Hi, In Beta 6 today we improved a preset "Waves" for a Mask Container with a Displacement Map effect. Now you can adjust absolute angle of a displacement effect (from 0 to 360 degree). And adjust a direction of waves (horizontal or vertical waves). It alows to create waves with longitudinal displacement (as in previous Beta) and waves with transverse displacement. You can see an example of using shear waves in the new "Dissolve with Waves" transition. Note, that if you earlier used built-in preset "Waves" and "Circle Waves", you need to check their settings, because we changed some parameters.

Hi, In PTE AV Studio 11 Beta 6 we included 2 new built-in transitions in a new group called Displacement Map: - Dissolve with Waves - Circle Waves Try these new transitions today. Slide Options (or Project Options) > Transition tab > Displacement Map group.

"On more thing" In PTE AV Studio 11 (Beta 6) we added drag'n'drop in the Tree objects in the Objects and animation editor. You can reorder objects using the mouse cursor by dragging one or more selected objects up or down, or onto a different parent object. Try this new feature today.

A good suggestion. Regrettably the code library which we use for decoding webp images doesn't support animated WEBP format, yet.

Hi, I'd like to remind that PTE AV Studio 10.5 supports images in WEBP format. A great benefit of this format is a transparency (alpha channel) with a lossy compression, like a JPEG. It allows to save very compact files with transparency. PNG with a transparenct is an old good solution. But it doesn't works well for a compression of photo realistic images with transparency. Usually file is very large, due to lossless compression. WEBP offers possibility of lossy compression like a JPEG keeping transparency layer. These photo realistic images usually smaller than PNG in 3-10 times. A very good idea to use them in slide styles or EXE shows. If your image editing app doesn't support export to a WEBP format, you can use a free online image editor/converter: photopea.com

This feature is not fully ready and we didn't announce it. Please wait a little.

A couple of ideas to optimize a file size of this project for your consideration: 1. Convert PNG images with transparency to a WEBP format with a lossy compression. It will reduce a file size on 80% (in 8x times). You can use a free online image editor: Photopea.com 2. Convert video footage files (snowflakes) in PTE. Use a Convert/Trim Video command and "High Quality" preset. It will reduce a file size on 90% (in 10 times). Video encoder in PTE is very smart and helps to reduce a file size where high bit rate is not necessary. Without a music this template can be transformed to a slide style about 5 MB.

Jill, Thanks, I understand, no worries. Please send me any project in a ZIP where that problem occured earlier. Do I recall rightly that you observed any freezings with PTE 10.5 & 11.0 Beta only when you moved some audio clip in the Timeline view? No freezings at other places of PTE?

Hi, Nested opacity is a new option introduced in PTE AV Studio 11. This option allows to control a common opacity for a group of objects. Enable a Nested opacity for a parent object, add one or several objects as child objects. Now when you adjust an Opacity for a parent object, all child objects will be rendered with a common opacity, as glued layers in Photoshop. Earlier you could implement this effect with a Mask container. Now this task can be done more easily with a Nested opacity option. Also this option is useful for a Text caption with a shadow when adjust opacity to show or hide a text caption. A sample project is attached. A comparison: NestedOpacity.pte

Hi Tom, Thanks for this interesting info regardig HW AV1 encoder. P.S. When first version of PTE was released, the most powerful graphics card from NVIDIA had only 32 MB of graphics memory. MB not GB

Alex, thanks for these details. If any freezing will occur again, please send me a personal message. If it possible, please attach a project where it occured (all files in a ZIP). Also see my reply to Jill above, try to wait 30-60 seconds to see if freezing will disappear automatically itself.

Jill, I just thought that it can be some delay, not freezing. Especially if some linked project files were located on a network drive, or HDD drive. If it will occur again on your computer, or John's computer, please try to wait a minute to see if it help. Please let me know about a result. Usually I work with files from SSD drives only and I very rarely face with any freezings, even during software development of PTE. I guess that some freezings could be a delay with reading a file from a network or HDD drive due to some reason in Windows OS or antivirus activity. Anyway, I'll try to reproduce this issue on our computers to find exact reason.

Hi Jill, Thanks for letting me know. 1. Do I understand rightly, PTE 11 Beta doesn't work less stable as previous PTE 10/10.5? And sometimes freezings occur in all 3 versions? 2. How often this problem occurs? 3. Did you observe any freezing with a desktop computer and PTE? Not on a laptop. I didn't see any freezings with PTE 11 Beta for least one month on my PCs and two Macs. I guess that less stable work of PTE 10/11 can be on laptops with dual Intel + NVIDIA graphics, as PTE intensively uses GPU graphics acceleration for the interface fo PTE and for rendering a preview. We fixed one problem with freezing in Beta 2 or 3 when copy/paste a slide with a text object. It's difficult to reproduce this issue, but it happened sometimes. We finally fixed it.
