicated in the Project Folder. Any image imported this way would automatically flag up two different images with the same name or the same image from two sources with the same name. Tackle the problem at source. In the case outlined by Jill above I would consider Batch renaming the images etc with the initials of the co-workers - that way duplication would not exist (just thinking out loud - I don't know the full circumstances of the project). Sorry Barry, We will have to agree to differ on that one. I have always believed in the six P's. Perfect Preparation Prevents P*** Poor Performance! You are an educator - and a good one> Educate them!! :)/>:)/>:)/> DG

OK, you make a good point. But why not ask Igor to put something in place to prevent you using two images with the same name from different locations?? At present you are asking him to clear up your mess afterwards. Lots of smilies. DG

Don't think so? I have left DVD for DVD Player to TV out of the equation. DG
-
MPEG4 is the option to use for TV - IF the TV has a USB port and a Media Player. See the PUBLISH options. MPEG4 is also compatible with WMP (on my PC!). EXE and TV are not compatible. Although your prefered AR is 3:2 (1080 High) consider superimposing this on a 16:9 Project (1920x1080) so that it is fully compatible with the current TV AR. If you MUST have a DVD please come back with specific DVD questions. For PC use 3:2 (1080 High) EXE. My current output strategy is the following, all on one CD. EXE for PC EXE for MAC MPEG4 for TV MPEG4 for iPad 3/4 DG

I guess it must just be me!! You are asking Igor to build something in to make it easier for you to correct the result of bad practise????? He will probably do it and it will probably be easy but really guys, you only make that mistake once, surely????? Lots of smilies. DG

Gog, I have taken the liberty of Modifying your Carousel Style so that it is now repeatable. Carousel DG.ptestyle Add a group of FOURTEEN images to the slide line, highlight all 14 and apply the style. Add a further group of FOURTEEN images of which the first seven MUST be the same as the last seven in the first group (in the same order!). To loop the sequence place the first seven images of the first group as the last seven images of the last group. You might want to do a little refining of the style? The incoming left hand image and the outgoing right hand image need to be animated properly. I will leave that to you. DG

The way I read it Igor, is that he would have to "announce" images in slides 3-7 which do not exist at that time. i.e. the images he will choose for slides 8-14. When the first Style is applied to images 1-7, there would be Greyed Out images in the sequence because they do not yet exist? DG
-
Gogs, I liked the Style. I might be wrong, but I don't see a way of adding a further 7 images in a logical way. The "previous" 7 images could be incorporated into the "next" 7 images creating an overlap. But the "next" 7 images could not be incorporated into the "previous" 7 images. The problem that I see is that you are showing the next 3-4 images before they become the main image. DG

Could not have done it without you, Igor. Thanks, DG

CANVAS MOUNT CANVAS WRAP STYLE: Here's the Style File .ptef: Canvas Mount 0910_1.ptestyle (1.88MB) Number of downloads: 74 ...and here's the Demo EXE. My link Apply this style to two 1920x1080 images (1920x1080 Project) added to the Slide line. Add a slide to the end of the group(s) but do not include it when applying the style. It can be removed after the styles are applied. DG

THE ICOSAHEDRON Moved from another section. The EXE: Icosahedron 2.zip Here's the Style file: Icosahedron 2.ptestyle For this example, add any combination of 20 images or Videos of any dimensions to the Slide Line. In the Slide Style Menu Import the "Icosahedron 2" Style (right click on TOOLS) and it will be found in USER STYLES. Select all 20 images in the Slide Line and in the Slide Style Menu (Users) click on "Icosahedron 2" and then APPLY. The result is a single slide as shown in the EXE. DG

FILM STRIP STYLE Re-posted. Add SIX 3:2 images to a 16:9 (1920x1080) project. The sixth slide should have a QUICK TRANSITION Apply the Style to the first group of five slides. Add another five 3:2 images to the Slide Line - the last two of the first group should be the first two of the second group etc. Keep the QUICK TRANSITION slide at the end until you have finished using the style. Apply the Style. The Style: FILM STRIP 2.ptestyle DG

Stu, Your reply prompted me to check which version of MPC that I had and sure enough it was OLD! I updated to 1.7.0 and it now plays fine. It shows the wisdom of keeping up to date with software versions B)/>. An ISO out of PTE is not compatible with the version I previously had (1.5.x??). Thanks, DG
-
It sounds like a "Rotate Tall" problem? Was the image originally a "portrait format"? DG
-
Agreed, BUT, on the evidence of my little test with playing an ISO in MPC I can't imagine any DVD being THAT BAD. So, in this case, I'm inclined to think that until I find something which plays ISO and doesn't involve downloading from a dodgy source I'll pass on trying to play the ISO and skip straight to the DVD. I wonder if Igor can suggest something that will do it? DG
-
Barry, Might I ask something? How is your DVD player connected to your TV and what kind of DVD Player is it? I noticed some time ago that Upscaling DVD Players connected via Scart are an improvement on some of the older units we originally had. Furthermore, a BR Player (playing a standard DVD) connected via HDMI is another step up in quality. So, the quality of the DVD made by PTE seems to be possible of (at least) three different quality levels depending on the equipment used. At this time I have a BR Player connected via HDMI and whilst it is not 1920x1080 MPEG4 quality through the TV it certainly seems to give better quality than I remembered when I first tried to create a PTE DVD. I may be wrong but I don't think that it's only PTE that we have to thank for this improvement in quality. The standard of our playback equipment has also improved greatly. DG
-
Problem Stu, It recognizes the ISO File and will start to play it but the result is DREADFUL!! Have you actually tried a PTE ISO File in MPC yourself? DG
-
Thanks Stu, I think that I have done that previously, but I looked and could not find the obvious way to do it. DG

Playing TS(AVC} files in Pictures to exe
davegee replied to Davidmkennedy's topic in Troubleshooting
Does not PTE offer to convert your files? Try right clicking on the clip in the File Panel and choose Convert. It takes a little while. Accept the defaults. DG -
If I get my confidence back I might try it again. DG
-
VLC does it. But there must be others. Since what you see if you play the ISO should be identical to burning to a DVD I would think that burning to a DVD would be the quickest option? I started creating ISOs purely for diagnostic purposes long ago and never got out of the habit. I just create the ISO - right click and open in ether ROXIO or Cyber Link and let them write to the DVD. DG
