Move and shrink/enlarge several objects (e.g. texts) simultaneously: Insert the objects as children of a transparent frame and place them at appropriate positions; then apply (using key points) pans and zooms (not to the objects but) just to the frame. This is one of thousands of other applications. Regards, Xaver

This thread discloses a minor disadvantage of PTE, compared to the highly priced products of the Austrian and German competitors. PTE lacks the possibility of mixing arbitrarily many images using independent light curves and a kind of additive blending (like the blending mode "screen" in Potoshop [in German "umgekehrt multiplizieren"] with a similar behavior as analog slide projection). PTE is restricted to alpha compositing (convex combinations of color values). Regards, Xaver

I forgot to say that I once had similar effects with an earlier version, perhaps 5.61. In this case I opened a pte-file (i.e. I started PicturesToExe.exe) on mouse click from a show using D3D. In some cases (not all) the window of the PicturesToExe application was covered by the calling show. Regards, Xaver

Hi Peter, I just tested PTE601MenuB.exe and PTE601MenuB.pte, how they behave when starting S449.exe. It started in all cases, but in about 25% the 449-show's screen was covered by the screen of the menu show. Using Alt+Tab I could place it on top. I use Win XP, SP3. Regards, Xaver

Hi Lin, and what about you? Won't you be happy, as well? I'm about to postpone my present production in order to use the new feature. I am looking forward to the new version, and I hope that I'll be happy with it. Best regards, Xaver

Maybe that you are right! But I am convinced that the proposed system based on user actions will fail. Some (or perhaps many) users will forget to include the remark "Solved" which may lead to misunderstandings. Others may think that the problem has been solved, while in fact it isn't, etc. ..... Regards, Xaver

Hi, A few words from my side (just an ordinary user). I would like to see that WnSoft adds something like [bug No. 4712, under progress] if a new (real) bug occurs. This would show that the bug has been acknowledged. Having solved the problem, WnSoft should replace "under progress" by "solved". Regards, Xaver
-
This bug also occurs in case where you replace the zoom by a rotation. Regards, Xaver

In the Common Tab (after having made your choice for your button), beneath the text "Go to slide number ..." there should be a (long) text box. Please insert the slide number there. Regards, Xaver

Bob, Maybe that you just spent too much time to fill in the order form? Try it again at hurry up! Regards, Xaver

Dan, Add (in the O&A window) a Rectangle to your slide, fill mode "Solid", and choose an appropriate color. Use asymmetric zooms (independent zooms for x and y) in order to shape the rectangle. Place your text object on top of the rectangle (don't choose the text as a child of the rectangle, because of the zooms). If you want to animate text and background, choose both objects as common children of a transparent frame, and apply animation operations on the frame. Regards, Xaver

It is a matter of taste, (mis)using a feature which has been made for something completely different. An obvious disadvantage of the "logo method" is the fact that you will not see the border (mask) in the O&A window. So, I'll stick to the "windowed mount". Regards, Xaver

A possible alternative: Use the concatenation function "Run slideshow on exit" in Project Options > More. Regards, Xaver

Congratulations! You are the type of customer the industry likes best. Do you have any plans for the second half of the year, changing to Sony/Zeiss? Regards, Xaver

Hi Umberto, the production that I am presently working on (with lots of voice clips) screams for this feature. Best regards, Xaver

In order to burn a DVD or CD using an ISO-file, you may use the free program ImgBurn (http://www.imgburn.com/) Start the program, choose the option "Write image file to disk". Regards, Xaver

I'll take you at your word Best regards, Xaver

Defaults the wrong way round

We can insert images in various ways: We can insert them directly. We can insert them as a child of a frame We can insert them in combination with a mask. ..... Images can have borders or not. The screen can have various virtual sizes, or it can have a fixed size. Presently, we have the insertion options "Fit to slide" and "Cover Slide" Question: In which of the said situations should PTE (automatically?) switch to a kind of original mode? The present way may not be nice in all situations, but it is clear and simple. I would propose to leave it as it is Regards, Xaver -
Regarding freeplaymusic (FPM) you should be careful. Music from FPM isn't that free: Look at the Terms of Use, and the Rate Card at FPM! Only recently I asked for the conditions for using an FPM title in a slide show being presented during the annual exhibition of an amateur photo club (absolutely non-profit). Here is the answer form julie@freeplaymusic.com: "Using Freeplay Music, as mentioned, requires a paid license to be secured with us. Our standard rates for non-broadcast multimedia (live presentation) use are $50 for one-time use, $125 for 6 months of use and $250 for one year of unlimited use." The use of FPM titles on private home pages isn't free, either! Regards, Xaver

ability to integrate video clips into PTE shows
xahu34 replied to Ed Overstreet's topic in Suggestions for Next Versions
Hi Lin, I consider this as your personal opinion. What do we "really" need? I really like programming shows using scene graphs (parent/child stuff), but do we "really" need it to make a good AV production? We should all be happy to have PTE's features on the side of the images, but having better support for audio would "really" be an improvement (maybe not in the focus of users whose interest concentrates on complex animations). Regards, Xaver -
Peter, I think that the possibility to see the Q&A timelines of several objects in parallel is more important than having colored points. Today, permanent switching between objects (in order to see the positions of the key points) can be awkward. Regards, Xaver

You can take any text object. If its height is about two times the height of the screen, or if its width more than three times the width of the screen, then the text will look fuzzy. Regards, Xaver

No, actually not! I had a look at your PDF, and I would recommend to rewrite it, using the Audacity Envelope Tool in order to realize the cross-fading. Regards, Xaver

I don't think that your sex life will raise that much interest. On the other hand, this would really be a subject where you could regard yourself as a top level expert. Best regards, Xaver
