  1. I reproduced this problem. It seems that Windows XP can not display icon for executable file larger than ~700 MB. And it does not matter, default icon or custom icon. Windows 7 displays correctly icon for same executable file. We tested even with 1.5 GB EXE file. Everything is OK.
  2. Interesting idea. Thanks, Barry
  3. Let start from beginning. If I understand rightly, Barry and Peter watch slideshow in executable format. Not as video file. Right?
  4. Barry, Peter, I think Eric is right. Please try export slideshow as FullHD video in H.264 format and play in video player to compare with executable file.
  5. Hi, Please send me sample video file. I'll check up. P.S. Right now we're migrating to a new version of ffmpeg library for better support video various video formats. It should solves problems with certain files. I'm expecting this change in version 7.1 or 7.5.
  6. Robert, No changes for the timeline mode in version 7.0 or 7.0.1. It same as in 6.5
  7. PicturesToExe Deluxe 7.0.1 is available now Download: http://www.wnsoft.com/files/picturestoexe/picturestoexe-setup.exe (12 MB) List of changes: + "Keep full slide duration" option has been moved to the main window of PicturesToExe and it's disabled by default. * Improved quality of video for iPad. * Fixed bugs with slide duration. * Fixed problem with the Objects and animation editor on some old Intel video cards. * Fixed freezing of the Project option window with Korean language. * Minor bug-fixes.
  8. For all members. Thank you again for your contribution in discussion of this complex question! I'm afraid we are not able reach consensus, because each of two timing systems has own benefits and side effects. We prefer leave things as is according the latest version 7.0.1 Beta. I'd like to remind that by default version 7.0.1 will suggest users the old timing system. Existing users will not see any changes since version 6.5.
  9. Jill, Please experiment with this project on your PC. Source files: http://www.wnsoft.com/files/test/timing-system/Video.zip (4 MB)
  10. Howard, There was a similar problem with Avast antivirus recently. They have cured it. Please make sure that you're using the latest updated version. Ken, I was invited to the conference in the Roerich Museum
  11. Sample project to illustrate problems with old timing system 1. I've added one video clip to the slide list and two photos with different transition effect durations: http://www.wnsoft.com/files/test/timing-system/Video-New-Timing.exe 2. Using old timing mode (6.5 or 7.0.1 with disabled option "Keep full slide duration") I've moved 1st slide with the video clip to a position between 2nd and 3rd slides. Here is a result: http://www.wnsoft.com/files/test/timing-system/Video-Old-Timing-AfterMoving.exe You can clearly observe the problem I've described above. This problem will not occur if you use new timing system (7.0.0). Source files of this project: http://www.wnsoft.com/files/test/timing-system/Video.zip (4 MB)
  12. Jill, Thanks for your reply! 1. If you add video clip to the slide list, slide also will same duration as its video clips. Both have 20 seconds. After moving of this slide to another position, the slide will has different total duration (because of next transition effect). So the total slide duration can be 18 seconds or 22 seconds. It can be strange behaviour of the program for new users. This problem occurs only with old timing system. 2. Same for slides with complex animation. It's possible to put keypoints for objects on grey part of next transition effect. You rightly said. But after moving of a slide, this slide will obtain another transition effect with different duration. If you placed several keypoints on the area of next transition effect (3 seconds for example) animation may look wrong if transition effect will be 5 seconds. You can not easily move slides in the slide list with old timing system.
  13. Jill, It's a correct behaviour because the program keeps untouched total slide duration (pure time + next transition effect). P.S. Please also see my reply here:
  14. I think it's a normal situation when developers are trying to find better ways to improve a software product. Sometimes we're successful in new findings, sometimes we couldn't predict flaws in a new design. With your help and we can discover our mistakes and fix them. As I told in another topic, we reverted to the old slide timing in version 7.0.1. Jill, Two examples when the new slide duration mode works better than old mode: 1. Add one photo (1st slide). Add video clip (2nd slide). Add several photos (3,4,5 slides) and set different transition effect durations for them. Now move 2nd slide (video clip) to another place in the slide list. You can see that this video clip will cropped or will stop earlier during playback if you use old slide duration mode. New system doesn't have this problem. 2. You have several slides. 2nd slide has several objects with complex animation with several keypoints at different time points. You designed keypoints of this slide for exactly 10 seconds. Now if you move this slide to another place in the list list only with the new time mode this slide will be rightly shown in your project. I saw many AV shows where authors used complex animation for certain slides. How difficult to re-arrange these slides in the old versions! You need to correct slide duration manually after moving of slides. New time mode in version 7.0.0 automatically take care for this issue. It simply works. So I regret that new time mode was not welcomed due to another workflow + temporal bugs. I will prepare two sample projects to illustrate these cases.
  15. I published updated v7.0.1 BETA today. Please find my comment and download link here:
  16. I posted updated PicturesToExe Deluxe 7.0.1 BETA http://www.wnsoft.com/files/test/picturestoexe-setup-701-beta.exe I hope it solves all previous problems. And I apologize for caused inconveniences due to missed bugs! Several important clarifications: 1. I'd like to remind that since version 7.0.1 (the official release will be publish soon on our website) we will use old time mode by default as in version 6.5 and earlier. All new users will see usual workflow with slide duration. 2. This updated version 7.0.1 Beta (published today) should fix strange problems and bugs with timing and related options. 3. You can use new time mode. Set checked "Keep full slide duration" option on the main window. No need to restart PicturesToExe or start new project. Changing of this option has an immediate effect and the Project options will also display correct default slide time value.
  17. I sent three emails to AVG company to get solution of this problem with false positive. P.S. Sorry for late reply, I had a 3 day's trip to Moscow.
  18. PicturesToExe accepts text on your native language and some foreign languages (in same language group). We plan improve language support in the next version. Regarding executable slideshows. They can display any text not depending on language or country. If you create a slideshow with French text, a user from Brazil can see your text exactly as you designed it.
  19. Only v7.0 executables. We need to wait when AVG fixes this false positive. I think it will take 1-2 days.
  20. Thanks, I just sent a report to AVG company about this false positive. Please also send your reports to AVG company to speed solution of this problem.
  21. Well, we did it. Please try updated version 7.0.1 Beta: http://www.wnsoft.com/files/test/picturestoexe-setup-701-beta.exe 1. Option "Keep full slide duration" turned off by default now. New users will use old timing system (as in version 6.5). 2. This option ("Keep full slide duration") has been moved to the main window of PicturesToExe. 3. We've fixed all logical bugs if you use this new timing mode. Please let me know what you think? I hope this change will please all users
  22. I can suggest the following solution. 1. Find same file "unins000.msg" in a folder of the final version 7.0. 2. Copy this file to the folder of version 7.0 Beta 14/15. 3. Then please try uninstall again Beta 14/15.
  23. PicturesToExe Deluxe 7.0.1 BETA is available now. View | Advanced Options). * Minor bug-fixes.
  24. First of all, thank you for your comments and suggestions! Please try an updated version 7.0.1 Beta: http://www.wnsoft.com/files/test/picturestoexe-setup-701-beta.exe It solves several problems related with the new slide duration. We need to separate temporal bugs from logical problems (flaws in design). Personally we like the new time system (in version 7.0). We find it simple and suitable for various cases. I really sorry that it caused such problems and misunderstandings. Probably it was difficult to understand this problem because I don't create complex AVs or have different working style. How to separate real logical problems from habits? Peter, thanks for this interesting idea! I didn't think about this. I think PicturesToExe should have some solution for video slides and for slides with complex animation (where keypoints require fixed full slide duration). And I see one of the following: 1. Use new slide duration conception introduced in v7.0 (by default or not - it's a another question). 2. The idea of Peter. Add a new option for a slide - "Keep full duration of this slide". And enable this option automatically for video clips added as slides to the Slide list. On first glance it works, but it's one more option for user and different behaviour of slides within one project. 3. Implement one change to the old time mode of slide duration (as in version 6.5). After re-ordering of slides with video clips analize slides before this change. If a video clip had exactly same duration with full slide duration then perform automatical time correction for this slide only. The benefit of this idea - it's an automatic solution and applicable for slides with video clips only. No new options. Please let me know what you think?
  25. Thanks for the confirmation!
