Thanks Igor for the swift response. I thought it would have to be an MP4. However he wants to make it a step through show, he is just showing single images and needs to talk about each one before moving to the next. There are also a couple of video clips. I know that you can pause VLC player with the spacebar, so he may have to do that or else play it on his windows pc. Jill

I am asking for a member of our Photographic Society. He says he has recently updated his mac to the latest catalina & it will now not run any 32 bit apps. Therefore he cannot now run a file Published in PTE9 for Mac. He is giving a talk to our club in a couple of weeks & was planning to use his Mac for the Zoom session. Does anyone know a way around this? Thanks Jill

Hi Brad, do any inserting, deleting and changing position of slides in slide view, not timeline. This will keep all the other durations the same. The box in the bottom right of the slide is the duration. You can change by typing in a new duration or adust with the up down keyboard arrows in half second intervals. The box top right is the transition duration. In timeline if you hover the mouse over the front edge of a slide it will change to a double headed arrow. Click and drag left to lengthen that slide duration and shorten the previous or drag right to lengthen the previous and shorten that slide. Click in the centre of a slide and drag left or right to move all following slides along. Jill

In Objects & Animation each object has a keyframe at the start point. Right click the keyframe & select clone. This places another keyframe on the time line Move this to where you want the zoom to end. Then simply either drag the image outwards - grab handles in corner or adjust the zoom parameter to what you want Very easy once you understand Jill

If you look in the animation tab you will see that each parameter - Pan, Zoom etc has a box next to it with a tick. Clone keeps all the current settings for a key frame. So if you have adjusted anything, they are replicated in the cloned keyframe & all the boxes remain ticked Add will leave all the boxes unticked & you can tick & adjust the ones you need. Also Adding a keyframe will place the new keyframe at the end of the following transition. Cloning place the new keyframe 1/2 sec after the one you are cloning. It depends how you work, but I always clone & move the keyframe to the position I want. I would rather have all boxes ticked & reset any that I want, rather than having to retick all those that I want to remain the same. Jill

to add a screen grab, look at the bottom of the window where you type your reply. There is a paperclip & it says Drag files here to attach or choose files. Just drag your image from Windows explorer or click the Choose Files & find the one you want to add. Jill

If all of your files are already in your Template folder, then you can work on the project and save the .pte file. If you resave as a template again it will make another folder. I find it best to set up a new folder in a dedicated place and bring everything into there, with subfolders for images, sounds etc. Save the .PTE file regularly with a new name as you work. Say project1, project2 etc. That way you can easily go back a step if you don't like what you have done in the latest changes. Then once I am happy it is complete I then save as a template. Jill

Depends on the content and image file sizes, some MP4 can be smaller than the exe. All video file types and exe play over Zoom. Some slow dissolves or very fast movement can look jerky but it mainly comes down to your upload speed. We have had the same file play perfectly one day then the next it is juddery. And we have a fast upload. Think it can depend on how many neighbours are online at the same time! Jill

So does the Template. Just transfer the .pt folder to the Template folder on the laptop and again it will be available from within PTE. The backup zip is useful if you need to send to someone else over the internet. Jill

Agree, use a Template. This also has the advantage of being available within PTE, so is easy to select. Jill

you can get Google earth to do a fly in & then save it as an MP4 & use that in PTE Jill

Thanks Igor, thought it was most likely me. The mouse has a sticky right click, so doesn't always work first time. My mouse on my Win7 PC no longer scrolls, so I need some new ones. Jill

Not sure if I have this insider preview, don't think so. But I have noticed that full screen preview - started by right click in mini preview window - sometimes starts behind the main PTE window. Thought it was just my mouse as it doesn't always right click easily, but could be a bug? Not noticed any problems on my windows 7 pc, but that is a different mouse and works ok. Jill

You enter the key by clicking on Help then selecting enter new license key. If this still doesn't work, then try to uninstall & reinstall PTE. Jill

It appears that any changes made to a Master Video once it is set up don't work correctly. 1. Speed change set up a Master Video on Slide 1 in a Mask Copy the Mask container to Slide 2 & it is correctly shown as Link to video If I then decide I want the video to run slower or faster & change the speed - on slide 1 It changes correctly in the Trim Video Window - original time 1:51.860 Change speed to 200% new time in Trim window shows 0:55.930 but the duration in the O&A Properties tab remains unchanged - still shows 1:51.860 The actual speed is changed to 200% & it continues to run for the new duration of 0:55.930 Both Slide 1 & Slide 2 show the original time in Properties Tab But the Trim Video Windows both show the new time. 2. Change Video for a different one New Project with 2 slides In O&A Add a Video to slide 1 (this is just added directly on top of the slide) Make it a Master Video Copy the Video Object to Slide 2 using CTRL+C & CTRL+V It is correctly linked to the Master Video on Slide 1 On Slide 1 in O&A Properties Tab, change the Video for a different one by clicking the down arrow in Picture The Name, Picture & Object Name all show the new video name correctly BUT the actual image in the O&A window still shows & plays the original video Move to Slide 2 - using the arrows at top of O&A window The new replaced video shows in O&A main Window - but shows the last frame Properties Tab shows Picture as the correct new file name But Name, Object Name & Link to video name still show the original The new video does not play but stays at the same last frame If I then move back to Slide 1 there is no image of the video at all Just the handles around the Object. Even if click off the video & back on again Moving back to Slide 2 it now doesn't show Back in Main PTE window no video shows at all, just the still background images. On checking the Trim Video window on Slide 1 it shows the start point & Time right at the end of the video with a duration of zero. Moving to Slide 2 the image of the new Video now shows (again last frame) but doesn't play, but the Trim window shows the pointer & start time at the beginning of the Video but the duration is still that of the original video. Hope you can follow all of this & can find what is causing it. I haven't sent a project as hopefully you can follow the steps. I have tried using different videos & it always causes problems, so it isn't the video itself causing the errors. These were all videos converted in PTE9 on Windows 7 The above testing has been done in Windows 7 using PTE 10.0.11 Build 8 But the errors have also occured on my new Windows 10 PC using new unconverted videos. This currently running PTE 10.0.8 Build 4 I haven't tried to create the 2nd problem in my original post as it was getting too complicated just working out what was happening in a simple case. If you can find & fix the above issues then maybe the other problem will go away as well. Jill

I have been advised to measure the time it takes me to read my own text and then double that time for the reader. Would you agree that this can be a good starting point? jmg, this is good advice and one that we always give. Especially if the text is in an unusual font. even for just a title we recommend that. The author knows what it says, the audience had to read and digest before you give them any more information. Jill

I have tried that as well. My initial setup was with the offset. As I said above I have tried all sorts of variations. Even just using a single image & a straight video - no masks - with an offset it doesn't work. Another problem I have just encountered when trying to add in a 2nd mask & video. Even though the Mask contents should different file names, it was only showing one video in both Masks. Lots of problems. Maybe Igor can have a look Trying to get this finished for a public show, so having to use workarounds which makes it more difficult Jill

That is exactly what I have done and yes that works. But as soon as I put an offset on the video on slide 1 it no longer works. Jill

I am trying to run a video over 2 (or more) slides. PTE10 but also tried in PTE9 It is in a Mask, but I don't think that is causing the problem I insert the video on slide 1 Set the start time (1:27.768) & an Offset of 6 secs I set it to Master Video Copy the Video (along with the Mask) to Slide 2 It automatically sets it as a Linked video. I change the offset back to zero on slide 2. When I play the sequence, the video starts playing after 6 secs on slide 1 - correct It continues playing smoothly for the duration of the Transition - correct Then at the end of the Transition the video jumps back to it's start point & sits for 6 secs before playing again I have tried various Transition durations includeing zero - all the same problem Help! what am I doing wrong or is it a bug? I have tried various tests - running the video straight without a Mask leaving the offset as 0 before copying to slide 2 changing slide 1 back to single video then changing the offset & change back to Master Video But whatever I try I cannot get it to work correctly. I am sure I have done this in the past without problems. Tried on 3 PC's Windows 10, Windows 7 & a Windows 8.1 recently updated to 10 Jill PS If I make the transition longer than the offset on slide 1 then the video continues playing smoothly for the duration of slide 2 But if I then reduce the transition time back to less than the offset it does the jump as above. Even if I change the offset to zero it still seems to remember the original time & jumps on slide 2. So a strange bug PPS If I initially make the video on slide 1 start from 0 & have 0 offset, then it all works OK If I then try to add an offset to slide 1 it doesn't do it. Although the offset time is set to 6 secs the video still plays from the start of the slide. If I change slide 1 back to single video, the offset works. But as soon as I change it back to Master Video the problem with slide 2 occurs. I have now tried so many variations & order of doing things, but I cannot get it to work correctly

Click on the white box next to the bold etc. This is the colour, you can use the eyedropper to pick up a colour from the image if you want. To scroll you use keyframes. Set your text at the start position for the first keyframe. Add another keyframe at the point you want the text to stop scrolling and then move the text to that position. PTE will do the rest. It really is easy. Jill

You can do the same with WeTransfer. Send it to yourself, then send the link to anyone else. The link is only active for 7 days. We use it all the time for sending AV's. If you do send to someone else's email, the advantage is that you receive an email when they download it. 2gb limit on the free version. Jill

For frames and masks I set the object name with something descriptive. Not as good as a comment but it helps. Jill
