  1. This is the slide following the video. In Timeline view the length (duration) of a Slide is determined by where the following slide starts If your video is say 30 secs long & you only want the first 10 secs, then position the following slide (or video) at 10secs - Simple Jill
  2. I gave you 3 different ways to trim a video depending on what you want. The quickest & easiest is in the Timeline As I said above, you don't need to trim the end - just move the following slide to the point you want the video to end. Very quick & easy. Jill
  3. Igor, many thanks for your offer of help. Please see email with Link to MP4 Jill
  4. Having done some more tests it appears to be happening with MP4 files created with M.Objects software. We are currently receiving entries for a competition & these are the ones causing the problems. VLC have come back to say no one else has of yet reported a problem & wanted to know what the Codec was. We have replied that it does appear to be related to M.Objects. MP4's made with PTE both Windows & Mac versions play OK Jill
  5. It appears that there is a problem with the latest VLC Player 3.0.11 MP4 files play perfectly in an earlier version 3.0.8, but the sound breaks up when playing in the latest version. The same MP4 file will play OK in Windows Media Player & in PTE. We have emailed VLC about this problem. Best not to update yet if you have an earlier version. Jill
  6. We use both exe & MP4 & don't have any problems. We have run many online AV events. Make sure you tick the box to 'allow computer sound' and 'optimise full screen video' It could be that your mic is picking up the sound, rather than it coming directly from your computer. This would cause a delay. Jill
  7. Thank you Igor, thanks for all of your efforts in producing the Mac version and all your work on PTE. Best wishes to all at WnSoft. Stay safe and take some time off. Jill
  8. Try uninstalling and then reinstall PTE. I have never had a problem with moving slides. Jill
  9. To remove several slides in one go click on the first, then shift click on the last. Drag the group back up to file list or hit delete Jill
  10. with alignment left & Centre of Text at -100 the Text should stay where you place it & grow to the right. It does when I use this method for aligningtext in a Menu slide. Jill
  11. Use VLC Player - it is free & can save a screengrab from the video as a jpg. The 'hardest' part is making sure you pause the video at the correct place to capture what you want. It will capture at the video resolution. But also very easy in PTE, run it in fullscreen, pause playback at the point you want & if using Windows 10 just hit Windows Key +Shift+S You can then grab the whole screen, or part of it & then save to your chosen folder. No need for extra software. But you do need the screen resolution you are playing back on to be high Jill
  12. you can just save the shortened project with a different name and publish that. you can then open the original project & continue working. Jill
  13. see here https://www.pteavstudio.com/forums/topic/22160-pte-av-studio-10014/ for the details of each update - first post under general Discussion Jill
  14. Make sure that you (he) ticks Share computer Sound and Optimise for Fullscreen Video to get it to run smoothly. Also make sure that everyone is muted otherwise the sound from the AV will distort. Jill
  15. If you are using Windows 10, when the warning comes up click More then click run anyway. The next time you run it you won't get the warning. Jill
  16. once the sound clips are linked to a slide, they will be copied when you copy the slide to a new project. To export all of the sound to a file, in Timeline click on the 3 bars with the drop down arrow, above the timeline & select Export soundtrack Jill
  17. Good tutorial Barry & explains why you 'may' want to use KFSD for video with a following still image. But I still prefer to keep it switched off. It is so easy to simply move the following slide in the Timeline to give the exact effect you want, as every 2 slide combination will be different. Depending on content you may want the video to transition into the next slide, or you may want it to end at the start or part way through the transition. When working with still images KFSD causes so many problems if you move slides to a different position. So I find it much better to just keep it permanently off. Jill
  18. Keep Full Slide duration Something i never ever use - causes too many problems Jill
  19. You don't need to, unless the video is a very large file & you want to reduce the final exe file size. If making an MP4 then it will only contain the portion you are using. You can also drag the same video multiple times into the Timeline and trim it for each part that you want to use. You can go into Objects & Animation & select Adjust Time range in the Properties tab. Then just move the start & end pointers to where you want the video to start & end. If you physically want to trim the video & Create a new file then right click the video in the File List before adding it to the Timeline & set the Trim points (the same as in O&A) Make a note of where the file will be saved & click OK It will normally be saved in the same folder as the orignal, with the same name with .converted at the end. I just find it so much easier to trim in the Timeline, you can always fine tune it then if you don't quite get it right first time. Jill
  20. you can just trim the video in the Timeline & you don't need to save it. Put the play bar where you want the video to start. Right click & select Trim beginning of video Move the following slide up to where you want the video to end. Job done - very quick Jill
  21. In Timeline, click on a Slide then right click an audio clip & select Link Clip. You have to do each clip individually & can only link 1 clip on a track to each slide. Clips on different tracks can be linked to the same slide. Jill
  22. Only once had a problem with this, it was a competition secretary reading out the titles of the images. They were using Photocomp software I think. But I put it down to him reading from his list & not actually looking at the screen to see what the image was. Running AV's - PTE exe's and/or MP4's we have never had a problem with sync. If you do a sound test with Zoom & speak into the mic, you will notice it is several seconds before the sound comes back through the speakers. It has to be uploaded to Zoom servers, then presumably to a satellite, then downloaded again & passed back from the zoom servers. So this does take a time. Presenters need to be aware that there could be a delay & make sure if demonstrating that they leave enough time between saying something before moving on for the audience to catch up. Jill
  23. It would be really helpful if there could be a Shortcut key for 'Split Audio Clip' EG Alt+S Having recently made 2 AV's with voiceover - I do the whole voiceover as 1 take. I then need to split it up to be able to move the phrases into the correct place on the Timeline. The Split Audio Clip command works great, but it would be so much quicker if I could just hit Alt+S (or another key combination) Jill
