  1. Can I add an observation to the discussion which I've noticed recently in making my slideshows. I'm using PTE 7.0.3 by the way. I often make DVDs for friends using Videobuilder,to play through DVD players on their TVs, and they are fine and as expected. If I use my computer to play those same DVDs, sometimes I see quite a lot of shimmering, but only when the player is Windows Media Player. If I play THE SAME DVDs with VLC media player or Roxio Cineplayer, for example, there is no shimmering at all. So my question is : Has anyone else experienced this shimmering/flickering effect just with Windows Media Player (v12)?
  2. Same with me Regards wideangle
  3. Just an observation. I've noticed that theDom hasn't been appearing for quite a while now and his website hasn't changed in quite a long time. Regards, wideangle
  4. Igor A small bug I think in 7.0.1 :- I've been using the 'Publish' option to create a version of a slideshow for Ipad and Iphone. I got to the 'Save As' stage and tried to save it with a filename which already existed (say Ipadfile), and quite rightly, was asked if I would like to replace the existing file. However, when I said yes, instead of replacing and overwriting the file, it created a new one called Ipadfile2. Regards, wideangle
  5. I'm a long-standing supporter of 'Create backup in zip' for every PTE project I do, which avoids all the problems, but wouldn't it be great if the remapping of filepaths was an option in PTE to get round the problems lots of other people seem to have? Regards, wideangle
  6. Jim Load up PTE then click 'Help' on the Menu bar at the top of the screen. Now click on 'About PicturesToExe...' This will tell you the state of your Deluxe licence. Regards, wideangle
  7. I agree wholeheartedly with the idea of a global setting for border and colour, as mentioned by JEB in post #6 and nobeefstu in post #7. I feel that displaying a border to a whole set of slides is a popular action for shows, and that currently it is a significant omission here. There is another thread which is talking about making the package more user-friendly for beginners (with the idea of a 'wizard' for example). I would suggest that the process of having to copy and paste throughout a whole sequence of slides, just to get a border, is more likely to put people off than to encourage them. Regards, wideangle
  8. Maybe adding some sort of 'Wizard' startup option, as is common in so many pieces of software, at some time in the future may be helpful and useful for new users. Regards, wideangle
  9. I've just noticed a small problem with setting a colour using the colour palette for backgrounds, shadow colours etc. With the colour palette open on Style 1 showing RGB and HSL settings, try clicking in the R, G or B box to delete the existing value using the Delete key. It always leaves one digit in the box. Using the slider works fine, so not a big issue. (Don't know if this occurred in previous versions) Regards, wideangle
  10. Gayland, On the other hand, you're never too old to learn! Have another look at the music panel settings. They are easy and quick once you have realised what each setting does. Regards, wideangle. (By the way, I used to be indecisive but now I'm not so sure.)
  11. Hi Graham, On the Menu Bar at the top of the PTE screen, go to View -> Advanced Options -> Choose Display for Preview. Regards, wideangle
  12. Three issues seem to have evolved here. 1. The invitation to view a slideshow, which in my view is excellent. 2. The creeping in of a few personal comments, which in my view is uncalled for and unnecessary. 3. The wider issue of whether adverts relating to third party products should be allowed on the forum. Is this really any different from a forum member suggesting the use of a third party product to do something (eg batch renaming) - I don't think so. Any reference to third party products which will help us to achieve better things with PTE in my view is to be applauded. My twopenneth for what it's worth! Regards, wideangle
  13. This issue seems to crop up all too often in the forum, and there are usually helpful answers forthcoming, describing a variety of methods of working. My approach is simple. EVERY TIME YOU CREATE A NEW PTE SHOW, go to File -> Create Backup in Zip. This collects together in a new zipped folder all the PTE components AND a copy of the slides involved. There's your backup copy. Simple innit! Regards, wideangle
  14. ..........and I thought that you only got one birthday each year!!!!!
  15. Agreed. The forum is littered with far too many issues relating to registration etc, which is not a very good advert for the product or prospective customers. If it is a problem caused by the host, it needs rectifying.
  16. I use basically the same method as Xaver, but when listening to the music I simply tap the spacebar when I want to place a slide. This pauses the play, so I can now drag a slide to that position. Pressing the spacebar again continues the play, so I repeat the process. Regards, wideangle
  17. Obviously a great deal of effort has gone into this show, and it was well worth it - a superb effort! Some people say that animation should only be used in moderation, but I thought that this was some of the best and most effective animation that I have seen in P2E. It was excellent. Thank you. Regards, wideangle
  18. I think that the next phase of PTE development is very exciting - really looking forward to it! wideangle
  19. I have W7 Professional 64 bit and also W7 Home Premium 32 bit, and it works perfectly on those, exactly as spelled out by Lin above. That's with the most recent 6.5 release of P2E, but it still worked with earlier releases. Regards, wideangle. (Glad to see you back in contact again, Lin. We just need TheDom back again, after his ill-health which he mentioned on his site)
  20. Another old chestnut rears its head again! I know that once you've got the problem you need to find the solution, but 'prevention is better than cure' is shouting out. Go to File then Make a Backup in Zip for every show you create, as a matter of routine, and you'll never have that problem. The bonus is that you DO then have a backup. Regards, wideangle
  21. It still works in the latest version in the same way as it has done in previous versions. Open the first show. Highlight the slides you wish to copy. Click on Slide -> Copy Slide. Now open your second show and click in the slide window at the position where you want to insert the slides. Go to Slide -> Paste Slide. Voila! (Right-clicking on the highlighted slides also gives y0u the option to copy etc) Regards wideangle
  22. Hi Yachtsman1, I guess you ought to edit your reply email as well, since it is still shown in there. Regards, wideangle
  23. Hi, When the window pops up to show you which beta to base settings on, there is actually a drop-down triangle to click on which allows you to choose any one of your previously installed betas, so you would have seen beta 10, beta 11 etc listed. Hope this helps. Regards, wideangle
  24. Eric, I enjoyed it. I always like the painty, artistic types of show. It's good to see something different for a change - there doesn't seem to be too much variety of this type around at the moment. Was it a Photoshop approach? Regards, wideangle
  25. Hi Eric Thanks for the show. Yes it is a hidden jewel - I was only there yesterday! I guess you may know about what is even more of a hidden jewel in that area - Hackfall Woodlands (with lots of follies) near Masham. Maybe it's time for a visit there with your camera!! Regards, wideangle
