Hi, It's a bug in Windows 10. I observe this problem in many programs, including video players, and image viewers. There are 2 solutions: A. In the Task Manager find Explorer application, click right mouse button for the popup menu and choose Restart. B. Restart Windows 10.

Hi David, For desktop computers werecommend NVIDIA Geforce 1060 which will be enough for future versions of PicturesToExe during many years. Personally I have two Gigabyte NVIDIA Geforce 1060 WindForce 3GB which work absolutely silent (fans start only in heavy 3D games). My colleagues have Geforce 1050 which is also very good video card. I don't have Windows laptop so I can't recommend certain models. I only highly recommend to choose a modern laptop with NVIDIA Geforce for the best results in PicturesToExe 9. Future version of PicturesToExe will offer hardware accelerated video encoding (works in 4-5 times faster than CPU encoding) and it will work only on recent NVIDIA video cards (introduced since 2013).

Cor, Thanks for the confirmation. I'm glad. Please only remember that it's an experimental version. I'm sure that it will work correctly, but it's a serious change in the code and it requires long testing. We would prefer to include it officially to the future version 10.0. Several months of beta-testing will prove that everything is OK.

PicturesToExe 9.0.15 is available: Now PicturesToExe 9 works faster on laptops with dual graphics (Intel + NVIDIA). Dedicated NVIDIA video card is used by default for the main window of PicturesToExe, in the Objects and animation editor, and in created EXE shows. This improvement provides more smooth playback of animation and effects. Fixed problem with hanging of presentations on macOS Sierra and High Sierra if a project contains non-animated GIF images. Fixed problem with missing Animated GIFs as additional images in a custom transition.

Cor, Ignore any such errors in PteViewer5.exe or in created EXE files, because they still are limited by 2GB. Only PicturesToExe (itself) is 4 GB. I will send you another test version tomorrow.

Cor, OK, I will test again on our new laptop on Monday. Version 9.0.15 BETA adds only 3 small changes in the code. Can you try the following, if you have a laptop with dual graphics (Intel + NVIDIA): 1. Install previous PTE 9.0.14. 2. Click right mouse button on a shortcut with PTE 9.0.14 to call the popup menu. 3. There should be an sub-menu to choose a video card for this application - run on Intel or NVIDIA card. Try both variants and compare results. If you manually choose NVIDIA card for PTE 9.0.14 - it gives exactly same result as PTE 9.0.15 BETA does automatically.

Denis, Thanks for the confirmation! I'm glad. Barry, I will check on Monday. As I undestood it depends on chosen power mode (best performance or power saving). By default, new laptops with dual graphics always use Intel slow graphics for all 3D applications even if it's connected to power supply. I observed this on a new unboxed laptop yesterday. There is an official solution (API call) to force laptop use fast NVIDIA graphics. PTE 9 now requests access to fast NVIDIA graphics, even if it works from battery. Many 3D games do the same. Of course, users always can assign manually certain application for fast (NVIDIA) or slow (Intel) video card. This choice has the highest priority and overwrites other options.

Cor, Thanks, This version contains only a small change - two options which "tell" to NVDIA and AMD to use second powerful video card in laptops with dual graphics. That's all. It should not cause any problem if compare with previous version. Users always could do same choosing manually powerful video card for PTE in NVIDIA Control panel (or AMD control panel). We tested on a laptop with Intel + NVIDIA graphics. With good results. We'll test on a laptop with AMD on Monday. Please check memory usage in Task Manager. Try different projects (from simple to complex). And if it possible compare with previous v9.0.14 again.

Gary, Animation in PTE 9 (and created EXE files) works better (smoother) on faster video card. Now PTE 9 uses NVIDIA video card by default on laptops with dual graphics (Intel + NVIDIA). So you should observe more smooth animations in PTE shows on these laptops.

Because this update automatically forces PTE 9 to use dedicated NVIDIA video card instead of slow Intel video card. This improvement affects: - Preview in the main window of PTE 9; - Objects and animation editor. - Playback of EXE shows.

Gary, This update doesn't affect to playback of video clips in EXE shows. (we hope to improve it in future major version). However smoothness of animations (images) should be much better on laptops with dual video cards.
