  1. Hi all, There are several forum members who show hypersensitive reactions when a discussion on version 4.xx starts. Let me point out once more that I do not object using 4.xx. I have just installed 4.49 and had a short look at it. Let me try to give a first impression as positive as possible for me: 4.49 is a very minimalistic slide show tool. To me it appears to be outdated, and it could never have been my choice. Of course, this is a matter of taste. In my opinion, one thing should be avoided: 4.xx should not be offered to new users as an alternative to the current version, as it would place PTE behind its competitors. Furthermore, it would put pressure on WnSoft to maintain 4.xx, and to provide further support. If WnSoft should again offer 4.xx for normal download (and not just via a deep link), it should be made very clear that this is not the product to buy, but only an old version without any further maintenance and support. Regards, Xaver
  2. Does this post provide some help? Regards, Xaver
  3. debibelt, Just another option: You can use a transparent frame of native size 500x400 with an "original mode" embedding (via size/position tool). This frame can be copied into every slide. The small images then can be added as children of the frames. But I fear that you will not like this one either!? Best regards, Xaver
  4. - Go to the O&A window for some slide - Add a button - Highlight the button in the Objects list - In the Common tab: choose any action on mouse click - In the Properties tab you now have 3 fields to choose colors for your button. - Choose different colors and test it during full screen preview (not in the O&A-player, not in the mini player) Best regards, Xaver
  5. Jenni, You may try another option: Keep the structure of 3 shows. For your 2nd exe file, use as action for your button "Run slideshow" (without return) in order to go to the 3rd show. For the 3rd exe file: Go to 'Project Options > More' and use the command "Run slideshow" to be run on exit, here to go back to the 1st show. Best regards, Xaver Munich
  6. Daniel, 1) For buttons the mouse cursor should not show a change, but you can configure the button in a way that it shows a change when the mouse cursor hits it. 2) See here! I have made a suggestion on this subject. Best regards, Xaver Munich
  7. What kind of sports? Maybe unknown in Germany Regards, Xaver
  8. Your logic seems to be different from mine. This typically leads to contradictory views (at least in my logic) - why not Regrads, Xaver
  9. Pan - Zoom - Rotation Regards, Xaver
  10. Brian, I do not want to withdraw v4, neither from you nor from anybody else. I've never used it, and I will never do so. But I could easily understand if WnSoft would prefer to get rid of it. Best regards, Xaver
  11. Ken, If WnSoft would go on to offer the download of the old version, it would have to maintain the product. This is what Igor said on version 4 (August 13 2008): "...we won't issue new v4.4x versions (too old code - difficult to continue improvements)..." Best regards, Xaver
  12. Adding a second image has to be done via the O&A window, and the new image is automatically highlighted (Take care that it will not be inserted as a child object, as in this case it will not be inserted relative to the screen, but relative to the parent object). You can leave the "Size/position in pixels" window open, this will save one step. Clicking on the word "size" isn't that much work. Regards, Xaver
  13. Photofanatic, For a newcomer I would not recommend to program a panorama pan via 2 or more slides. I this case you not only have to care for correct positions during the transition, but also for the speed of the image movements. Having an ongoing animation of a single object via several slides is not really compatible with the PTE programming concept. It seems to be better to program the show section while the panorama is panning within a single slide. Best regards, Xaver Munich
  14. I asked for the settings in PTE > Project Options > Screen. But, reading that you do not have a separate graphics card, I fear that your PC isn't that well suited for running animated slide shows in D3D fullscreen mode. The system requirements propose a video card with (at least) 128 MB of video memory. Can you make an upgrade? Best regards, Xaver
  15. Avie, Please give us some information on the resolution of your images, on the screen settings in PTE, and on your PC (e.g. CPU, RAM, Graphics card, operating system, version of DirectX). Do you use old drivers for your graphics card? Best regards, Xaver Munich
  16. Ron, Is there anything that can be accomplished with version 4 that can't be done with version 5? Should WnSoft really adapt version 4 to future operating systems, wouldn't that be a waste of resources? By the way: There isn't any longer a download link for version 4 on the WnSoft website. Best regards, Xaver
  17. I've just sent an e-mail. Regards, Xaver
  18. Hi, When we use the action on mouse click "Go to slide number 25" (while we see slide 7, say), it happens that slide 24 is to be seen, and immediately the transition to slide 25 is shown (provided there is a transition at all). I do not like this behavior that much, and I would like to propose the following option: On mouse click the corresponding slide (slide 7) freezes (animation stops), and the frozen image is taken instead of slide 24 during the transition to slide 25. Best regards, Xaver
  19. Den, You may try the following: - In Show1, instead of using 'Run Slideshow with return' (action on mouseclick) use the command 'Run Slideshow', command line: "....Show2.exe". - In the second show (Show2.exe), called by the first one, use 'Run Slideshow' in Project Options > More with the command line: "....Show1.exe" -slide 27 (provided that you want to retun to slide 27) Good luck. I did not test this procedure! Regards, Xaver
  20. Mike, Maybe it is better to exchange created backups in ZIP ( File menu, or Alt+B ). Best regards, Xaver
  21. From msdn.microsoft.com: ... the older MS-DOS FAT file system supports a maximum of 8 characters for the base file name and 3 characters for the extension, for a total of 12 characters including the dot separator. This is commonly known as an 8.3 file name. The Windows FAT and NTFS file systems are not limited to 8.3 file names, because they have long file name support. There are additional rules which characters are allowed, and which not. Best regards, Xaver
  22. In the meantime I've got MeGUI to what I want to do (generating an H.264 video from a PTE-AVI). WMV (Windows Media Video) is a proprietary video file format developed by Microsoft, while VFW (Video For Windows) is a programming interface. WMV videos aren't bad, but the files are bigger. As I cooperate with people using Wings Platinum, it is good to have this format, as Wings allows it to integrate HD-videos of type WMV, but no other formats. Regards, Xaver
  23. Ray, x264.exe is (as pointed out in the corresponding readme.txt) a command line encoder to be used with bat-files, or via some GUI. I tried to use MeGUI for transcoding a PTE-AVI, but I failed with the audio part. The only free encoders which I've used successfully for PTe-AVIs (so far) deliver WMV videos. Regards, Xaver
  24. When constructing masks (alpha channels) it is quite natural to work with an image editor. Just an example: Play with the effect by combining a low-key image with a mask which is obtained by the image itself (desaturated, blurred, and with a modified curve). Regards, Xaver
  25. You can configure the button in a way that it shows a change when the mouse cursor hits it. Best regards, Xaver Munich
