  1. Denrob, Windows Media Player has many playback limitations. The recommended player for these types PTE video files (AVI, MP4) is Media Player Classic ... or a media player with similar capabilities. See PTE Help online guide: *AVI Video File [PicturesToExe] http://docs.picturestoexe.com/en/videobuilder/avivideo *HD Video [PicturesToExe] http://docs.picturestoexe.com/en/videobuilder/hdvideo * For best playback and quality results especially when using panning options ... Publish as a HD Video ( MP4) This type video file requires a player such as Media Player Classic, as Windows Media Player is not up to the task. * As for Smart TV via USB playback ... the TV itself must be capable for video/movie playback. Not all TVs have this feature .... or its somewhat limited in its file/encoding types for playback.
  2. Jimat4DVideo A often overlooked feature of PTE is its Project Options | Advanced tab | Custom Windows (Windows-Help, Startup, Custom) I find this feature extremely useful for precise manual navigation during EXE playback. Using the <F1> key will pop-up the "Help-Custom Window" at anytime for user access. Here you define with objects the specific slide targets you wish your user to be able to quickly navigate to (such as 1st slide postion of each of your multiple slide groups). There is no need for the enduser to remember a series of keyboard shortcuts to navigate. Use the "Help-Custom Window" option as a instant manual menu system with your defined objects that will pop-up any time the enduser hits the <F1> key. You can even separate/layer your manual menu system by creatively using additional Custom Windows.
  3. Gary, The text displayed on the mouseover is commonly known as a "Hint" label. They are used to simply help guide you about the button function ... they are not meant to repeat/duplicate a button name, text label, etc. If you look thru most of your other programs, and even in Windows ... you will see the mouseover "Hint" labels are not the same text as their button name, text label, etc. You can easily edit your own language.ini file within PTE program directory to reflect the name fixes you desire.
  4. Robert, This mouse-over feature of the 4 arrow button is already functional/available in v8. Feature was first implemented in v7.5 See Attachment
  5. If its really such a issue ... I personally believe its better to bring back the right-click menu item that was available in previous versions with its text description Start Preview From This Slide - CTRL + R for those new users who may be initially unfamiliar with icon button designations/functions. This old/previous menu item also easily relates the keyboard short-cut to perform the same function. This way there is nothing to turn on or turn off ... and its fully text descriptive of its function. I also belive its better to have the Windows generic Run Icon symbol button ( which is the so-called "Piece of Toast" icon button) on/displayed by default during initial program installation. Users may find it easier later on to move/remove/hide it rather than initially figuring out how to show/reveal from the Toolbar setting. The so-called "Piece of Toast" icon button already has a mouse-over text description ... so I see no need to also include a text button label.
  6. Barry, Here is another possible/optional way to use Full Screen Preview from Current Slide ... and its in plain sight and not hidden. This option is also well documented in v7.5 p17 User manual when these features were first implemented in v7.5 releases. Reading the User Guide does help most of the time. See attachment :
  7. Robert, It's also possible just to right-click the mini player to start preview from the current slide.
  8. Hi Lin, I like it !! Seems ASUS makes/offers this G10AC version in several hardware flavors. Their site lists the many possible hardware selection/configurations ... but not specific to a model number. The Support tab does have a User Manual available to atleast read up on in the waiting period. http://www.asus.com/us/Desktops/G10AC/#specifications
  9. The new Registration Keys for PTE version 8 releases are no longer entered into the Windows Registry. They are now written and stored within the USERS - Documents and Settings directory. * The only problem for Users is that the stored key content is encrypted. The file itself can be copied and saved to a new back-up location ... but also must be restored to the same folder location with its encrypted value. PTE GUI will not accept the encrypted value. * Best for Users to make sure they copy and save their original registration email receipt in a safe backup location for furture needs. Also with these new registration keys ... you can just as easily write the key value to a piece of paper or key log book.
  10. Robert, Resizing your images should resolve the issue. A older PC can always use the additional performace boost that is achieved when using optimized/resized images. * To see how your PC is stressing itself out ... Playback the original slideshow in combination with Windows Task Manager-Performance view. (Use <SHIFT><ALT><TAB> key combination to bring Task Manager to foreground) * I would check to see if your PAGEFILE is sufficient. (not locked and HDD has space available to expand) PAGEFILE standard is generally 1.5 X the total memory. Increasing the current PAGEFILE size may prove some benefit in your case. This MS Support link has some info on the subject: RAM, virtual memory, pagefile, and memory management in Windows http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2160852
  11. Douglas, This is normal behavior. The pteViewer5.exe within the PTE program directory is not a user component. Its an external program component. Try double-clicking directly from PTE program directory : * Main (folder) - PicturesToExe.exe (this file launches the PTE main program) * VideoBuilder (folder) - VideoBuilder.exe (this file launches the Video Builder program component in its own window) When I asked : 4) Do PTE Slideshows.exe open and display correctly ? * I was meaning with respect to your own slideshows.exe files published/made by you with PTE. Note: * I would first begin by installing a fresh set of current video card drivers. Its very possible something got corrupt/missing during the migration process.
  12. Douglas, A few questions : 1) What is your Windows OS version and build ? 2) You say PTE Program appears in Task Manager. In the Applications tab ... is its status displayed as Running , Busy , or what ? 3) Does the PTE Program display in the bottom Windows Toolbar ? 4) Do PTE Slideshows.exe open and display correctly ? A few simple things to check : 1) Check with the Direct X Diagnostic Tool Report. See if Direct X tab and Display tab indicates any problems. Test the Direct Draw and Direct 3D buttons. Verify if the Direct X Features are enabled 2) Check from the Windows Control Panel | Administrative Tools. Open Computer Management | System Tools | Event Viewer and look at the Application and System events for any error or warning flags. Double-click the flags to read its report of the event and what it relates to. 3) Check the Device Manager for any flagged devices.
  13. Rutger, In the meantime while hoping for such a specialized feature : You can get PTE to simulate such an action thru some Project Options setting trickery. By using the Time Limited Usage setting of Number Of Runs ... you can have as an example a 30 minute Slideshow play itself 4 Number Of Runs which totals to a 2 hour playback timeframe. * See attached image for some setting details * Please remember this simulation completely expires the EXE with no further playback once conditons are met. * Test with your own time requirements by doing the math of the single EXE playback time (X) the number of runs to achieve total loop playback duration. * The Slideshow's last slide will remain on screen and stop on the last Number Of Runs. You will have to manually ESC
  14. Colin, You may want to investigate if your old/current 400W powersupply is compatible for use on Haswell systems. Ive read alot of these systems have had issues when not using Haswell Approved ATX12V2 power supplies. Check the boards manufacture site for a list ... it could save you from alot of future headaches and troubleshooting down the road. * Usually a printed notification of this power supply requirement is within the boards packaging ... which many users have ignored to read or overlooked. * Some power suppy models claim to be Haswell Ready ... but in some cases these units are not fully Haswell Approved. It can be a cat and mouse game to verify.
  15. Eric, Just a reminder about KeyCopy v1. This tool will not retrieve the single key text format types (25 characters excluding dashes) that was/is issued for version 7 and future version 8 registrations from the registry. This tool was built prior to the release/issue of these key types and therefore will not search/copy the registry key information. I will update the tool early next year to include this key format type once PTE version 8 release settles. I need to think about if its more practical to build a seperate new version to address this registration type only ( keep KeyCopy v1 just for older PTE program types) * Also need to verify if Igor plans to institute future key registrations that avoid the use of the registry altogether.
  16. Eric, Your above displayed Key value is not represenative of the single key format type (which only has 25 characters excluding dashes). The single key format type does not contain any path strings like the older key types. It can be a bit confusing with the various key types issued thru the years ... especially with those of us who have older generation lifetime key type. * The single format key value is entered within the registry under : [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\WnSoft\Keys]
  17. Eric, Your screenshot shows only the PTE key (most likely your lifetime key). This key value only supports PTE Standard features. It takes two (2) Keys in your case to have PTE Deluxe features. * You also need to apply your VideoBuilder Upgrade Key to receive full Deluxe Features. Look in your registry to see if the value below has been entered. If not entered ... you need to find your Upgrade Key and enter it. REGEDIT4 [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\WnSoft\VideoBuilder] *The new version of Keys are applicable to new version 8 and future releases ... this will not affect the use of older PTE Program versions and your old version keys.
  18. Eric, Concerning the PC currently giving you issues ... I would begin first with checking out if your WMI Service needs repair. This can cause improper Nvidia Driver installation. See "nvidia_release_notes_2.jpg" for additional details. You should also re-install (possiblly first un-install current) Nvidia Drivers from Nvidia Site directly. See "nvidia_release_notes_1.jpg" for additional details. If the newest/latest Nvidia Drivers dont seem to solve any issues ... you may want to download an older/previous versions and test. (Please remember that your WMI Service needs to be checked/corrected first) *The above info was obtained from Nvidia Driver Release Notes 331.65 *This is just a simple operation to start off the problem solving.
  19. Dave, I dont know about DREADFUL!! ... to me the ISO playback in MPC appears as standard/normal/basic DVD quality. If I mount the ISO as a virtual drive ... the visual playback is the same in Windows Media Player. I have not installed VLC to compare playback/quality with MPC. Its very possible VLC has additional playback filtering to upgrade the standard DVD quality like up-convert players. VLC seems a more robust featured program since its also suppose to playback Bluray whereas MPC cannot.
  20. Ken, You may want to check the folder where the image is located for a hidden text file named WnSoftFolderInfo2.ini (make sure your OS can see hidden files ... otherwise you may not be able to see it.) This hidden INI text file is instructions for how to rotate the image as per your selection. Its possible this hidden file is your issue ... especially when you exchange images using the same file name with previously made templates etc. *Rename the WnSoftFolderInfo2.ini temporarily and verify that the image rotation has been removed (make sure to restart project). *Its possible there is several images listed within the WnSoftFolderInfo2.ini if you have previously rotated multiple images. *You can delete the WnSoftFolderInfo2.ini if the image name listed is the only the offending image name giving you the issue. Otherwise you will have to just edit out the single offending image name so the rest of the listed content remains intact.
  21. Peter, If you have Media Player Classic-Home Cinema installed to play MP4 files ... the program/player will also play ISO files. Use top menu File Open and select browse for All Files (not just media types) to see the ISO Files. *I find it easier just to drag the ISO File into the opened Media Player or onto its short-cut.
  22. JerryA, Just a note to let you know that PTE-Video Builder also burns ISO files. Its limited to one copy at a time, and not multiple copies. See attachment for selection/location to use Burn ISO Image in Video Builder. * Its best overall to burn slow so as not to promote possible errors. Dont perform additional PC (multi-tasking) operations during the burn process. * Double-clicking an ISO file is all dependant on how your Windows OS has associated the file extension for execution.
  23. Eric, If your Monitor has multiple connections (VGA/DVI/HDMI) ... it may be possible to connect multiple pc/cables. I use a single Asus monitor to connect two pcs. The monitor has a button/switch so as to select which incoming VGA/DVI/HDMI signal. Of course you cannot watch both pcs at the same time ... but you can have both pcs running and just toggle the connection back and forth if needed via the button/switch.
  24. fireofenergy Perform a "Direct X Diagnostic Report" of your PC. This will tell you the needed specifics of your installed Direct X version and video specs/drivers. *Can you produce an AVI File using Publish | AVI File and play it without issues ? *Can you produce an MP4 File using Publish | HD Video and play it without issues ? I would not expect too much from this old PC other than using basic PTE features and functions. Please post your saved DXDiag report. Your IntelĀ® 82915G/GV/910GL Express Chipset Family Display adapter is somewhat comparable to the GMA 900 features.
  25. Gypsey You can also find this information in the WhatsNew.RTF that's located in the program directory.
