  1. I hope that it is just a document, and not a book Regards, Xaver
  2. Hi Ed, with additive blending you can achieve effects which you cannot realize with the opacity function. Here is an example: Consider two analogue projectors where each one is loaded with a low-key image, one having a highlight on the right side, the other one with a highlight on the left side. Both projectors shall run with a lightness of about 90%. How to do this in the digital situation if you do not have Wings or m.objects? Putting one image on top of the other and reducing opacity to 50% will lead to a flat result. If you put the images into PS layers, reduce lightness a little bit, and then use blending mode "screen", you will obtain a 3rd image giving a similar result as in the analogue situation. Regards, Xaver
  3. Hi Ed, I think that it is difficult to have asymmetric dissolves directly within PTE, and I don’t think that it can easily be done in PSG. Analogue projectors are controlled via lightness (which can be chosen individually) and they naturally blend images in an additive way. Blending in PTE (using fade in/out transitions or using the opacity function in O&A) is totally based on alpha-composition (alpha-blending), and this is symmetric in nature. In Wings Platinum and m.objects you program transitions via light curves, and these curves can be modeled for all images individually. As blending modes you can choose alpha-blending, but the standard mode is a kind of additive blending (I guess it is similar to the layer blending mode "screen" in Photoshop). As a workaround your friend may use normal fade in/out transitions in PTE via externally generated 3rd images. Best regards, Xaver
  4. So, let's do our best! Best regards, Xaver
  5. Maybe not! As far as I know, the registration of PTE and of the Video builder are independent actions with two separate keys. Regards, Xaver
  6. Eyes, Can you upload a zip-backup of your project somewhere (e.g. Mediafire)? Some experienced users may have a look at it. Regards, Xaver
  7. rrr, Please look at Peter's FAQ, see here! Hope, this helps. Regards, Xaver Munich
  8. Please give us some more detailed information! Regards, Xaver Munich
  9. Issue 1 sounds like a performance problem. Do the animations run smooth on your laptop? Did you resize your images? Issue 2 should not happen if "Synchronize music and slides" is checked! Regards, Xaver Munich
  10. At present time, I think that the best way to handle the problem of image sizes is provided by Wings Platinum and m.objects. There you can use images of arbitrary sizes, while the presentation software can automatically pre-process its own graphics data as it is needed for the monitor/projector in use. For each exe-file to be created, the user can specify the optimal resolution. Regards, Xaver
  11. I think that it would be good to have a few more (well chosen) sections. Last year I made the proposal to open a particular off-topic section (for discussions on Virus SW, Service Packs for Windows etc.), but without any success. Strict moderation should be treated with care. Some time ago, two very similar threads of this forum were merged by a moderator, with the effect that the new unified thread came up with a destroyed flow of discussion. Regards, Xaver
  12. I am pretty sure that my humor is not to everyone's taste, but I do not like very much ponderous debates on subjects which I consider trivial in nature. I'm sorry! Regards, Xaver
  13. Argonaut, Thanks a lot for your friendly advice! I would like to continue this communication, but I fear that in this case we would be accused for making this topic loose its way Best regards, Xaver
  14. Barry complains about existing users who try to help others by adding off topic stuff. Ken complains about new users opening new topic in wrong sections. These are quite different subjects. So it seems that Barry’s topic has already lost its way Regards, Xaver
  15. I regard it as a bit too easy, just posing these questions. I would like to read some proposals or suggestions. Regards, Xaver
  16. Eric, Lasciate ogni speranza, voi ch'entrate! (Abandon hope, all ye who enter here!) Regards, Xaver
  17. Barry, Regarding Shakespeare and this thread, let me offer you a multiple choice: - As You Like It - All’s Well That Ends Well - Much Ado about Nothing Best regards, Xaver
  18. Stu, A nice little helper. A minor flaw: Users with a German OS do not see the letter "ß" (special kind of double "s"). Also words containing an umlaut (ä, ö, ü) are misspelled. Question: What will French users see? Regards, Xaver
  19. Lazlo, I thought that your question has already been answered. Presently, PTE does not support video objects. An outline of a possible workaround can be seen here. In order to learn more on the specific example, you may send a PM to Jean-Pierre (JPD). Regards, Xaver
  20. I am sorry to say, but this discussion reminds me a little bit of Mr. Shakespeare. Best regards, Xaver
  21. A present time I use the feature "Fixed size of slide" with a width of 1400. This precisely matches the width of the projector I sometimes use, and it also works well on my monitor (1680x1050). So resizing only takes place on PCs with small monitors. Regards, Xaver
  22. Peter, Just a question: For each image in the object list of a slide you can choose Edge antialiasing, Blur, Anti-shimmering, Low quality of resizing. Would any of this features make a sense if the resizing/resampling would not be done by the application itself. Normally the graphics card feeds the projector with a resolution according to the projector's features, here 1024x768 or lower. What may happen is that the projected image looks distorted, in cases where you choose graphics settings for the PC with an aspect ratio that does not fit the one of the projector. Regards, Xaver
  23. Dave, Are you looking for the shadow templates published by user "thedom"? They still can be downloaded. Regards, Xaver
  24. Peter, A simple test shows that you are right: Open a new project, insert a slide and rotate the corresponing image in the file panel. Export the project as a zip-file. Open the zipped project on another machine, or open it on the same machine after having changed the path to the original images. In the (former) zipped project the said image obviously is to be seen without rotation. Regards, Xaver
  25. - Highly sophisticated treatment of masks and shadows - Obvious deficiencies regarding perspective (PTE is not (yet) a tool for 3D modeling) - Demo does not run smooth on my system (Nvidia 8500 GT) Applying templates of this kind for the presentation of someone's photos surely is a matter of taste (but not mine). But I like to watch these demos as kind of brainteasers to find out how the effects have been realized, even if I do not intend to apply them. Regards, Xaver
