Replacement Files for Jean-Cyprien's Rubik's Cube Style....
JudyKay replied to Lin Evans's topic in Styles & Templates
Thanks to both of you for your work. I updated. jk -
That is incredible! Thank you.

I travel a lot and use PTE on various computers: desktop, a home laptop, 2 laptops of various sizes and purposes for travel, another desktop I keep at my aging parents home in another country. I am the only one in my family that uses PTE or even knows what it is--so it's used one computer at a time. I am sometimes (though rarely) off the grid for up to weeks at a time. I am starting to imagine deactivation, reactivation, no internet, can't use PTE, with diminishing enthusiasm. Perhaps I have enjoyed the freedom to use PTE this way long enough that I don't like losing this capability. If we have a problem would there be a way to call for help? That would require internet and Skype as well which might not be available some places. I use Photoshop and occasionally have the hassle of deactivation / reactivation which never works automatically for me--I have to call. My situation is probably rare, so maybe it doesn't count. Realistically, with a little adjustment of my habits, this wouldn't be much of a problem for me. Edit: Statement Removed.

Doesn't pretty much everyone have Skitch? Or should have? It is great for selective screenshots or if you want to do any quick markup or editing.

I travel a lot and sometimes have no internet in faraway places. Yet I understand this won't affect me in any negative way. We all use the internet to purchase PTE. This surely isn't much different. We all benefit from reduced piracy.

What a beautiful place! I love the rich dimensional quality and colors of your photos. The slide show is very nicely put together as well. I noticed a lot of fine, subtle details that took time, thought effort and just worked. Thanks!

It looks like a cottonwood tree? Those are so pretty, but so messy and they get rotten in the middle and weigh a ton! Can you burn it for firewood?

A tree fell on your house? Quite a few years ago in a heavy snow a huge pine tree maybe 3 feet in diameter feel across my neighbor's house, right across the bedroom. It smashed it's way all the way down to floor level. Missed their bed by inches. Imagine waking up to that all that crashing, and splintering and swirling snow and cold air! They were shook up, but fine. By the way. Are you and all your's OK?! Were you in the house when it fell? I am worried about you!

Thanks. When I add video I often just add the whole thing, even if I only use a few seconds. But that is a bad way to do it and creates 1) problems, 2) huge exe files. I often have problems with EXE files not playing correctly if I do this. It's not problem if I export mp4. This video inspires me to do it "right." Thanks.

I can't believe I missed that all this time! Oh that makes life better! Thanks so much!

I notice that Ctrl+T is missing in Hotkeys help from O/A for "Change Slide Duration" Is there a way to manually set the exact time of a Keyframe? And to copy that exact time to another keyframe on another photo or object? I spend too much time trying to align times between objects or slides. Maybe this belongs in a different thread. Sorry.

Some great templates and styles here. Thanks you all so much. jk

If you find it, I would like it too!

I think if you dig around on TheDom's website you can find some stuff you can still download. It's pretty broken up, so be creative. Try here. I have a photo album template (not a wedding album--I think he sold that, and I don't have it) from TheDom, but its pretty old. I recommend Barry Beckham's Wedding Album. His prices are VERY reasonable for what you get.

I remember a thread here years ago, which I cannot now find, about beziers. I had a different user name then, and forget what one of several I used. I gave a link to a piece of software long since gone that allowed placing points and creating lines and curves between them, like any good CAD program. An object could be made to follow the curve. The idea is nice.

How to crash PTE by adjusting Picture information
JudyKay replied to JudyKay's topic in Troubleshooting
I have concluded that this is actually a very useful feature if it works properly. I am presently adding photos to a background and then creating a mask for the photo. I want to visually adjust the fade and size of a rectangular fade. Manual adjustments mostly fail. This should be made to work. The work around is to guess and keep creating new masks until I get it right, but that is a lesser idea. Edit: I am also quite successful coping mask parameters from one mask to another with fine tuning. This is very useful, but the slightest mistakes creates error chaos. I really hope this function can be developed dummy-proof for people like me -
How to crash PTE by adjusting Picture information
JudyKay replied to JudyKay's topic in Troubleshooting
Most normal people wouldn't try such a thing, but I need protected! Maybe just a little error trapping. Then again, no one may discover it again for 30 years. Actually I discovered the problem by adding a texture as a style to a blank slide and then wanting to modify it. I am not normal, but that is something a "normal" person might do. -
Many variations are possible, but try this: 1. Open a project 2. Insert a blank slide 3. Apply slide style: Image | Color-Grayscale 4. Open O/A for the same slide 5. Choose Properties Tab 6. Adjust the Picture information to something unlikely, for example, change "TextWithSize:640:427:1" to "TextWithSize:640000000000:427:1 " Depending on the variation, all manner of warnings popup and sometimes an inescapable error cycle. This occurs when applying a style to a blank slide. It is not unlikely that a person would do this and then attempt to change to an actual image or just be curious (like me!). An error of entry might produce this error.

Build A Better Mousetrap - Reorder and Rename
JudyKay replied to JudyKay's topic in General Discussion
Oh this forum is a beautiful thing! Why didn't I ask sooner? Bridge does exactly what I want. And yes I am pretty much abandoning templates for styles for some things. Great solutions. Totally resolved. Thank you both! jk -
Now we can easily drop images into a template simply by renaming them something predictable like 001.jpg, 002.jpg, etc. Sometimes I have quite a few photos, maybe 50 or more that I want to drop into a template, but the order is wrong. Other times I want a specific number of images to fit specific templates which I may place end to end in a project file. Is there a way to visually reorder slides and then rename them according to the new order--such as 001.jpg, 002.jpg, etc.? We can reorder photos in PTE but cannot rename them by the new order. We can reorder images and rename by the new order in Irfanview, but that seems cumbersome and error prone (I goof up some detail almost every time!). Anyone have a better idea?

I used to do some. Haven't in a long time. Probably never will again.

Oh you, DAve! You know what I meant! I must stop writing when I am so tired. Actually Control.MouseDoubleClick is an event in several languages (C++, C#, VB, F# and ??) but that is not what I meant. So I have no defense left. Owell. How about just "fix it." Can I say that safely? Maybe we could invent Control + Double+ Click and make a fortune!
-
I am traveling in remote parts for a while, and will try to answer better when I get back to "civilization." Pt 10: it is true we can select one of 3 options for dbl click, but all three functions (slide options, O/A, & style) are very commonly used. Why only choose one? I suggest something like: Dbl click slide (s) - open slide properties Ctr+Dbl click slide(s) - open O/A Alt +Dbl click slide(s) - open style Pt 8: We can add a border to an image (O/A, Properties, Adjust image and border). I have wanted to add a border to a frame or rectangle the same way. There are many ways to do the same thing, but sometimes this would be very convenient.
