  1. Working with PTE v 8.0.17 on Windows 7, I just finished a project 18 minutes long, 129 complex slides. Project has 37 audio tracks, all mp3 files except 2 which are wav files (by mistake). Project runs 100% perfect, MP4 file for PC runs 100% perfect MP4 file for PC is 2,57 GB, zip file is 3,77 GB. I made respective EXE file (3,89 GB) which has no audio at all, and lots of objects are missing along the show (JPG files, converted avi files, png files, etc..) although it runs smooth and perfect. Any idea what is going on? Thanks. Jose
  2. Hi all, and thank you once more. I am so sorry, I was confused about PTE versions installed in my computers! In fact, the laptop, showing these fonts, is already with PTE 8.0.17, while the desktop was with 8.0.4 and didn't show these fonts. I just installed 8.0.17 in the desktop and fonts are showing, everything is ok! By the way, someone knows when a 64-bit native PTE will be available? "Out of memory" issues go on in my shows... Regards, Jose
  3. Thanks, both of you. Fonts are: - Bickham Script Pro Regular - Open type, PostScript Outlines - Le Havre Layers Double Line Extra Bold - Open type, PostScript Outlines - XMAS3 Regular - Open type, PostScript Outlines As you said, beeing Open type, they should be recognized by PTE. Now, something new: I have 2 computers, one desktop, the other a laptop, both with Windows 7 100% updated, same PTE 8.0.4, everything the same. On my laptop, PTE recognizes these 3 fonts, they show on Objects&Animation Text properties and I can use them. On my desktop, no, but I can use them in Word and Excel, so, they are also well installed and usable. Why PTE does not recognize and show them in my desktop? Thanks and Regards, Jose
  4. I am using Windows 7 and PTE 8.0.4 for a long time. Recently I installed 3 new fonts in Windows, which are recognized and usable by Word and Excel but are not recognized by PTE, they don't show on Text font possibilities. Any idea what is going on? Thanks.
  5. But you and DG are not non technical newcomers, you are advanced members. Why not purists? Regards, Jose
  6. After 27 posts on it, the main problem seems to remain... Let me try to help. When I make a PTE project which will include video, I start by converting all my video files (whatever format) to "converted.avi". To do so, I open PTE "Videoconverter.exe", I add all my video files, and I define conversion parameters, usually "Progressive" and "Quality 100%". It's a batch conversion, not attended. I now have all my video files "converted.avi" (not trimed, just as the original). To use each converted.avi file in a slide, I must define where it starts and ends INSIDE THE SLIDE. START point will be defined (in O&A) by "Offset". END point will be defined (in O&A) by means of the video "Duration". If this slide only includes this video, the duration of the slide equals the video duration, and you must introduce manualy this slide duration (in O&A Slide options). If this slide includes other objects, each with its own duration, just sum all these durations and you get final slide duration, which you must introduce manualy (in O&A Slide options). Of course, for each video file I must also define where I want it to start (the video itself), and for this I use (in O&A) "Start time". This is the way I trim my video files in a project, fast and precise. I never use the automatic way to convert to AVI, as I can not define conversion parameters (progressive and 100% quality). I never had frozen images, video passing to next slide (?), audio blocked, etc.. Regards, Jose
  7. Why shouldn't Slide Options/Slide Duration automatically be adjusted to match what you set it during the timming??? Because in case you use more than 1 video in the same slide, this would complicate things! Option, as suggested, could be useful. Jose
  8. What size is your first zip? More than 4 Gb you get problems.
  9. Hi Gary, I have Mercalli V3 SAL 64-bit which I use when I want a "Rock-Steady" stabilization (equivalent to a fixed camera). Otherwise , as said before, I use SONY VEGAS MOVIE STUDIO, because stabilization is usually good enough and I can apply sharpen effect at same time (which Mercalli does not allow). I assume that you used a 8 minute MP4 file (slides mixed with video) just for time measurement purposes. In fact, you should never stabilize such kind of files (everything mixed, slides and videos, even a sequence of videos). You should stabilize video clips, one at a time, and if necessary triming them before stabilization, trying to reduce zoom effect to a minimum. Concerning "timings"... what is the hurry? Building a slideshow project takes its time! And needs patience, lots of it. If your system is 64-bit you should have a 64-bit Mercalli. And you should always use export maximum quality, because at lower qualities we can not see (?) loss of quality but it is really there...! Just an opinion... Regards, Jose
  10. Stabilization! In fact, this is a need for video shooting, I always stabilize all my clips, even not using zoom, because presentation is always better, for example, in case of an horizontal or vertical pan, even shooting with wide angle, start and end of pan are much more gradual and smooth which adds quality to presentation. I already tried some softwares before but my conclusion was SONY VEGAS MOVIE STUDIO HD (my version is some 3 years old, v11.0) is the best, I always use it with excellent results. It has several stabilization degrees and roller shutter correction. Try it free. Concerning loss of quality due to stabilization zoom, I use to apply 5% to 10% sharpen effect, if the stabilization zoom is too much, to replace some loss of native sharpness. It works. All this with VEGAS, and I render in M2TS file (22 Mbps video bitrate) which is accepted by PTE 8.0.4 converter, where I always use PROGRESSIVE, 100% QUALITY. Do you really think that a pistol grip with a fluid head can replace post-stabilization? I don't think so... Hand shaking will not be absorved, neither hand small movements, I think. Regards, Jose
  11. Igor, May be I am one of the so called "AV authors who create heavy animation with a lot of keyframes" as per my past posts concerning a future PTE 64-bit native version. So, I am glad to hear about next 8.5 version which will solve some of actual problems. PTE deserves it, as I said before. Congratulations! When will 8.5 be available? Regards, Jose
  12. DG, I did not try your sugested test but in the meantime I saw that there is a foot note (when Create Template finish) saying that "Template is saved". Ok, not so bad... Anyhow, a progression scale should be more convenient. A 5 GB template takes around 4 minutes to be created and I don't think that it can be "immediately" written to the Clipboard, do you? Jose
  13. By the way, When creating a template from the show (PTE 8.0.4) I can not find any indication (numeric or graphic) of the creation progress. I must be carefully watching the hard drive blinking led in order to "guess" when template creation is completed. What a primitive and dangerous method...! Am I missing something? Thanks, Jose
  14. Nobeefstu, Yes, I think you are right, problem must be PTE's zip components/extension libraries to support the Zip64 format extensions. Which, may I say, should be expected, as Igor seems not to care too much to 64-bit. In fact, this is in line with the dramatic delay to produce a PTE 64-bit native version. You refer that "nowadays backup zips are increasingly larger with the inclusion/use of video files", and I should add that PTE itself (with all its amazing capabilities) is dramaticaly missing a 64-bit native version, mainly since standard video was introduced, not to mention actual current use of 1920x1080 video, even 4K, which turns the making of a normal project an enormous and anoying problem. Thanks for your information. Jose
  15. Just to confirm (?) that in actual PTE 32-bit native, ZIP archive can't be larger than 4 GB. In fact, I installed WinZip 64-bit v18.5 (on my Windows 7 Pro 64-bit) and verified that a 4,42 GB Zip Backup of my PTE project could not still be open or extracted (Error: Central directory not found). Is this because it was not compressed using a Zip 64-bit version? Otherwise, why this happens? Despite this inconvenience can be overpassed using "Template mode", is this because PTE is not 64-bit native? No news about this...? Regards, Jose
  16. Thanks to all of you for your help. First of all, I could recover all my deleted files, including my last PTE file (using EASEUS), so I didn't loose nothing!!! I tried "Template solution" and it worked fine, no limitations (4,50 GB with 129 files, all is there), so I hope I will use this solution for the future. Before I asked for your help I tried "7Zip" and Windows unzip function but they didn't work neither. According to Igor, since I use Windows 7 Pro 64-bit, I will have a try with ZIP64 (till 16 GB archive). Thanks again Jose
  17. Windows 7 Pro PTE 8.0.4 Making a project which will be near 1 hour long. Lots of JPEG and converted AVI, some PNG files, one MP3 long audio track, some MP3 comments and own's slide audio. Each time I add a "chapter" to the project I create respective PTE Backup in Zip. So far, so good. Last time I created a zip backup it was 3,71 GB containing 116 files Today I created another zip backup: 4,42 GB with around 135 files. When I tried to extract this last backup (WinZip 12.1) came an error: "Start of central directory not found; zip file corrupt; possible cause: file transfer error". I tried to google on this subject but only saw something about a 4 GB limit to Zip files on WinZip, as well as some coments on a poor reliability of WinZip with long and heavy files. Problem is that I deleted my ".pte" file after having made the zip backup. When I tried to unzip this backup... NOTHING! And I lost part of my project! I am now running "EASEUS DATA RECOVERY WIZARD PROFESSIONAL 7.5" on my working computer, trying to recover the deleted files, including my last ".pte" file. But I will have to wait some 5 hours to end the process and see final result, it's not sure. In this meantime I wonder if some member had already this problem with PTE BACKUP IN ZIP concerning this 4 GB file limit or poor reliability of WinZip. Anyway, what could be an alternative for me to backup my several PTE files, each time bigger and bigger? Thanks, Jose
  18. PTE 8.0.4 In a project, I have 12 slides (1 minute total). All are masked. I want to run a 1 minute movie "underside" all these slides (movie showing around each masked picture/slide). Movie must be continuous, I mean, not interrupted each time a slide changes to next one. I think this is possible but can not find where it is explained. Some help, please! Thanks, Jose
  19. Claudio, Thanks very much for your information. Yes, I got it now. Best regards, Jose
  20. Hi Claudio, Could you please let me know exact link to "Mon Maitre" from JPD? I got very much interested in your question and references to JPD slideshow, but I can not find it anywhere, either in PicturesToExe or Beechbrook sites. Thanks. Jose
  21. Thanks Ken, in fact the easiest solution is Irfanview.
  22. Thanks very much. Printscreen can in fact be a solution, but it includes some garbage which only occupies space. In this meantime, just googling a little bit more, I discovered a process: using IRFANVIEW. It's easy and includes pictures and videos thumbs. Thanks again and regards. Jose
  23. As part of pre-production of a PTE project, I need to have a print on paper of some 600 photos and videos thumbnails, in order to have an instant glimps of all available material. In Windows7, process to print thumbnails (photos and videos, as we see them displayed on computer) exclude the video thumbnails, only photos are printed. Is there any other way to print both photo and video thumbnails on same sheet of paper? Thanks. Jose
  24. Dave, Thanks so much. It worked! Perfect! I didn't even know this very usefull Shift Key Frame Control. Great! Best regards, Jose
