  1. My Skyreat 1.33X anamorphic lens for the GoPro has arrived but I have not tested. I hope to test soon. Thanks, Tom
  2. Image crop is very fast. I don't think this method would work on other software. Thanks, Tom
  3. I have updated 4:3 and added two more aspect ratios for NTSC and PAL format videos. Not sure how useful it will be for images but I think it sometimes helps videos. I use it to convert old 4:3 DVDs to 16:9 and add a slight amount of sharpen to the video. You could always make changes to the style zoom values. I think the original SuperView was designed to use the full sensor aspect ratio (4:3) instead of cropping to 16:9 and losing pixels. 4. Playing with aspect ratio conversion. Instead of a linear X zoom it uses 10 image crops with 5 different X zoom values. I am planning on purchasing an anamorphic lens for my gopro and I wanted to test converting aspect ratios using image crop feature in PTE. GoPro has a SuperView feature that does something like this inside the camera. Probably not a style that is useful for most people unless you want your 4:3 media stretched to 16:9 instead of cropped. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anamorphic_format https://community.gopro.com/s/article/What-is-SuperView?language=en_US Tom Anamorphic Stretch.ptestyle
  5. Yes, there are many options for trimming/splitting/cutting videos. I think the PTE version of trimming is good except I wish PTE would auto update the slide duration after making the main object video shorter or faster. Tom
  6. I find that sometimes I have to repeat changes I have made to the shadow adjustment. I know I can save the settings and load them back again. If there was an editor setting to retain shadow adjustment settings then it would save me time. It would be even faster than the other method of selecting all the objects and adjusting the shadow settings. Tom
  7. I would still like to see a stroke or outline option for text. Maybe if the blur was optional for the text shadow option? Then size would control how thick the stroke was around the text. All the video editors I have tested support text outline. Tom
  8. Trim works in PTE..., but if you trim after adding the video to the show PTE as the main object it does not update the slide duration to the new duration of the trimmed video. I then have to go into slide options and manually change the duration. There is probably some automatic method that will do since it does not seem to bother anyone else. Tom
  9. Hi Dian, Welcome to the forum. There is no automatic option for this but it has been requested in this post. https://www.pteavstudio.com/forums/topic/26067-sound-volume-by-track-at-run-time/ Tom
  10. Hi Rosy, That is a very small camcorder. Not much larger than an action camera. Sony makes very good image sensors. I remember using VHS-C and 8mm tape camcorders from 30+ years ago My GA400 action camera arrived yesterday. I hope to compare video quality/stabilization to the GP10 on my next bike ride. Tom
  11. Hi Rosy, No. I didn't shave my arms. I only waited until HD was processed before posting to the forum. YT processes SD, the HD, then 4K. I checked and 4K is available now, but you might have to select it using the gear icon, quality setting. The other reason is the overcast sky is a diffused light source, with low contrast, and not many shadows. Running out of cameras so I bought another budget action camera for my helmet to place in upper left corner of video. $90 and it's supposed to have 6 axis EIS. At first I was going to buy the GA320 but the GA400 video quality and EIS has improved. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B09J4RZFLD/ Tom
  12. Testing under bike seat camera. Another typical overcast day. The bumpy road on last section of video is scheduled to be resurfaced (notice spray paint on underground utilities) after environmental impact reports/coastal permits are approved. I find the GoPro attachment system challenging. It relies on compression to apply friction to a smooth plastic surface. The problem is if you have a plastic arm attached to the camera it can act as a lever and rotate the camera when hitting bumps in the road. Poor design. The only solution I can think of is to glue the plastic so it can not rotate. Also when the Yi camera is mounted upside down (beneath the bike seat) it does not sense the orientation so the date stamp should not be used. The Yi image stabilization does seem to be working at 1080/60 or it might just be the leverage suspension seat post. Tom
  13. Strange. Did you download from Google Play store? I think the apps are tested for malware if it comes from Google Play store. Do you have wifi in your building or is it a cell data download? Tom
  14. Hi Rosy, The gimbal seems nice and stable. It makes the camera video seem smoother walking between rooms. Tom
  15. Very nice. I also have been using the Mac version more than the Windows version. It's amazing how well it works. Thanks, Tom
  16. Hi Rosy, I have a GoPro sticky mount for my bike helmet. Stay tuned for further testing. I think the Yi will be my 1080 rear facing camera on the bike if I can get it to stabilize the video. I can overlay it in a corner of my GoPro video. I hope all is well and wish you a speedy recovery. Tom
  17. HI, I think you can select multiple objects and then set the Properties time range to 0 - 0. Will that work for what you want to do? Tom
  18. Thanks. I might wait before purchasing after GoPro announces 11 (next month?) to see if they have a new anamorphic lens. Tom
  19. Is this the lens? I will do some more research about lens options for the camera. I have the max lens mod but the gyro image stabilization seems fine without using it. https://www.skyreat.com/product/skyreat-1-33x-anamorphic-lens-compatible-with-gopro-hero-9/ https://www.amazon.com/Anamorphic-Compatible-Filmmakers-Cinematic-Accessories/dp/B093WD4CS1/ Thanks, Tom
  20. Testing continues. I thought the Yi supported image stabilization at 4K but I was wrong. I will need to reshoot video at 1080p instead of 4K. The GoPro 10 continues to amaze me in video quality. I am impressed with the stabilization and dynamic range while heading into the sun with shadows from the trees. There is some curvature due to the wide angle lens that could be corrected by either shooting linear or shooting native sensor 4:3 AR and applying ReelSteady that corrects for wide angle lens distortion and crops to 16:9. Nice morning for a bike ride. Clear sky and cool weather. 4K/30 HEVC 44 Mbps Tom
  21. I have my doubts that humans will make the leap to an interstellar species. We have no propulsion technology that would allow us to travel fast enough for a human to visit another star system in one lifetime. That means our only option would be multi-generation space travel in a ship like Arthur C. Clarke's Rendezvous with Rama. Tom
  22. It's hard to comprehend how large the universe is compared to our small part of a galaxy. I did a quick google search and a conservative estimate of 200 billion galaxies and each galaxy has an average of 100 million stars. Each star has an average of 2 planets. I think there is a good chance there is life and probably intelligent life far beyond our own intelligence. Thanks, Tom
  23. HI Rosy, I was thinking maybe cloud cover but where we live it hardly ever changes in summer. Overcast in the mornings, sometimes clearing up if there is enough wind in the afternoons. Our average summer temperature near the Pacific ocean is usually less than 70F/21C. If you want higher temperatures you have to travel inland a few miles to a higher elevation above the reflective cloud cover. I will try to make a proper 2 camera comparison in the near future so the same amount of light is on both cameras. Looking forward to viewing your video. Thanks, Tom
  24. Short video. Still learning about GoPro editing. Unfortunately due to operator error (me) my Yi camera did not record when dual mounted with the GoPro so I used a previous Yi video from a few days before in the same area (notice the white truck in the upper left change). Also the cameras need to be tilted up higher. The GoPro records in HEVC at 45 Mbps and splits videos into 4 GB segments. The Yi records H.264 45 Mbps but not limited to 4 GB file size. Both cameras were set to 4K 24 fps. I think there are advantages to capturing at 24 fps like more light on the sensor and fewer frames to stabilize. The 4K quality out of the GoPro camera viewed on a 4K monitor is amazing. I re-encoded the video 2 times (GoPro player trim and PTE mask) and then uploaded to YT so there is some loss of detail in the video. The hypersmooth gyro stabilization does a very good job. The fine grain in the road is easier to see on the GoPro and the colors more saturated. I might do another video comparing GyroFlow, ReelSteady, FinalCut Pro, and Davinci Resolve stabilization software when I have time. I should also test the wide angle max lens mod for the GoPro. Tom
  25. I was planning on using a PTE rectangular mask to split the screen. It should be more accurate for color comparison. Tom
