Discussion of PTE AV Studio 10.5 for Windows (Beta)
tom95521 replied to Igor's topic in General Discussion
Maybe the player as a separate beta in the future. We can already create Mac .ptshow files in 10.5. It is interesting when I tried replacing the PC version of Sample Project.ptshow with the Mac version the file sizes were different. The PC version was 30 MB and the Mac was 19 MB. The Mac .ptshow must have a different data format than PC. Tom -
Downloaded. So many stars in the universe. Great looking planets. Thanks, Tom
-
Hi Denis, The planets look great. I didn't know someone had created rotating spheres almost 7 years ago. I tried to open on my Mac Mini but since the Mac slideshow was created during the 32 bit era it would not run on Big Sur which is 64 bit only. Also Mac apps have to be authorized by Apple now. Maybe the slideshow.dat file can be converted to a slideshow.ptshow file. I will ask Igor. Thanks, Tom

I don't know if this would be an accurate projection transformation. I have not tested with the styles. https://www.winski.net/globus-projector/simplified/ Tom

To convert from 2D to 3D I thought it would require a sinusoidal gore. I need to watch the tutorial video. Thanks, Tom

Discussion of PTE AV Studio 10.5 for Windows (Beta)
tom95521 replied to Igor's topic in General Discussion
I might have missed a posting about the subject but will the Windows version of PTE have a separate player like the Mac version? I think the .ptshow data only format is ideal for sharing and playing larger than 4 GB files. This would be in addition to existing .exe and .zip formats, not replace them. Thanks, Tom -
Do you need special software to create Gore image format for spheres? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gore_(segment) https://www.giss.nasa.gov/tools/gprojector/ Thanks, Tom

https://webglsamples.org/aquarium/aquarium.html Using Chrome my Nvidia 1660 is a solid 60 fps until 10000 fish then drops to 48 fps Using Chrome my Mac Mini M1 is a solid 60 fps until 10000 fish then drops to 50 fps Almost identical performance but the Mac Mini M1 uses about 30 watts while the Nvidia card itself is about 120 watts. Both Mac and Windows computers play very smooth PTE slideshows. Tom

Very nice. 3D animation is great! Thanks, Tom

This is very interesting watching the circular tracing motion of an object in PTE. Always something new to learn. Thanks, Tom

This is the only method I could imagine to combine multiple slideshows into one (we have no option to "Go to slide name" under Slide Options). Is there a better method other than a linear slideshow and inserting the same menu between slideshows? I am trying to avoid run external slideshow. Thanks, Tom Short 3 slideshow example. Action on mouse click - Go to time [SOLVED]
tom95521 replied to tom95521's topic in Suggestions for Next Versions
Hi Rosy, Yes. The great thing about PTE is that there are so many different ways to do things. I just need to be flexible enough to bend my way of thinking instead of hitting a brick wall. Thanks, Tom -
Action on mouse click - Go to time [SOLVED]
tom95521 replied to tom95521's topic in Suggestions for Next Versions
By watching the video and marking the location. I admit I can do the same thing using the master/link video option and inserting custom transition point (+) in timeline view plus fine tuning using slide start timer adjustment to the right. I usually don't use variable length slide duration timed to music or a video scene. It's just a different way of thinking that I am used to (video editors that can split video). Old habits die hard. Thanks, Tom -
Action on mouse click - Go to time [SOLVED]
tom95521 replied to tom95521's topic in Suggestions for Next Versions
Unless I am missing something I still have to adjust each slide duration in the timeline so that the next slide starts at the proper time in the video. I find it hard to preview the video while changing the slide duration, but probably just need to practice. I have tried slide view and timeline view and it's hard to get an accurate position in the video. Thanks. I will keep playing with the option until it becomes easier. Tom -
Action on mouse click - Go to time [SOLVED]
tom95521 replied to tom95521's topic in Suggestions for Next Versions
In timeline view I can set the red line time cursor and right click on the video and select "Trim Beginning of Video". The end of the video can be set by click and drag. Is this the method you are using to adjust the transition points? If it is fast and simple then I'm all for using that method. -
Action on mouse click - Go to time [SOLVED]

Hi JT, I don't think I would use a feature that requires me to offset the start time of the video for multiple slides. If absolute time reference is not a solution then maybe slide name + relative time is a better solution. Another possible solution would be if we could name keyframes we could have the button action "Go to Keyframe". I'm sure there is a workable solution that saves time. My specific use is a training video slideshow with F1 window that has chapter markers to offset into video. Thanks, Tom -
It's happening again. Bitcoin price is high and bitcoin miners are buying up the most powerful graphics cards and even gaming laptops for mining. So there is a low supply of graphics cards or if available they are overpriced due to ebay scalpers . If you need a new card you might have to buy an Nvidia 1050 ti. Also the newest fab technology ( < 10nm) is in high demand and limited supply. Some car manufacturers are waiting on silicon chips. https://www.engadget.com/nvidia-revives-the-gtx-1050-ti-in-the-face-of-gpu-shortages-113533736.html https://wccftech.com/over-14000-nvidia-gpus-have-been-sold-on-ebay-this-year-alone/

Action on mouse click - Go to time [SOLVED]
tom95521 posted a topic in Suggestions for Next Versions
We have "Go to Slide With Name". It works great for photos but not for long duration videos. It would be great if we could jump to a specific time in the slideshow. It would be useful for video bookmarks since we do not have an easy method to split video like we have for audio. -
I think after you spend more time using the software it will be less of a problem. PTE is like a musical instrument, if you practice you will get better. You might try adding your videos after you apply the default duration to your slides (Project Options, Main, Timing, Default slide duration). Some users like to time their slide durations to the music using the + - transition point option on the timeline tab. Thanks, Tom
-
That is the method I use. Before we had the separate audio from video option (right click on timeline video object), there was a different method that I think still works. You have to mute the video and then import the video again as an audio track (change file type option to video). Tom

It sounds like a great idea. There is a sub forum where you can post your suggestion. https://www.pteavstudio.com/forums/forum/9-suggestions-for-next-versions/ Tom

I am using a custom window (Project Options, Advanced, Custom windows, Show settings) for a F1 help/navigation menu so I can jump to a specific slide. The button action on mouse click - "go to slide with name" are missing names. It is possible to select a slide name/number button action from a non-custom window slide. I can make it work if I copy a non-custom slide with buttons and paste the button objects into a custom slide. Maybe not a bug but if possible add go to slide with name to custom windows. I have checked PTE 9 and PTE 10. Neither work unless I use the alternative method. Thanks, Tom

Hi Martin, Welcome to the forum. Yes, it can play video clips and much more. You might try the free trial version. If you have questions there are many users eager to help. https://www.wnsoft.com/en/pte-av-studio/download/ Tom
